It's one of the newer if not the newest hotel in Statesboro. Check-in went smoothly and the staff was very friendly, especially the front desk. They were a pleasure to interact with. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and in a great location. It's close to restaurants, coffee shops, and GSU. The complimentary breakfast was decent, but I was only able to take advantage of it once. I did help myself to the coffee bar a few times, which is a feature I really like about most Holiday Inn Express hotels. We really had no complaints, other than the room felt a little damp. Even the clothes inside my suitcase felt damp after a day. It was humid in Statesboro that weekend (when is it not, though?), but the room still shouldn't feel that damp. Either way, it did not damp-en (get it?) our stay. Would stay here again if we ever travel back to Statesboro!

All the hotels here have outdoor, unheated pools, so no advantage. The Internet here at American is plenty fast and reliable. I'm watching cable TV. So could I find bacon, eggs, and biscuits for under $36 to make this worthwhile? Gee... Do yourself a favor. If you're traveling between Macon and Savannah and don't need to stay in a city, or if you already know you're staying in Metter, just keep going north a few more blocks and check out American. Except for this one pesky fly that found its way into my room (I'm gonna get you, little dude), you won't be sorry. (I also like supporting local businesses, so there's that feel-good bonus.)

Rooms fairly clean, though the industrial cleaner they use is kinda slimy and sticky. Daily housekeeping if you request it. Rooms fairly comfortable, though many of the electrical outlets are suspect and one actually blew up and sparked on me. Price a little steep, but I guess they can charge what they want due to limited options. Staff is pretty nice. But it still smells funky. I think it's the fabuloso cleaner, which is NOT fabulous.

Said Hilton Honors was unable to be joined. Texted management and asked why. An hour later they responded with how to connect using last name and room. Couldn't even get that far because the page wouldn't load. Sent text back again about unable to join at 11:31 pm and it is now 1:16 am with no reply. They love advertising free WiFi but don't actually offer it. When we arrived, I watched a couple stand at the lobby desk waiting for the front desk employee and after about 17 minutes of unloading the cart and returning it, the employee still had not returned to the desk. As first impressions, this motel is terribly lacking. Carpet in the hallways were old and stained looking. Like I said, I would not recommend or plan on staying here ever again.
