It's the perfect spot for the bride and bridesmaids to get ready. They decorated beautifully and the hors d'oeuvres they had at the reception were delicious. They were so gracious and sweet and they have a beautiful bed and breakfast. Speaking of breakfast, WOW, it was AMAZING! We stayed in the Lily of the Valley room and it was stunning. I absolutely loved all of the details of this room. There is a nice whirlpool tub and they also have a porch (great place to sit out and have a cup of coffee in the morning!). My wife and I stayed here recently for our anniversary and to catch the solar eclipse that went…read morethrough Dallas. I booked the room -- the Anthony Suite on the top floor -- a year in advance. This place has a decent refund policy with enough advance notice, so if you are considering the Nethery Estate, book early. There are not a lot of rooms here and it appears from the pictures inside of it that groups/families tend to rent all of them for events, so it can fill up quickly. The estate is a nifty place. It is an older style home, but well kept. You park in the back and are texted a code for the gate to get in. The key to your room is left outside on the back porch and you go to your room as you would like. Definitely a colonial style home with a suit of armor next to the stairs (that's true). If you look closely around, you will see several references to Harry Potter, which my wife enjoyed finding and we looked around. Our room was awesome, with a nice couch and TV in front of it, a small table to sit at to eat, a comfy bed, and a separate bathroom with a cool tiled shower. Downstairs has a small sitting area, a bar, and another room has the long dining room table. My wife and I were comfortable walking into the place and going in and out of our room to activities as we saw fit. We did encounter some of the other guests, but only briefly. There is a small ice machine, which we used while we were there. And there is a mini-fridge next to it that guests had put in some leftovers as there aren't fridges in the rooms (which is all fine because Tiffany handles some of the cooking for you!). My wife and I went outside to hang out for a while because we had been at the zoo during the day and it was 86 degrees -- which is hot for us Oregonians for the beginning of April. We brought swim wear as the first amenity listed on Netherly's site is the salt pool. Sadly, it was not heated and still appeared to have some small branches from the property in it. It hadn't been warm enough for long enough for it to be available. The hot tub adjacent to it didn't have water, but honestly, I didn't remember anything mentioned on the website about a hot tub, so it was not anything I was expecting anyway. We can and enjoyed the back yard for a little bit, but opted to go inside and take a shower to cool off and then head out for activities. The first morning I had paid extra to have food delivered to our room. It is a good thing I put on some pants when I opened the door because Tiffany walked in to set down the food on the table for us. I've been to a couple other B&Bs and it is usually left outside, but I figured I'd not answer in the nude and that was a good idea. We were told she enters to set things up to ensure we don't eat in the bed as it is a nightmare to clean up (and I believe it). We had chopped potatoes, some waffles, and a little bit of fruit. More than enough for my wife and I. The next day we ate at the large table downstairs. We ate with a couple from France that had come to view the eclipse. Tiffany was very pleasant and talkative during that time. I cannot specifically remember all of the food, but it included more chopped potatoes, some toast, and I cannot remember what else. It was good food, though, and more than enough for me to eat. Tiffany also gave us a dessert cornmeal kind of muffin that was pretty good as well. For my personal experience, I look to the front page of Nethery's page that touts "Southern Hospitality Hotel Accommodations with a Pool" that the next page says is open in spring. summer, and fall. I don't think the site even mentions a hot tub, so no worries on that. It may not have been warm enough for the pool to really work out so early in April, but we were looking forward to having a more private pool than one found at a large hotel. The home is beautiful and sitting outside to bask in the sun is nice. Getting in and out was easy and the room we had was awesome. If you pay to have breakfast in your room, make sure you are dressed. You get generous portions and the food is pretty good! But look -- the pool thing aside, which I wouldn't want anyone reading this to make too big of a deal about as it didn't ruin any plans and wasn't the primary reason for my choosing Nethery Estate, we had a great time. My wife was very pleased that Nethery Estate was where we spent our 2nd anniversary together. It is certainly it's own experience and Tiffany is a great host, so if you are considering staying here -- book it.

The bed was the best my husband and I have ever slept on, the bathroom immaculate, and our room was very quiet- no thin walls in this joint! Every detail was five stars, even down to the aromatic smells in each room. While looking for a place to stay in Waxahachie, Texas, I came across The English Merchant Inn, a…read morebed and breakfast. This place intrigued me and decided to book this place for a week, since I was tagging along a business trip my husband had. Check in for this hotel is between 3- 6 pm. Unfortunately, my husband and I were not able to check in during that time and luckily had been able to get ahold of Howard, one of the owners of this place, and told us he would still be awake to check in until ~10 pm, when he goes to bed. But that he would leave the key in the cottage, where I had booked to get in, in case we come in after that. Howard was very nice when we met him (we ended up arriving after 9 pm). He showed us to the cottage, which is a small little place behind the main house (where there are 4 other rooms). The cottage has a king size bed with small living room. The bathroom is just a short few steps away from the sink. There is also a shower and a footed tub. I'm not a fan of baths and so I booked this place specifically for the shower. I wasn't too sure if the rooms inside the main house had showers, as I only saw photos of the footed tub (but there are a few rooms that do. I believe the room on the first floor only has a tub). The living room had a large TV and a Keurig machine with plenty of coffee and tea pods. I liked that a lovely tea set was provided to have my tea made in. As for breakfast, Howard had provided information for 3 places around town that we could get breakfast at. We ended up going to the White Rhino Coffee a few times and also El Mexicano Grill once. Overall, I would say that staying here was comfortable. Howard was very friendly and greatly appreciated him showing my husband and I a tour of the main house and most of the guest rooms (as we were the only ones staying at this bed and breakfast). But there were a few things that I want to mention that was unexpected. One was the daily housekeeping. Because my husband was at work during the day, I was staying in the cottage by myself. On our first day, my husband picked me up during his lunch so that we could pick up lunch at a nearby restaurant and then eat it at the cottage. When we came back, our door was wide open. I was surprised and thought I had forgotten to lock the door. But when I came in, I saw Tony, a friendly employee removing the sheets from our bed and putting on new ones. He told me that normally he comes by in the morning while guests typically would go out for breakfast but that he was late today. I had told him we didn't need housekeeping the next day. However, he came by, but only because I had asked Howard for some more tea pods for the Keurig, so he had Tony come by to provide new ones and clean towels. I didn't know if Tony would come but had a feeling, so I tried to take a shower very quickly when I woke up the next morning. The door that has the sink does not lock and because the way the shower and the mirror at the sink is angled, you can see someone taking a shower. This definitely made me feel uncomfortable, not knowing if Tony would come in for housekeeping and see me. Another thing that I want to mention is the train that goes all day and all night. The first morning we were here, I heard the train sounding the horn at 6:45 am and kept on going. My husband told me that typically the train will sound the horn when passing by intersections so cars know to stay back. I didn't really hear the trains too much later that first night. However, on the last night, the trains were going off all night long. I was so incredibly tired and severely sleep deprived when we woke up early the next day for our flight to fly back home to Los Angeles. I hardly was able to sleep (the train horn is very loud and you can hear it from several miles away). Also just wanted to mention that I heard a rooster around 6:30 am every morning and also heard the rooster in the afternoon each day. Same with hearing dogs barking. These noises didn't bother me but the train sound was definitely a problem. Of course these outside noises are not the fault of The English Merchant Inn but wanted to mention them. I really enjoyed my stay in the cottage at The English Merchant Inn but not entirely sure if I can stay again with all the noise. Where the majority of hotels are in this city, they are on the outskirts of town. According to my husband (he has traveled to Waxahachie several times for work), you can't hear the trains from the hotels, where he stayed before). If I was to stay here again, I would have to bring some really good ear plugs to block out all the noise for a restful night's sleep.

Everything here is made from scratch. This place is so charming!! We had to show up way later than the allowed check-in and were kindly accommodated! It is so peaceful here! We were even given a bottle of champagne to celebrate our wedding night. The ONLY downside is that the rooms are not very soundproof. The mind wanders... But, it is an old home, so this is not at all a downfall that would hinder my return. A trip to the Corinthian is money and time well spent.

The little pond seen in their ad, actually has a layer of scum on it. I saw a fish laying on top of the scum flopping and soon after died. probably because it couldn't get enough oxygen. the alpacas there were in a very run down pen area. there is a long 6 ft ta wooden wall in the pen area that leaning badly . it is ready to fall and is propped up with steel t post used for farm fences. They have a livestock guardian dog in the pen with the alpa's pen that does not look healthy. the entrance to the place has a dilapidated sign that is ready to fall dow. they give you a code for the entry gate. Probably because they don't want to ever meet any of their guest. They also give a code to the cabin. again so they don't have to meet you , they just want your money. The cabin was not bad, but the AC didn't work well. There were bugs in the grassy area and I was bitten many times. Run, don't walk. away as fast as you can . Their nice looking ad makes it look like a wonder place to stay. Believe me. It is not.
