I tried studying here a few years ago, with no luck, because of a strange combination of excessive quietude and hyperactive children. I do, however, come here a few times a year for the Friends of the Library's used book sales. These occur on the first Saturday of the month throughout the fall, winter, and spring. They've done a good job recently getting the books organized, whereas before it was a little disorienting. There are tons and tons and tons of discarded James Patterson and John Grisham, but I usually can find things more my taste. Paperback books are 25 cents, and Hardcover books are $1. The volunteers who run the sale are usually pretty nice, and sometimes quite adorable.

Rather than a good filing system, books are more or less grouped. Prices are much too high, both for new and for older used books. The selection also tends far left and revolutionary, which fits as they were playing some loud zephyr music for my visit. The staff was also unfriendly, more interested in their conversation than customers. I strongly advise going to either King Books Detroit, or King North, instead. Unless you have a taste for far left books and spending a long time hunting for books than interest you.

I have to change my review from 5 stars to 1 star given what has occurred to me when I was betrayed…read moreafter seeking help and guidance following a threat to my safety I believe was meant to intimidate me regarding court filings. The resulting impact has been severe and as a direct result, all officers are unfortunately impacted by the actions of Detective Turner's filing of a false police report and the escalation that followed to address my concerns. I wanted a good relationship with them and was willing to overlook matters, but now fear retaliation and the Oak Park police so much I can't even call 911 or even ask them for help. There are some great officers there and I remember them fondly, and it saddens me they have to be put into the entire ACAB narrative and their uniform represents not just what they do, but what Detective Turner has done and how the Department reacted when I tried to have the matter addressed. It is crucial that Oak Park develop an Internal Affairs individual and it no longer has to go to their supervisor. The supervisor is responsible for the actions of those below them, and is implicated in how they conduct themselves. I feel the supervisor's role in my issue was to attack potential civil action against the department, to undermine myself, and by manner of tone of voice and actions, to create stress.

This Location will forever be famous for the coined term "going postal" for the Roakens…read more How notable that the postal office in the downtown was famous for a very horrible incident long ago. According to Wiki the term as aforementioned, came about from a number of incidents that occurred from 1986 onward. That term became a reality in November 14 of 1991 here in Royal Oak. Despite the pure chaos and madness back in 1991, all has been calm since, thankfully. The post office is also a location where you can update your passport and take photos, which is a little known fact by a few folks. This building hasn't been updated, inside or outside, except maybe the addition of the ramp outside. It looks well for the carbon dating and well used. It's still an iconic building due to the incident back in 1991. Got to cut it some slack, since it looks like it's been around since the 1800s, is that true?
