This business is a typical foot/chair/table massage place that does massage by the minute. You can walk in, but since there are only two people working (I'm guessing it's a husband/wife team) you may or may not get in depending in how busy it is.
I've been here twice, and I am glad to have the business in the area. I like to be able to drop in for foot massages. The drawbacks are that they only have two staff, so I've gone by several times and the wait has been too long, and the prices for an hour-long foot massage are much higher than other similar places in Boise, etc., with less atmosphere. Usually you go in a darkened room playing relaxing music for the foot massage. This place you recline up front by the bright mall entrance where people can see you and you can hear all the noise passing by.
In any case, I was there last night and was disappointed by what happened. After my treatment, which he added on a calculator not a cash register ($36), the man told me "cash only." He pointed to his card reader and said "no wifi." I was trying to pay with a card so it took me a few seconds to understand because of the language barrier. I don't usually carry much cash so I was looking through my wallet and he bent over to look in my wallet as I looked for cash, which was weird. I only had $40, which he saw, and kept saying "ATM, ATM" but I didn't want to go to a random ATM in the mall to pay fees, nor did I have the time, so I gave him the $40. This was less of a tip than I normally give, but only by a few dollars and since he didn't tell me before we started it would be cash only it was the best I could do. He shook his head at me and held his fingers up in disbelief and said "4 dollars? 4 dollar tip? " and shook his head at me again. I wasn't walking around the mall looking for an ATM to pay $6 in fees to give him another $3 to make a 20% tip, especially since now I was running late, so I just thanked him and left. It was uncomfortable and rude. I understand the tip was a little low, but he should have told me before or had a sign saying "cash only" and I would have come back another time when I had more cash! I didn't appreciate his attitude - the money was a tip, which is a courtesy, not part of his posted prices. He did make $40 cash for 30 minutes of work -- much more than I make in 30 minutes!
Anyway, make sure you have cash when you go and tip well if you don't want to get yelled at. read more
