I know this is long but I hope you take the time to read it because if Ross Berman is attempting to take advantage of me, imagine how others that may be on fixed incomes that he's writing bogus policies for and getting away with.
It may seem as if I signed something before I read it but that's true at all! I was never given the opportunity to review the policy even though I made numerous attempts to do so before money was drafted from my account. I also added the complaint I sent to insurance commissioner of SC. As a single father the most important and valuable asset I have is my home. Trusting someone enough to come into my home and sell me a policy with the coverages that not only protects my investment but my family as well. That is something we all should feel secure about.
Ross Berman did just that up until I signed the outline for the coverage he made me believe I was getting along with the financial agreement. Ross promised to bring the written policy back to me in a few days so he could review it with me and make sure the coverages I signed for were written in the policy. I contacted Ross for 34 days by phone, text and emails I finally received a copy of a Commercial Builders Risk Policy through email. Mind you I do not own commercial property, I own residential property that I am remodeling. Not only was this this not the policy I agreed to but in this policy it clearly states that after the first draft is made from my checking account I am liable for the full premium of the policy whether I keep it, cancel it or they cancel it.
Ross pulled a fast one on me. He held this policy until one day after the first payment was drafted from my bank account then delivered a Commercial Builders Risk Policy that I've never seen and is worded to benefit the insurance company 100%.
"I contacted Ross Berman of Oak Insurance about insurance coverage on my Johns Island property. I emphasized with Ross that I needed coverage for all my personal property as well as general liability becuase construction was complete on the studio and I was now living in it. I provided all the information that Ross requested (value of contents, personal property) and with that information he put an outline together and brought it by for me to review on 10/15/2015. I told Ross I would review it and get back wth him the next day because my present policy was set to expire the next day 10/16/2015. I took outline of coverage and reviewed with my finance person, and we agreed that everything I wanted covered was to be insured. I contacted Ross the next day. I signed documents and wrote Ross a check for $1344.03 for down payment on the policy. Ross took the check, signed docs and said he would get policy written and be back in touch with me in the next few days to go over and review the written policy. On 10/15/2015 Met with Ross get outline On 10/16/2015 met Ross to sign outline of coverage and give down payment Ross took the check, signed docs and said he would get policy written and be back in touch with me in the next few days to go over and review the written policy. After a few days went by and no word from Ross, I contacted him to review the policy and he told the policy wasn't ready that it takes a time for these policies to be written. So I began to contact Ross on a regular basis by phone, email, text and even stopping by his office. His response to my request for the policy was either, "it's not ready", "these policies take time to get written" or "let me call and see where they are at with that!" I contacted Ross numerous times between 10/16/2015 and 11/18/2015 to get a copy of the policy so that he could review it with me. Finally I received an email with the policy attached on November 18, 2015 at 6:17 pm, Then on November 19, 2015 Ross dropped off a hardcopy of the policy to my house but didn't have time to review it with me. Earlier that same day a representative from Bass Underwriters' Inc came by to take photos of my house. I finally receive a copy of the policy and I'm still having trouble getting Ross to come by and review the policy with me. Then on November 22, 2015 between the hours of 5:45 and 7pm someone had broke into my into my utility trailer stole tools from me.. So I contacted the police, made a report and started making list of tools that were missing. My next call is to Ross to let him know what had happened and let him know that I wasn't sure if I was going to file a claim yet or not because I wasn't sure what was taken in the robbery. At this time Ross informed me that the policy didn't cover the loss of tools. I finally received a copy of the policy exactly 34 days after I made downpayment and signed docs and one day after the monthly payment of $328.19 was drafted from my checking account did I receive a copy of the policy read more
