I was actually quite nervous about it, but I also felt very honored to serve and to do my civic duty. Call me weird, but I found the whole process interesting. I learned about laws, and sentences, and how the juror system works. Nothing is like TV. We worked with an amazing judge, although I don't believe that I should mention him by name. He was very personable, and even came into the jury room after the trial was over (in four days) to thank us all. Two weeks later I got a letter in the mail thanking me with that judge's John Hancock on it. I'm rating this a 4 out of 5 because you get paid $11 a day. That's barely enough to cover lunch...surely I'm not the first to complain.

Takes HOURS because the questions they ask that would…read moredisqualify you for that particular trial are asked individually once you are actually in the juror box. If they would just ask the group all at once that would eliminate a great many of them. Its painful to sit there on those hard friggen benches and listen to the exact same questions being asked to everyone. OH and while I was there it seemed that majority of close by restaurants were not open. The vending machines in the basement were practically empty. The only thing that was a good thing was that you just had to call a number each evening to find out if you had to appear the next day.

I will place character above riches, and concern for others above personal wealth, I will never boast, but cherish humility instead, I will speak the truth at all times, and forever keep my word, I will defend those who cannot defend themselves, I will honor and respect women, and refute sexism in all its guises, I will uphold justice by being fair to all, I will be faithful in love and loyal in friendship, I will abhor scandals and gossip-neither partake nor delight in them, I will be generous to the poor and to those who need help, I will forgive when asked, that my own mistakes will be forgiven, I will live my life with courtesy and honor from this day forward." These words embody the nobility and virtue displayed by King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table. The park was erected in hope that the ideals of Camelot and King Arthur would be reflected on the campus of Hopkinsville Community College. Walking towards the park you have a lovely sense of arrival seeing the pillar entrance to the park and the blossoming trees. It reminds me of a Japanese torii, a sacred gateway between heaven and earth and entrance to temples and shrines in Japan. This is definitely not your typical park. The sword in the stone and the round table in the park are very iconic and reminiscent of King Arthur. Yet, I loved everything about the park including the statues and architecture. This is a unique place to wander, enjoy Nature, and share with friends and loved ones.

The park is located on the campus of the University of Kentucky Hopkinsville Community College. Parking on the left side of the lot will lead you straight to the pathway to the Roundtable Park. There are lots of trees overhead, and the park can't be seen from the road. It truly is a little hidden gem. The round table is huge, and every time I've ever seen it I discover something I didn't notice before (this week I noticed N, S, E, & W we're located on the edges). It's massive. There is a Graeco-Roman Amphitheatre, and not only is it cool to look it, or maybe sit and imagine that you lived in an entirely different era, each step is a workout! You can't miss the scary, creepy statue of the woman, as my daughter used to call it when she was younger. I think it's an amazing piece of art, and fitting for where it is. I can only suggest that you look at my photos. It's hard to find the words to be descriptive. If you find yourself in Hoptown, hop on over to the Round Table Literary Park. Bring a book!
