Mixed bag here. Loved the ambiance, the service was great, and the beer was delicious! Local beer was a huge pull for us to choose this restaurant and there were a fair amount of options. The food was okay. Fried potatoes were the biggest hit. Not pictured was one of the burgers which got the best reviews otherwise. The charcuterie board was nice but the olives had such a strong and honestly off-putting smell that was also on the boiled potatoes-would not order those again. CRAFT BEER! We are craft beer junkies from the states and have been a bit dissatisfied in the lack of craft beer on the island. I was aware of this place and wanted to check it out so we made our way up the hill after dinner. The place is the only one we have been to on Terceira so far that had more than super bock. We were quickly greeted, shown a table and given many menus of beers to choose from. I'd say there are about 25 beers you can get here. That and a full bar is here too. Not like a snack bar where they have 6 bottles but a full on bar. So if you're looking for a cocktail, scotch, whisky or something you'll have better luck here. The place is decorated with all sorts of pirate stuff and there was music and a tv. Staff was super friendly and fast and the drinks are reasonably priced. Worth checking out if you're chasing beers. Came here for the theme because.....Pirate Bar?? Yes, please!!! Atmosphere: It was really decked out in Pirate stuff. They have a stage for bands to play. We were not able to get a seat inside due to all the seats being reserved and there was a band playing that night. We sat in their enclosed outside area. Only thing I disliked was people was smoking in the enclosure so I had to bare through it. Food: The items on the menu all looked excellent. The portions are HUGE. I recommend sharing an entree between 2 people. We should've ordered way less than we did. The part that was a big turn off was the salt content of the dishes. Everything looked amazing but just about everything was overly salted to the point where I could only eat about less than half of my entree. I do recommend the Alcantra (Azorean meat soup) and the Seafood Paelle (huge, probably big enough for 3 people). The meat and the seafood in those dishes were excellent. Though again, a bit overly salted. Some of the other dishes we tried were the fried cod, hamburger, and the azorean sandwich/burger (the toast that's filled with all kinds of meat and topped with gravy). Everything was huge portions and overly salty. If you have a high tolerance for salt, I would recommend this place for you! read more

You can't beat the location; we sat on the covered patio overlooking the fort and bay. Thankfully the seagulls were mere ambiance and not a nuisance. One thing to note...the full menu isn't available until 7 but you can definitely fill up on the appetizers. Skip the beer on tap and try one a craft brew. The Letra D ranks up there as one of the best amber ales I've ever had. Hubby had the Letra D and was quite pleased. The staff was great to boot! read more

I've said it so many times in my pics but I'm going to say it again...THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!!! I almost didn't make them a yelp page for selfish reasons. The food was amazing and the alcohol is cheap. I went with a group of six drank a lot of beer drank 3 bottles of wine, ate two lobsters, two octopuses, a steak, swordfish, limpets, cheddar fries, and a meat and cheese wine board. It was all amazing. The lobster was perfectly cooked. Definitely my fav place in angara by far. read more

The pirate theme may be a bit cheesy, But I think they have the best steak with egg in town. I tried it at many restaurants and liked theirs best. You can also get a good stout beer to go with the steak. Is there any better combo? Good way to spend an evening with friends. I've been here twice and the food was consistent. read more
