Words cannot describe the goodness of this amazing restaurant. We drove hours just to come back and eat here again. It is a small restaurant with homemade food. You must try their famous seafood chowder. It is mouthwatering and very unique in taste. The fish and chips and their house salad is unbelievably delicious. Our server, Kyle is so friendly and kind. We are so happy with his services. I give this restaurant 10/10. read more

Our cousins who live in Kenssington recommended this place. Came here with 4 adults and 2 teen/tweens. Cute location. Beautiful decor. Big portions. Solid service. High quality food. Art on walls from local artists. Stop and have lunch. You won't regret. read more

Stumbled upon this place as the Oyster Barn was closed. I am so glad we stumbled upon this place. The food was delicious. We had 12 oysters to start as when in Malpeque have to have the oysters. The oysters were big and delicious, probably the best I have had. After having the 12 had to order 6 more. We also had the flatbread. This flatbread had dill pickles, olives, bacon bits, banana peppers and cheese. It was fantastic. Sitting outside on the big veranda was cool. The hospitality was top notch. read more

We were heading to the Oyster Barn when we tripped over the O'Neil Home Gallery & Cafe. It was the perfect summer afternoon for the wrap around porch with outdoor seating. We ordered a coffee & espresso, and learned they use Caledonia coffee that's locally roasted. We had already purchased a pound of each from the company's booth at the Charlottetown farmer's market. Yum. For food, my partner ordered the house salad, and the roasted almonds were tasty. I had the seafood chowder, and it was good to the last biscuit soaked drop. Kudos to using local ingredients, and they also have fun items from the Iron Works. Gallery is worth stroll too. Well worth a visit. read more

What a hidden gem. Just had coffee and the best rhubarb muffin- moist and cinnamon roll. But the best was the service. An amazing chat with the owner and artist Scott. Please make this a meal and gallery stop. Wish we would have found this place sooner. Don't make the mistake we did by driving by. EAT HERE!! read more

We ate here a few years ago. We even purchased one of Scott's paintings. We enjoyed it so much we came back. We dined there this morning. The food portions were generous and delicious. We brought friends with us this trip and they felt like they got their money's worth. We recommend this place and will eat here again. read more

History

Established in 2014.

In the spring of 2014 Scott and his wife, Holly, opened ONeil Home Gallery located at 2222 Route 20 in Malpeque, PEI. 2015 expanded to include a small cafe. 2019, purchased the new location in French River to expand both the Gallery and Restaurant. 2023 Sold the Restaurant portion of the business, for Scott to expand the gallery!

Meet the Business Owner: SCOTT O.

Scott O'Neil started painting in 1984 through private lessons. In1987 he started to further develop his skills at the University of Windsor arts program followed by workshops throughout Ontario and Newfoundland. Whether working plein air or painting in the studio, the beauty of everyday life inspires landscapes, seascapes, portraitures and custom artworks.

O'NEiLs is one of my favourite places to stop in to whenever I am in the area. Scott and Holly have worked extremely hard to ensure their guests are happy; this is so easy to see through the staff they have hired - waitresses and chefs, and their amount of dedication to their business. The food is fabulous! and very reasonably priced considering each and every meal is individually prepared, ensuring fresh food with every order! The restaurant has such a warm and cozy feel to it, and the beverages are TO DIE FOR. Scott's art work adds to the overall dining experience, as you can see various paintings throughout the dining room and in the gift shop. O'NEiLs is inclusive to everyone and caters to the many diverse needs of all customers, including knowledge and options for gluten free; which not all home business take pride in. If you are, like me, used to a little later dinner service, don't be put off by the hours. Although they close at 7, you should adjust your palate and put this on your itinerary (or come for lunch!). This felt like one of those boutique, in-the-know, farm-to-table gorgeous cafes BUT without any pretense! The setting and ambiance of this house-cum-restaurant were casual yet gorgeous, with dappled light filtering through the dining room. Our server was warm, welcoming, and humorous. The kids visited the artist's studio while dinner was being prepared. Dinner was outrageously flavorful- the seafood bubbler was rich and the mussels were fresh and delicious and accompanied by homemade bread. We ended up visiting a few times throughout our vacation, for take-away coffee and to catch up on some pressing work from home. read more
