Southend High Street has an adversion to pubs, the main shopping street tucks them behind the scenes, as can be seen with O'Neills one of the chain, normally on any other town sitting proud, but here it has an interesting siting. A stroll from Southend Central Station (C2C), a close walk to South East Essex College and an even closer walk to Essex University(Southend). O'Neills is what it is, my Irish friends would not be seen in there, they have visited once and never returned, but having said that us Anglo's enjoy being fed a theme and this is one of its kind. The food is ok, the beer is professionally delivered and I have never had a reason ever to be really annoyed with this bar, not that I am critical or anything!!!
Having been trapped in numerous conferences and lectures within the educational neighhbours, O'Neills has often provided visual stimulant to exit the boredom, and it is amazing how the most ugly outside sitting arrangement can suddenly look very appealing. I will no doubt return. read more
