    Apple Fritters

My husband and I LOVE coming to O'Neil's! They have a huge orchard and always have a variety of apples to pick. You do have to walk up a hill to get to the orchards but they aren't far. All the workers there are so nice and helpful. The best part are the Apple Fritters! Even if we go to another orchard we always stop here to get the apple fritters. They are bar far the best in the area! I highly recommend checking out O'neils orchard and their apple fritters!

I saw a post on Facebook about O'Neills orchard about the Apple fritters. I pulled my Pops to the car for a drive. They lived up to third reputation. The fritters were round cored slices of apple covered with dough and deep fried. They also carry apple cider doughnuts. I am sure they are just as good. There is a small gift shop selling backed goods and gifts. Of course apples. It is a pick your own apples. I will be back

Route 20 in Lafayette is considered apple valley here in CNY. A quick drive between Lafayette and Skaneateles will bring you by multiple apple orchards, offering apple picking, baked goods and fritters. Most people drive by all the smaller family orchards to get to Beak N Skiff, but O'Neill's has found ways to separate themselves from the local monopoly. Keith O'Neill and his wife opened their orchard back in 1986. They've spent the last 3 decades running the orchards as well as working other day jobs. They've added fritters, a BBQ trailer and other fruit trees for picking to make themselves stand out. Now, I'm not a huge fan of apple picking. I find it a tad boring and find most orchards are for the most part very similar. But I go to O'Neill's every now and then for other things and everything is always great. Their BBQ, which is only served on weekends, is delicious. Their brisket is smoked and piled high on a roll. You can get it Carolina style, topped with their apple slaw, which gives it a great, sweet crunch. Their fritters and donuts are pretty heavenly as well. Keiths son and daughter usually man the BBQ truck and are both extremely friendly, funny and personable. I also love their pies. I'm not big on pie, but their raspberry apple pie is amazing. Their crust is actually flaky and flavorful, unlike a lot of other pies. Keith has stated that all their jams, pies and other baked goods are homemade by his wife and are fresh every weekend. One of the other reasons I support them is because I volunteer for a local non profit called Amberations. We do a yearly fundraiser in the fall, and every year, O'Neill's has donated apples to us to make apple crisp to sell. Beak N Skiff, the monopoly right up the road, has always denied our request for a donation. Good food, good people, and good for the community. Support the smaller family orchards!

Although I moved out of CNY, I definitely recommend O'neill's to folks wanting to go apple picking or just craving apple fritters or bbq! I came here with some friends as a sort of farewell lunch to finally try the bbq... and I'm so glad we finally made the trip! The bbq here is great! I am a bit picky when it comes to bbq (thanks to growing up in North Carolina) and I even liked the pulled pork! I also love their cole slaw which has apples in it. Its very tangy but juicy and perfect to pair with pulled pork :) I just wish they had the bbq truck running more often than just in September! Hopefully they'll consider expanding soon so other CNY folks can enjoy! Another thing... the apple fritters here are the BEST! I'm not sure how they make them taste so delicious but they are! I tried the apple donuts and thought they were good as well, but the fritters are definitely my favorite. I also love that this place is a family business and they support locals. I understand that a lot of people tend to go to Beak N Skiff as its larger, but I actually enjoy that O'neill's is a smaller and a more intimate orchard. It's not as intimidating or overwhelming, which I prefer. I also love that the O'neill's who run the orchard and bbq truck are just really nice people. They have always greeted me warmly when I came by and wanted to ensure my food was delicious and I had everything I need. You just don't get that kind of service elsewhere. I definitely recommend people check out O'neill's for your apple picking and apple fritter fix :)

Local grocery stores were selling apples at $1 per pound and we paid $1.50 to pick our own.

Great fritters in season, and lots more to look over and take along, fruits, cheeses, honeys, apples to pick, and much more.

This is a family owned orchard in Lafayette so it is a bit smaller in operation than beak n skiff.
