Dr. Mendrinos while working on my teeth, with her grinding tool twice injured my lower lip. This happened while she was pulling the hand of her assistant to locate the suction tool in the right place in the mouth. There was no dental hygienist in the office for at least 5 years, therefore, there was no comprehensive examination/cleaning on my teeth. On her guard, I lost 4 of my teeth as a result of not having a Hygienist to perform a comprehensive exam. On every visit, I was never provided with a statement to indicate work performed on my teeth and the charges for the visit.

The Girl who called me Christina was INCREDIBLY RUDE and professional. I was going to reschedule when I get a new dental insurance but I will not be returning. She continued to tell me how she sent information to my phone but I never received it. and she continued to repeat her self with the worst attitude. I filled out a new client paperwork but I have been there before. I will not be Returning and will also not recommend this dental office to family and friends. they need to have people at the front desk that actually wanna help and care for their clients. This is a beautiful practice, it looks like a dental spa. However it is also a cutting edge medical dental facility. I have severe periodontal disease, the treatments that have been made available to me are new innovative and they work! I have been very blessed to have received care from many of the folks at this practice, Christi is the hygienist that I see every 3 months and she has been absolutely phenomenal. In partnership with Dr. Downs she has introduced some very advanced and effective treatments into my care plan. I have been very impressed by her dedication to finding ways to help me. Everyone at this practice is extremely kind, my comfort is always a top priority and even procedures that I feel like could be painful are not. Dr. Downs and her team have always made sure that I am totally comfortable. I would say that I laugh more and enjoy my time at the practice more than most people would associate with a visit to the dentist's office. The billing staff are also very knowledgeable, I feel like they take extra steps to ensure as much of the costs are covered by my insurance as possible and there are never any surprises. I highly recommend Downs Dental Care, going there is both an enjoyable and effective experience!

So my old dentist, Dr. Lee at Dentistry First had closed down and I hadn't seen a dentist since. However before he closed he did tell me I had moderate periodontal disease. His hygienist told me to get braces so that way if I go to get a gum graph my life would be simple. So I listened. I got braces from Savage Visser and Sabol. (recommend them too) So fast forward to today. Of course as Dr. Lee said, moderate periodontal disease. I already knew. My hygienist today was Josh. He was so gentle. I was extremely scared since it had been a couple of years. He took X-rays and the cleaning was super quick. Hurt a bit because I have a sensitivity to cold. Dr. Folck came in to see me, though I have a bit of issues, he was as sweet as can be and he gave me a recommendation to see a periodontal specialist to give me a gum graph. I can't wait for that because after that I know I'll have beautiful bright white teeth! I highly recommend. I drove all the way from the Kempsville area to go here. Worth the gas.

I have several dental issues that need attention, including a crown adjustment. During the discussion, I was informed that the dentist would charge me the full amount for adjusting my crown, as if it were a new one. I was told the dentist would need to remove my crown. You do not need to remove a crown to do an adjustment. A new crown is 1,500- 2,000 dollars so that amount for an adjustment is outrageous!!! They highly recommended that I visit the dentist who had placed the crown on me. This was the first time I had ever heard such a recommendation. I believe that whoever scheduled the appointments should have informed me or the office well in advance, at least more than two days before the appointment.
