This is not just a restaurant and beer hall, also a small museum for former president, governor,…read moremayor, & mil police general Juscelino Kubitscheck. Both are ok, but not 5-star material.
We came here on a quiet Saturday afternoon. The service was excellent, friendly, and quick. The beer was good. We only had some snack foods (pastel - a bit fatty but tasty and crisp; and fried mandioca, which was good) so can't comment on the famous Comida Mineira. The fried chicken skin that we wanted to try at the recommendation of our friends, unfortunately was out.
The (original?) owner of the place clearly was a fan of and friend of the Kubitscheck. An upstairs area is adorned with many photos of the former Brazil President with various other dignitaries and local hubbubs. It's kinda neat.
It's located officially in Pampulha, which sounds good, but the building is a warehouse in a warehouse district 2 blocks from Antonio Carlos. Not too inviting. As you can read in the other reviews (in Português) this place has history; it's been there for close to 70 years.
