Most reviews I write here are inspired by good experiences, but my most recent experience with Mr…read more Turner was a bad one. The question of quality is not the issue here, but rather one of lack of transparency on pricing, overt overcharging and performing work slowly/"piddling". Before we dive in, most plumbers in NC make about $26 per hour working for a company, but they are billing way more for their services, on average $90 per hour in NC. If you are the owner/operator the entire $90 goes in their pocket. Most plumbers I have dealt with in the past (most recently just last year) have charged me $75-$100 per new fixture installed and have taken maybe 30 minutes to complete each fixture installation. Recently I had new bathroom countertops installed and needed one new fixture installed, one reinstalled and one drain assembly reassembled. I spoke with Mr. Turner by phone and he agreed to come look at the job that same afternoon. He called around 12:45PM to say he was on his way and arrived around 1:00PM (I checked our neighbor hood gate logs later to verify this). He agreed to do the job but also felt the need to basically tell me one of my fixtures was junky and would likely fail in two years(and that I would have trouble finding parts). He said he had time to do the job but was neither upfront, nor transparent about his fees/fee per fixture structure nor a timetable. In addition he brought along a very young apprentice/plumber's helper. I have no problem with that, but if you are bringing someone inexperienced along with you and taking the time to train them as you go, shouldn't you be adjusting your rates/possible times billed to compensate? No, I guess in the end I was charged for his training time. I did hear some banter between the two that included such phrases as " are we going to have to do it a third time?". Fast forward - three hours later the jobs are reportedly complete and he is in his truck at 4PM. Needless to say I was shocked when he showed me his bill. A total of $583. I was charged for 3 1/2 hours of labor at $114 per hour to the tune of $402, then parts (such as P traps which it looks like he also overcharged for/charged retail not cost) and tax (which I understand they have to do since 2017). My first red flag looking back, should have been his quick availability. My second red flag should have been the amount of time it was taking to get the jobs completed. I remember thinking "shouldn't they be done by now, why is it taking so long?". My third red flag was right in front of me - I was overtly/blatantly being overcharged by 30 minutes of labor. He was there from 1PM - 4PM. When I pointed that out, he became defensive and felt the need to produce his phone which confirmed he had called me a 12:45 PM to say he was on his way (15 minutes of the overcharge there and the other were him driving to my house). Later that day I did confirm that he entered our gate code around 1PM (our entry system has logs and takes pictures). When I informed him that his prices were ridiculously high compared to other plumbers in our community, and that he should have been upfront about how and how much he was going to charge, he replied "I'm sorry you feel that way". At this point I was upset - I wrote him his check and just wanted him to leave as he was blocking our driveway, preventing us from going to the movies on time. At the very end before he left he said, "would you feel better if I took half an hour of labor off?". Oh wait, you mean the 30 minutes you were already overcharging me for??? Are you kidding? So if you decide to hire Mr. Turner, please make sure you know what you are getting into. His rates are very high and his task completion times are slower than most. Make sure he gives you a quote up front. Make sure he tells you his rates up front. Make sure he tells you if he his charging you by the hour or by the fixture. Again, the quality of his work is not at issue (at least not yet - as I live with the fixtures and use them, we will see) but with his lack of transparency and his willingness to blatantly overcharge/over bill for services (and parts). Unfortunately, because of these things I cannot recommend Mr. Turner for your plumbing needs. I will not be using his services in the future.

I love posting about a positive, affirming experience... ESPECIALLY with a small business…read more That said, here one is! As a new home owner, I have had a recurring nightmare about breakdowns of major home systems, especially roof, plumbing and electrical. My fear is, no matter how much I save while I recover from my purchase, it still won't ever be enough. I received a Home Warranty as a "gift" ("Is it ever, really?" he says will an embarrassing level of cynicism. Lol). In my first year in this home, I have had occasion to use the warranty twice: air conditioner and, more recently, plumbing. TWO plumbers have been here over the past month. The 1st came 3 times and still didn't fix the problem which had every point of my water system back up. My laundry room was underwater at one point. The City got involved and were VERY helpful and gave me amazingly educational info about how my system ties into their water sytem. They did a dye test from my toilets to show me where the problem lies. It was clearly on this end. I literally almost came to blows with the 1st plumber, "TNT" in Charlotte whose owner's name is Garland. He was rude, dismissive (told me to "shut up and go in the house") and utterly FAILED to fix the problem. Subsequently, three weeks later, the warranty company sent out a 2nd company without a service fee. "RELIABLE PLUMBING" was just that, reliable. They were here 5 hours, well into the darkness, changed out 2 sets of equipment and rootered down almost 100 feet to just before the street. They were polite, professional and -most importantly- FIXED the problem! My bill: $0!!!! Shouts out to Jason Hancock, owner of Reliable Plumbing. He is young, hungry and holds great promise for a successful plumbing enterprise in Charlotte City. I highly recommend him. Note: I was not paid for this endorsement. Lol

Not only has Charlie come back to our home to help us out of this situation, he's done so without any promise of payment or repayment from our horrible warranty company, he just wanted to do the right thing for us. We are grateful for his expertise, his demeanor under duress, and his willingness to work with us despite a lot of negative history with our warranty company. He has gone above and beyond, including involving county inspectors to ensure to us that work is correct and documented, and we can't thank him enough. Badger Plumbing's work is clean, quick, and top-notch. Badger Plumbing's customer service is more than we could hope for and expect after our experiences with other plumbers and our home warranty company. We are thrilled and grateful for Charlie.

Waited from 3-8p, they called at 7:30p to reschedule...I was understanding even though I left work early and waited around for nothing. They said the next appt I would be priority....Friday, from 7a-11a, again they didn't call to confirm. I called around 9a, the guy seemed like he had forgotten the appt., said they would call when they were otw, but never called and didn't show. Again, I took time off work for a no show! It was unprofessional, from start to finish. Emergencies happen, but I also had 2 appointments, 4 days apart, which means it was not a one off...there was time to plan...it's called operating a business. My time and plumbing issue is just as important as whoever called after my appt was booked. My appt should have been priority, as promised. I deserved a call!! To the company: Communicate with your customers and don't book jobs unless you have the staff to cover! Are you saying that a no call/no show is acceptable for any reason?? Is that your business model, just ghost your appointments?? I missed work, waited around for hours and my plumbing issue remains unresolved. There is no excuse for this type of experience. Save your time and money and go with another company.

I can't speak to anyone else's experience, as this review is all my personal experience and opinion…read moreonly, as I know not everyone will have the same experience and I also know there are some solid techs at this company (I have personally dealth with them), but unfortunately I had a nightmare experience with mutiple bad apples in my opinion, and it unfortunately resulted in the end of my storied relationship with a plumber that I thought would be the last one I would ever need, but as they say if something seems too good to be true it usually is... I thought I had found a plumber for life, but my personal experience with Option One ended up with me feeling as though they exhibited failed ownership in addressing an issue caused by errors from their techs, lack of accountability with regard to said issue and becoming confrontational and argumentative when the issue was brought to their attention. Long story short, I had a plumbing blockage that resulted in my front yard needing to be dug up and new pipes being installed in the yard. Upon completion of the job, I experienced flooding in my yard and requested Option One to come out and address the issue. They tried to claim it was an irrigation issue not their problem, but after getting another Option One tech and a plumber from another company to come out, it was confirmed (via photos) that the flooding was due to Option One failing to connect the piping correctly. Instead of taking ownership and accountability for the issue, I was met with defensiveness, along with the above stated lack of ownership and accountability. At one point in the process I even had to ask one of the techs to leave my property because he had such a dismissive unprofessional attitude. I could go on and on but I have already wasted so much time on dealing with this issue that it isn't worth any more of my time. At the end of the day, I found another company to correct the failed work done by Option One and this company apologized on behalf of Option One, as this company felt bad that I had to go through such an ordeal, given that the plumbing industry is already viewed in a negative light by many, right up there with mechanics, car salesmen and attorneys by some. You can read my past reviews to see how much I praised this company in the past, which is why I was so disappointed by what in my personal option was a complete lack of accountability and ownership by multiple individuals across the Option One company. After giving this company multiple five star reviews over the years, I cannot recommend them to anyone anymore as the trust they gained over the years was lost in an instant and based on my personal experience, I cannot in good conscience recommend them to anyone moving forward like I have done in the past.
