The inside is relatively comfortable, but when we were taken to our private room, it was unbearably hot. There was no ventilation, just a ceiling fan that didn't do the job. There was nowhere to hang our things and the bed took up almost the entire room. It was not a big bed. We are used to shared bathrooms, but the walk to the shared bathroom was pretty long, and there was a man sitting outside the women's room, watching something on his phone, and that made me uncomfortable. Inside, the women's room was filthy. Granted, we checked in at night, and by mid morning the next day, the bathrooms had been cleaned, but I absolutely was not comfortable in that location. We had the breakfast, which was good and checked out the next morning, finding a regular hotel for a couple dollars a night more that had a private bath and a decent air conditioner. I can't believe the great reviews this place has. I'm sure everybody's very nice, but they really were deplorable conditions.

After looking though the website, we fell in love instantly. This lovely boutique hotel is run by a gentleman named Alex who was a former chef. He would make breakfast every morning and it was to die for. He also gave wonderful recommendations around Merida. The building is old, but it has been well taken care of and very charming. We stayed in the Kabah room which was very comfortable. It even has a rooftop with whiskey as a nightcap. I absolutely loved my stay here and would love to come back whenever I'm visiting Merida!

I posted some food pics- The actual hotel feels more like a luxurious home with hints on Moorish influence-the roof deck has a dunk pool, lounge chairs and a bar where Alex hosts a daily tequila tasting! He keeps the bottle a available to enjoy- it is the smoothest tequila I've ever tasted with rum and brandy undertones- Again, this hotel offers convenient access points, close to el centro, mercado, paseo montejo along with the plethora of bars, trendy restaurants and nightclubs

There are two different terrace areas where customers can smoke, or we enjoyed just sitting outside and soaking in the fresh air. Our room was spacious and included a ceiling fan and air conditioner for the warm evenings. We could also open the window to get fresh air. We loved that the room also had Netflix as we could unwind with a favorite show or two. The breakfasts served each morning were great. The staff was super friendly and even helped us out when one of our tour companies changed our pick-up time. The staff was always available to help answer questions or provide advice on things to do or places to see. The location of the hotel was perfect - just a quick walk to the parks or the Cathedrals, and close to many great dinner options. For all of these features, the hotel was super affordable and we would highly recommend it to anyone!
