Frank and O'Nell were really great tour guides. You can tell that both guys love NY, and they were knowledgeable about all sorts of information that you won't expect to get in a tour. I enjoyed the fact that we got off the bus and walked around some as a group, rather than seeing everything from the street view. We saw a lot in 5 hours, way more than we could have seen on our own. Great photo opportunities.
We had a small group, only 14 people, which was nice, and made it feel less commercial and more personal. We had a groupon which made this tour a real bargain, but even the regular price is worthwhile.
During our tour, the bus broke down. They tried to get it jumped, but were unable to fix the problem. No worries, though, they didn't let it spoil the fun. They gave people the option of ending the tour there, or continuing on a modified route to FiDi and the WTC area via subway, and then taking the subway back to our original departing destination. All but two people stuck around for the modified version, and I'm glad we did. ONell really made the most of the situation, and it was really enjoyable. I don't even consider the bus issue to be a downfall, that type of thing happens, and you just roll with it.
However, the one negative for me was that we weren't on the original route specified on their website even when the bus broke down. The site specified lunch on our own in Chelsea Market, so we'd done our research and checked yelp for ideas on where to eat during this period. We ended up stopping at Eataly, which was disappointing just due to the sheer chaos of that place. I was really looking forward to Chelsea. Oh well.
In any regard, you'll get personal service from NYSee tours, good information, comfortable seats, and a positive view of many NYC sites. As O'Nell put it, it's an "appetizer" of many of the great things to see and do in NYC, and that's a great way of thinking about it. You'll learn a little about a lot of different places and sites, and be able to add some things to your "must do/must see" list. Go for it. You'll have fun. read more
