Hi, my name is Lani and I am a Google Diagnoser. Yep. I am on of *those* people. And this means…read morethat I try a lot of things to remedy issues. My latest quest? Acupuncture. I'd heard of the student clinic at Endeavour College and figured that at $15 for an hour session, it was the perfect way for me to dip my toes into the world of acupuncture and see if it was actually for me, and more importantly, if I noticed any results. I've had two sessions so far, and while I'd definitely consider it a work in progress, I am noticing an overall improvement in not only the primary issue I sought the treatment for (severe lower back pain) but in my total energy levels, attitude and a lasting effect of balance. I'm even noticing I'm eating less. The students are fully supervised and their supervisor comes into the sessions regularly to check that all is going well. I'm yet to feel in any way uneasy about the students that have practiced on me. Don't stress. I'm getting to what you all want to know. The needles? Honestly? I don't feel them. Sure you *know* they're sticking a needle in you but do you feel any pain? I'm told it is different for everyone but, I personally, haven't felt anything more than a quick prick of the skin. Once they are all in it actually feels like a nice current is washing over you. A calmness if you will. The sessions can take a little longer as they are student practitioners and they begin each session with a short Q&A and sign-off from their supervisor. For $15 though, I can't complain and I would whole-heartedly recommend to anyone wanting to either save a few quid or test it out without dropping a wad of cash.

Go to endeavour College for a consultation! The clinics are run by third years, so In a few months the services and advice they give you for... $10!!! They will be charging hundreds, Naturopathy, aromatherapy, massage, acupuncture.... And way more that I didn't read, all as cheap as chips. Seriously, I can't talk it up more. The students that run clinic are professional and know their stuff, I'm currently in my third week for dietary analysis and the guy that is working with me is top notch, he explains things to me simply, and he doesn't let it get awkward even when he has to ask personal questions. The massages are not just the oily, waste of time massages that you get at a lot (A LOT!) of places in the city, they are actually about improving you physically, fixing pain or dealing with the neck problems from cramming at your desk all night. I love a bargain and I love my health, so this is my new happy place.

My mother's friend gave me a voucher for a massage at Spring Hill Physiotherapy, so one day when my neck was particularly sore I called up and made an appointment. I must admit I didn't hold high hopes - most of the massages I've ever had are basically just an expensive back-rub. I wanted the kind of massage that actually had some ongoing therapeutic benefits. The kind of massage that feels like your muscles are being affected and gives you goosebumps and weird twitches from nerves being touched. Spring Hill Physio made me realise that a proper massage is worthwhile and provides lasting relief for pain. Maybe the key is getting a massage at a physiotherapist rather than a day spa or massage parlour, or maybe the masseurs at Spring Hill Physio are exceptional. Either way, I've become a regular and whenever my neck and shoulders are giving me grief I make an appointment. An added bonus is that because it's a medical establishment, your health fund might subsidise some of the cost (depending on your level of coverage). I've never had a massage elsewhere as good as the ones I've had at Spring Hill Physiotherapy, and even though my new obsession with Yelping is definitely not doing my neck any favours, I know Spring Hill Physio will!

Sarah is warm, caring and considerate - everything you want in a practitioner helping you and guiding you to wellness. Although she is only in the clinic on set days each week (Thursday and Friday from memory), making an appointment was easy and I found it best to pre-book at the end of each appointment. Her insight into Chinese medicine was fascinating and I walked away from each appointment having learned something new. I would whole heartedly suggest an appointment with Sarah if you're considering acupuncture and want to feel like more than just a "patient." I also believe she does massage.
