My wife and I have never been to any natural therapy clinic before and as it was gift vouchers for reflexology session, we didn't want to waste it as it was expiring by the end of December 2014 and went with an open mind.
The greeting was friendly, the receptionist went into giving us choices about which therapy we'd like. My wife stuck to reflexology but I went with what I thought was reflexology/back massage combination. At no stage were we asked if we had pre-existing medical conditions prior to treatment.
During the course of the treatment the therapist periodically asked if I was going ok, to which I responded, yes.
With myself laying face down, it was when she got to the lower back that the treatment was getting intense and painful. She put pressure on a region on the right side of the spine just above the pelvis which sent pains all the way to the left hand groin area. I flinched and moaned a bit but pressed on.
After the session I was able to get up, move about normally and go home.
That evening, while washing my hands to get ready for dinner, my lower back suddenly caved in and could barely stand up straight due to the pain.
Today (Monday 15/12/2014) I made an appointment with my doctor to examine my lower back and ask for a certificate for work.
I think it will heal with rest but rest assured I won't be letting anyone ever touch my back unless they were orthopedic surgeon or physio therapist. read more
