This conveniently located road side cafe served well for a stimulating stopover during a misty drive up to Kaikoura/ Blenheim. The first meat pies were to be had along with second coffee in the form of second flat white. Living my best flat white life in NZ with zero shame. Theirs was a little frothy, as in, more like a latte which I do not mind, but others might. The chocolates on the spoon were a sweet added touch. The pies were a whomping 16.5 NZD each (usually under 10 NZD everywhere else), the Beef and Lamb & Mint ordered. The beef was on the blander side, but the lamb with the mint was perfect. The pies do come ultra loaded at least. The pastry had minor flake and these were straight pucks with no upper puff. Very cozy inside and bathrooms were clean. A very strategic pitstop for the weary traveler! read more
