Wow, what a beautiful campus NUI Galway has. Reminds me of Harry Potter. Stop by when in the area.

We were traveling and came across an elderly man that had been knocked over by an unleashed dog on…read morethe Mutton causeway to the lighthouse, near Salthill. He was bleeding from a deep gash on his head, his nose was dripping blood, and blood was dripping from his right arm, which appeared could be broken. He also looked like he may be going into shock. We called emergency services. After 25 minutes of sitting at the end of the causeway, in the cold, and on the hard rocks waiting for them, we finally took him ourselves to the hospital. Once at the hospital itself there was no triage done on him. We explained what had happened, and were just told to sit in the ER and wait. There were about 35 other patients waiting to be seen, none of which looked to be suffering as he was. After about 2 hours this man's son came to be with him and we left. We later learned that he had sat there for 20 HOURS before treatment! That was horrifying to us! He was roughly 75-77 years old, possibly concussed, bleeding from wounds from his head and arm, and we later found out his arm was broken at the elbow (hence the dripping blood from his arm). He was in a lot of pain and we couldn't even get an aspirin or pain reliever for him. The staff seemed ill-equipped to answer any questions. The hospital desperately needs a stronger triage system so the patients that are seriously injured can get help before those that are just there because they don't have a doctor get seen.
