This is my first yelp review, shame on me. Although this has been my provider since I have lived in this area, I wanted to research a bit more after becoming pregnant. I had heard great things about the Birthing Center at Beverly Hospital. In the end, I figured it would probably be best to stick with those who know me - Mitra and the office staff had been so wonderful - and I made my first prenatal appointment. I was told it would be with Beth, and, having read these reviews, immediately I was nervous.
Before meeting, I corresponded with Beth via email regarding some questions and concerns I had. She could not have been more professional and accommodating. Unfortunately, when I did meet with her, the situation was such that the odds of this pregnancy remaining viable were not good; she could not have been more sensitive, kind, and comforting. Whenever we spoke or emailed, she always made sure I knew I could call at any time and for any reason.
When I did miscarry, the entire office rallied around me. At what is a very lonely time in one's life, I found such comfort in the concern and kindness shown by Beth, Sally, Mitra.
I do not care to trivialize the negative experiences of others, but I do want to share my vastly different experience. Honestly, while I still think the Birthing Center would be an awesome place to go when I do carry a child to term, if it means having these folks for support, I'd give birth in the back of a Cadillac.
The one drawback to this practice is that there are so many doctors. I met with a doctor at my first appointment with this office in January 2012 and that was the last time I saw anyone other than an NP until two years later after a sonogram that revealed a potential issue. I don't think it would be difficult, during a normal pregnancy, to really only see an NP or perhaps meet half of the doctors, if that. I don't love the idea of not knowing nor having met the doctor who would potentially deliver my baby. read more
