Or as my husband would say "it a place for hippies." They had lots of cool sterling silver jewelry from Thailand. The prices were quite reasonable too. They had lots of earrings and bracelets in the $10-$25 range. I really didn't look at much else in the store, but they had beads, wooden knick knacks, pillows, and clothing that looked like they were from Nepal, Indonesia and Thailand, among other things. I loved these kinds of stores in my middle school and high school years, but it's not quite my aesthetics anymore, with the exception of the jewelery, because I still love sterling silver, it's the most suitable metal for my colouring. I had a great time browsing their large jewelery section. I almost bought the cutest bracelet, but it was a tad too big for me :( Staff were very nice. I always stop by when I'm in Halifax to poke around a bit, and be reminded of my style as a teenager, lol.

Learning the ways of retail, his cuteness is the perfect way to begin this endeavor. What a sweet little shop. Although its been open for about ten years, I'd only recently learned of Wildflower from an acquaintance. Its confines are currently dressed in soft, breathable garments and assuring color palates. (Periwinkle, charcoal, rose pink, nude, and flecks of colour amongst it all!) Its actually a breath of fresh air, and a different variety from other independent boutiques in the area. I was elated to discover the accumulation of Free People frocks, which is probably my favorite [semi] affordable brand of all time. The owner mentioned that they would be getting more in soon-- whoo hoo! The overall stock seems romantic, flowing, and of excellent taste. Cute tops, rich fabrics and cuts are here for the taking. I think its safe to say that Wildflower has Bohemian Romantic down. The owner of the shop offered me genuine conversation and an easy shopping experience. I was the only patron at the time, so we chatted as I browsed. There was no pressure, no facade-- just good conversation and a shop full of wonders. After much swooning and chit-chat, I know this is a boutique I can dig. Besides the clothes, there were also some pretty neat accessories. I'd say the owner of Wildflower has a great eye. Understated, funky, classic and bohemian looks are all fused into one cohesive collection. All you need is a paycheck. xo

Really the only downside to Wildflower is the cost but check them out for their sale rack and accessories!

Dang budgets. When you first enter the store you'll find yourself faced with tables and tables of adorable nick nacks and homewares to browse though - so many cute mugs and beautiful candles! One day I dream that my home will be filled with them. They've also got journals, books, even a kids gift section. Further back you'll find clothing - men's is on the upper level and women's on the lower. They've also got a killer jewellery section (which is where I've found myself most often drooling over the rings and earrings). I never look closely at the clothing because I don't want to tempt myself (out of my price range), but just glancing at the racks I and tell there are a lot of cute things that I hear are really great quality. From the little bit of browsing I've done the sizes are all pretty small...whomp whomp. In the men's section you'll find wallets, shave kits and some really fun socks in addition to the standard clothing fare. Don't miss out on the back section behind the men's clothing where the sale stuff is! They've always got a good selection of sale things. I really love the idea of shopping at Biscuit General, but unless it's some of the smaller items I just don't have the budget for it. It can get very pricey very quickly. That being said if you have more room in your budget definitely give Biscuit General a shot - it's definitely a local gem!

If my home could look like the interior of the Independent Mercantile, I'd be happy. I love the furniture, but I almost love the knick knacks even more. Door knobs, door knockers, candles, some makeup, cards, beard care kits...if you're a young professional I bet you'll find something you'll like in this store. I've got my eye on the cotton curtains they sell (at least I hope they still sell them! They did one of the last times I was in) in particular. They're beautiful designed and because they're cotton they'll last forever. *thumbs up* If you like the vibes of Biscuit General Store, you'll like the Independent Mercantile. They're very similar aesthetics, though this shop focuses on the home rather than fashion. (I think they have the same owner? Eco products tend to costs a ridiculous fortune. Regardless, I love this store and think it's simply adorable.

As for fashion, there are clothes for kids at Bib & Tucker, as well as a number of shops for men and women that are unique and not your typical mall selection. One of my favorite shops is Uncommon Gear a very eco friendly place to buy toys, games and gear from strollers to every other nurturing thing kids need. Several home decor and foodie focused shops like Cucina Moderna, Backyard & Veranda (that has lots of stuff for indoors as well). There's even a branch of Stokes (always has sales and fun kitchen gear). The far end of the mall has travel agency, shoe repair...and more, plus access to Canadian Tire. That being said, it has some unique stores and a pleasant artsy vibe (especially on the end of the mall that houses Pete's Frootique). The mall is mainly centered around Pete's Frootique as a prime destination, and prime destination it is.. It's somewhat comparable to "Whole Foods" in the US albeit on a smaller scale, but it makes up for its small size with a huge variety of food items that you are unlikely to find anywhere else in the city. The mall also has a variety of the standard cell phone carrier stands, a (too?) small Indigospirit bookstore, Mark's work wearhouse, Hallmark etc. The food court is small but the quality and health consciousness of the non-chain food vendors here makes it a very attractive to stop by for a meal... especially if you enjoy fresh ingredients and want a break from the monotony and excessive food processing offered by the standard fast food chains.

Eclectic musings come together to form Lost & Found's fashionably homemade North End boutique . The shop's mood is quiet and thoughtful, just as its clothes. Music is easy, and the store keeper sews away in a corner wooden chair. Piecing through the assorted racks, I become awe struck by the profuse selection of gorgeous things. Most times I am able to edit down final selections before the efforts of the fitting room; however, this was not the case. The clothing variety is of impeccable taste, as every item on display is hand picked, and/or altered with special detailing. And with such reasonable pricing-- it all seems too good to be true. (A large rack dedicated to post-season sales provides some gorgeous steals!) Clothing is displayed on thick wooden hangers, and well managed framework; the result is chic and polished confines. Divorce Records is an added bonus to the Lost & Found experience. Peek through this Halifax based label's selection for some stellar anti-industry music variety. Vinyl and CDs are for sale, and allow an opportunity to acquire new tastes, without commercial fluff. Also noteworthy: bin filled with $2 Vinyl picks.
