Honest Review of Nova Property Management (Anchorage, AK) I've lived here for about four months, and I want to share an honest and fair experience. Communication with the Nova office can be very difficult -- phone calls often go unanswered or you're kept on hold with no response. Some staff members, like Christopher, have been dismissive and difficult to work with. When I reported serious maintenance and safety issues, I felt ignored or spoken to in a way that was unprofessional and lacking empathy. However, the reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 1 is because of Sally. If you ever need help from Nova, ask specifically for Sally. She is professional, respectful, and gets things done. She listens, follows through, and treats tenants like real people. If it weren't for her, I would have given this place half a star and advised others to stay away. Sally is the only person who made me feel heard and supported. She made sure repairs were completed and showed true care for tenants -- and that deserves recognition. I genuinely hope Nova understands how valuable she is to their company. i've had an excellent experience with Nova Property Management, and a huge part of that is because of their staff. Everyone I've interacted with has been professional, friendly, and genuinely helpful. They take their time to answer questions clearly and never make you feel like an inconvenience. The team is very responsive and communicative, which makes a big difference. Whether it's emails, calls, or maintenance request, they follow through and keep you informed throughout the process. It's clear the staff is knowledgeable and actually cares about doing their job. It's refreshing to work with a property management company where the people truly make the experience positive. Avoid Nova Property Management at ALL costs. This company is an absolute nightmare, and I have experienced nothing but stress, harassment, and financial mismanagement since moving in. Financial Negligence & Wrongful Eviction Threats * I paid my rent in full with a cashier's check, yet they falsely claimed I underpaid and issued me a wrongful eviction notice. * My bank confirmed that they never even cashed my check before accusing me of owing money. * After researching, I found other tenant reviews reporting similar issues--lost payments, financial errors, and eviction threats. Retaliation & Harassment * After I left a negative review about their poor maintenance, they suddenly escalated inspections, false charges, and eviction threats. * They entered my bedroom while I was sleeping, turned on the light, and then pretended it was an accident. * The property manager, Evelyn, has been consistently dismissive and manipulative, delaying responses until it's too late to fight back. Horrible Maintenance & Unsafe Living Conditions * Took over a month to fix a broken kitchen sink, leaving me without a way to do dishes. * Icy, untreated walkways where multiple tenants have fallen--completely ignored by management. * Maintenance workers are unqualified and have a history of leaving work unfinished or making things worse. * Other tenant reviews report mold, leaks, broken appliances, and unresolved safety hazards. Nova property management does not have an electronic payment system to pay rent!!!!! It is tremendously inconvenient for me to have to drive 30+ minutes to another city to pay my rent IN PERSON. I was given no sympathy for not having a vehicle, and now have 70$ of fees on top of my rent to pay. I am extremely disappointed that my apartment building was purchased by this company. They have introduced more stress into my life... I did not think that was possible. I am now motivated to move out of my apartment that I once loved, and into somewhere more considerate of their tenants... 0/10 read more

This is a nightmare of a property management company. Multiple calls about returning security deposit and this company sent the check to the property I just moved out of. They won't cancel the check until they receive it from the new tenant. They are always unorganized and you have to pay your rent in person. What century do we live in? I'm not sure what others' experience is but I'll tell you one thing: if you're honest and don't play they are a good company. They have worked with us and have been more than fair. We have some extremely loud neighbors and I have to say, one complaint and they took care of it. These people have kids coming in all hours of the day and night. My husband observed one child (in a grocery store) throw his body weight full on the ground and his mum thought it was hilarious. Not so if you're hearing that all hours of the day and night I assure you! The neighborhood leaves a lot to be desired but I assume that Nova will take care of us, they have before. Now if I can elbow my way in to the washer and dryer ( the neighbor runs a service I'm convinced) I'll review and give it a perfect review. This is a real review from a real renter. My apartment is beautiful to say the least. Not perfect but everything I asked the universe for. It has a beautiful window in the kitchen where I can grow herbs. It's clean with few bugs and 0 rodents. When I put furniture in I'd be glad to entertain. I see a bar and beautiful artwork. Overall I'd give them a chance. read more

Hands down the worst property management company I have ever worked with. They overcharge and do not deliver. My house after the last person left was disgusting. I am filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and will most likely be taking them to court for negligence. Please look for other options. read more

Ok, so this place is literally like every other trash property management company that's found in Anchorage. They may be better priced, it their service is literally the same. I thought they were great...... at first. We transitioned from Pac-Rim property management company (see my review on them for more information) and they seemed to have their ducks in a row. It wasn't until we were in our final months with them, selling our home to the tenants that had been occupying our property for the previous 2 years. You'd think it'd be an easy process. It was not. First things first. Apparently they "lost" the pet deposit that the tenants had placed and tried having US pay them back. Then, the company "attempted" to fix up the home prior to THE SAME PEOPLE moving in. So, let me make this a bit more clear for those not tracking. They tried fixing up the property, using MY money, for things the buyers didn't WANT fixed in a certain way. Come to find out they didn't even do it correctly! My realtor needed to hire a third party to fix what they tried to fix! They charged us $580 for what the third party repairman ended up fixing for $180! My realtor ended up getting the difference back for us, AND the pet deposit they took out of the rent payment. So, overall, don't try to tempt fate with this agency, and don't waste your money or time. They're all about lining their own pockets and doing cheap fixes in order to do so. After renting from these people for 16 years, February this year I relocated to another state. I gave my 30 day notice, left my deposit and gave them my contact information. Never heard a thing. I figured it was a closed deal. Now, 7 months later I find out they sent me to collections!! I called, talked to a "property manager" and tried to explain the situation. He said he would call me back with the information I requested. After one week NO call, so I called back. His focus once again was "why hadn't I called before now?" I couldn't call about something I wasn't aware of. HELLO! I could tell he wasn't listening so I requested to speak to his supervisor! OMG, he totally went off, yelled that 'HE WAS WHO I NEEDED TO SPEAK WITH!!' Ended up hanging up on me. lol Owners and Renter beware, Nova Property Mgnt. is ONLY about Nova Property Mgnt. read more

You do NOT want this people as your landlord or realtor. First, property managers who are way to busy to check the move in process. I moved in to a nasty two bedroom in south side. She does not know what happened to the apartment. I finished the move in inspections without the property manager. It took them to meet with a week later to confirm the dusty, stained, and nasty bedrooms, kitchen floors, and toilet/shower. DO NOT BRING CASH FOR RENT PAYMENT. Cashiers are thieves. Cashier brags; they have been doing this for over five years. I answered back that counting money before putting it away should always a BIG and ONLY proper way to handle monies. Office manager does not call back, period. I reported this office BBB. You cant be professional to them, They will mistreated you. Nova Property Management does not manage your property. They don't have assigned parking. They don't "do" that. Safety is not their concern. So they don't "do" that. read more

As a homeowner you are invested in the property you own. In turn when you entrust someone your property (properties), you'd like to know that they are well taken care of. Nova property management co. Was not a company we want looking after our home. We attempted to initiate a business relationship and would get the run around along with a string of lies to cover up their lack of interest in our business. It's been over two weeks now since the big earthquake and they are still dealing with contacting homeowners with status updates on their properties. They promise big name advertising for your property and when asked to deliver they give you a Craigslist listing. When you text to check on how things are going they do not respond to texts or calls. We are going with Real Property Management Company and already it is a night and day difference in professionalism and timeliness. read more

I was a customer/tenant to NOVA property management for 4 years. I was late on my payment one time in all those years which tacked an extra $50, cool, I understand. I ALWAYS paid my bill in cash in person. When I went to make my payment for November 2015 at the end of october, I verbally put in my 30 days notice. The man who I had spoke to (who apparently no longer works there) had said nothing about having to fill out a form. One month later with an entire day left in the month to spare, I dropped the keys off and said I'm completely moved out and they had said cool, safe travels! I never received my security deposit back which was $1,450 let alone a reason as to why. Around May/June 2016, I started getting calls from a collection agency saying I owe NOVA $450 ON TOP of the security deposit they already robbed of me. I called NOVA immediately and asked what the heck was up. It took them almost a month to even figure out what happened. They had told me that since I hadn't filled out a written 30 days notice of leaving, they tagged on an extra month and a half of rent on me. I gave them the keys with a day to spare in november, they didn't even record it until December 8th. Mitze or misty, whatever her name is, had told me that I was a 1% error in their system and the guy who no longer worked there messed up by not making me fill out a written 30 days notice form. With this being said, she called it in and got my collections dropped. So then I was questioning where the hell my security deposit is at. Mitze said that since they had already given it back to the owner, there was nothing she could do about it. So due a mistake on their behalf, I have to lose almost $1,500. I have been to talk to them over 5 times in person about this and EVERYTIME been brushed off and told a note would be left for the "owner" or "boss" to give me a call. Numerous times I've been told this and not one time have I received a call back about getting my security deposit back. These are horrible people to deal with, very unproffessional, and liars. I never even received an apology for any of this mishap. Mitze was extremely rude about the entire situation and after a few times of me showing up, wouldn't even show her face to me anymore. I'm disgusted with how this business is ran. On a lighter note, Elai that works customer service up front is absolutely amazing. He was always helpful and extremely friendly every time I showed up. I wish that it was him I was able to do deal with about this entire situation. read more

If I could post a zero star review I would. About 5 years ago, I rented a home with NOVA and was absolutely dismayed in their response in everything from rent collection, maintenance and just general responsiveness. We lived in the home for almost two years and not once did they come to conduct a walk through. I remember thinking that if I was a homeowner, I would never consider using them. Fast forward to now. We just moved back to Alaska from out of state and I saw a home come up, to my dismay it was listed with NOVA. I thought, " well I can give them one last chance, maybe they changed." Both my agent and I called last week and they said that they were replacing all of the flooring in the home and that it would not be ready for showing until this Monday (04/29/2019). I called on Friday to set a time to view and they said it would not be available to see until Wednesday (05/01/2019). I contacted my agent today and asked if she could get us in to see whether the floor were done or not. I can visualize what will be but just wanted to see the space. She is informed that they have already received applications and are not willing to show the property until these go through. That would have been a really nice thing to tell me or my agent when we called last week multiple times. I probably would have put an application in but your shadiness reminds me why I should have never reconsidered NOVA in the first place. There are many property management groups in Anchorage, I urge you to consider any other one other than NOVA. read more

Renting from this company has been a terrible experience. I worked with Val, the property manager for my apartment in West Bluff Condos in Anchorage, AK. The first time I met Val to be shown my apartment she told me about her divorce and the fact that her husband had a restraining order against her- completely unprofessional. Then she gave me wrong info about my apartment such as she did not know the heat was electric (which is very expensive). She also told me I had a storage unit included in my rent which I was given the key to and then called a few weeks later that it is in fact not included and would be charged an extra $100 a month. My experience with Val at move out has been equally unprofessional and disorganized. I would not only never rent from this company again but I would advise no one to use this company to manage their property. read more

The only reason they got 1 star is because I have to give them something. My family has rented from many different companies and these folks are the worst. I went almost a month without having a working stove or oven for the first 3-4 weeks of our rental with them. This included the Christmas holiday. We had no way to fix dinner for Christmas for the family because they refused to fix the issue after weeks of complaints. The apartment was disgusting and unclean when we moved in and they didn't dump the trash for almost two weeks because the trash company had been calling them about a mattress that had supposedly been blocking their ability to pick up the dumpster. Not true. We never missed rent payment and were good tenants. Upon move out they tried charging us for a mattress (because the apartment was furnished) they told us to throw away because it was soaked in piss when we moved in. My wife went to turn the keys in after we moved out and we had accidentally packed the 2nd set of keys in her other purse which was at our new house. The lady at the front desk told my wife she could bring them in later and my wife asked if she could mail them because we live the valley now. The lady told her to not worry about it they were going to have to re-key the place anyway. Then when asking for over two weeks after move out where my deposit was they told me because we didn't have the keys at the time of turn-in that we were responsible for "damages" and had to pay to get the re-key done and because of that they had 30 days to get me my deposit. The manager refused to even apologize or talk to the front desk worker or anything. He just kept saying it was our fault and that we knew we needed to have the keys at turn-in. He said because I admitted to him over the phone that we didn't have the keys he wasn't concerned with what THEIR employee told me only that I admitted to not having the keys. I will be posting this over every website I can. If humanely possible stay away from NOVA. Michelle is a horrible property manager and I wish I could remember the managers name that I talked to because I would put him up here too. Awful. read more
