It was with some interest that I found myself in this branch of Barclays for the first time…read morerecently. I usually use larger branches in Braintree and Chelmsford town centre which, though relatively efficient, are somehat impersonal. How refreshing then to stumble upon this branch! It is 'manned' by two ladies who clearly remember what old fashioned 'service' is. Far from taking my cheque and putting it to one side to pay to my account later in the day, I found that my cheque was taken and I was asked to wait and ensure it had gone into my account properly. I was then asked if I needed anything else and had a pleasant chat about the weather! I have to say it all took 5 times longer that my usual visits but I came out with a smile on my face . and a positive feeling about Barclays! If you have the time pay a visit :0)

She'd already called and checked this was okay and how much it would cost. All I wanted was the company's generic bank details so I know where to send the payment to. They were not willing to provide this and claimed it was due to data protection. Well this is silly and over the top as there's no personal information given if they provide me just with generic payment information. If they are this obstructive with a basic query then how can anyone rely on them to look after them in hardship . Definitely wouldn't use them in the future. Plus what sort of an amateur company uses an @gmail email address?
