One of the reasons I use Uwharrie Bank is their commitment to the community. The bank is always sponsoring events and supporting local initiatives--support local so your money stays local!! Uwharrie Bank is a North Carolina Bank, and it only has one location in Concord, which obviously gets frustrating when you are across town. Additionally, the location is not open on Saturdays (although they have extended Friday hours which is helpful). None of this is surprising for a local bank, but it is the reason why I gave Uwharrie Bank four stars.

Rather you stand in line there's two employees working and they go back in cash. Your check deposit your check whatever that is it is very different. I went in to get a notary since I bank at this branch. Since I was not in need of the bank teller, I went to the office where an employee named Tyrone was sitting. I asked him if I could get a notary. Tyrone said that he would let his colleague know. The time between me asking that question and me getting assistance was 15 to 20 minutes. Tyrone never attempted to make a call never got up and did not help me as he said he would. Finally, a very nice lady named Linda. George assisted me. She was very friendly, very kind and helped me with what I needed done. When you encounter someone like Tyrone you begin to question the security of your money. He did not care about his customers. He had no social skills. It appeared he didn't want to be there. I will do all I can to never go to the branch. I visited the one in downtown Concord this week. What a world of difference. I wrote my account numbers on a piece of paper and the amount I wanted to transfer. I placed it in the tube with along with my ID. But if it was a huge problem the teller could have sent the cash back through the window and I would have confirmed. I hear the same young lady that just helped me tell her colleague that "why would she send her money in and not count it" I guess she forgot that her speaker was on. I have deposited and used my money continuously; however, they just charged me $7 for "inactivity." I was not sent a notice nor have I been sent an updated debit card to actually use this account, which is why I was only able to use this account for sending/receiving money from friends. I wrote to them this morning to just mail me my remaining balance and close the account. I'm hoping they are fair to those of you who actually have debit cards so that you can give them the activity they need to avoid that and other charges. They used to be so good to me when I lived there, but if you move they don't communicate with you and just do things without attempting to contact you. At least that had been my experience.

As usual no bank managers were there. So the bank teller stated she could help me. She told me that if I do a cashier check for the transaction then that will leave a paper trail. So i did as she suggested. I gave the contractor the check, he leaves, then comes back in after a couple of hours to cash the check. The same stupid teller I spoke with cashed the check. He took off with the money. Spoke to the bank manager and he stated the teller gave me the wrong information and that I should have spoken to someone that was trained to give that information. So even though he admits she was wrong and should have at least called me when he returned to the bank, they cannot help me. So now I am out of my money because of ignorance on the banks part. So I would steer far away from this bank or any First Citizens bank. As someone else suggested they are just in it for the money and have no concerns, or intelligence for that matter, to help the customers.
