Heard a store employee (man) refer to a black woman at one of the pump's as a "fucking bitch" this…read moremorning over the error the employee himself had made. Once inside the store, he told another customer that the woman at the pump "screwed me out of 10 bucks." He went into painting his narrative to the woman in front of me at the counter, telling her how the error happened. He had prepaid $10 on the wrong pump, unknown to the lady at the pump. I pointed out that HE screwed himself out of $10. The employee set a presale of $10 at the wrong pump. The lady he used the foul language towards had put her card in the pump, unaware of the employee's error, so when the pump stopped at $10 the customer at the pump became confused as she intended to put more than $10 in her tank and thought her card had authorized her sale on the pump. The employee was outside explaining his mistake to the lady at the pump when I first pulled up to put gas in my own vehicle but his tone was immediately obviously aggressive upon stepping out of my vehicle, so the lady waved him off and told him to go away. When said employee said what he said, I responded by telling him he shouldn't speak to his customers like that. His tone was condescending with me in his response of, "Yeah maybe I shouldn't." When I asked him if he'd want a man speaking to his wife or daughter like that, he responded with, "Yeah, if it's earned!" I told him I'd be speaking to his manager. His response to that was,"Good, I don't care. He's right down the street at the other store (452 Amherst St Nashua, NH)." The lady from the pump came in after I had asked my husband to assist her with the pump. My husband had explained what had happened and why she only got $10 when she first pumped. The lady came into the store to pay for the $10 that she didn't know was on the pump when she pulled up. The employee told her it was fine and that he will eat it. She wanted to make it right but the employee insisted she didn't need to pay for it. I told the employee that he owed the lady an apology for calling her a "fucking bitch" and for telling another customer the lady screwed him out of the $10. I remained present until he apologized to the lady. After I made my purchase I drove down to the other store. I told his manager what transpired and he said he would investigate. I asked for his district manager's name so I could contact them, not because the manager did anything wrong, but because I wanted to make sure that upper management was informed and understood how egregious the matter was, and the District Manager happened to be in the store in that moment so the manager pointed him out to me. I introduced myself to the District Manager and told him about the situation. The DM's name is Dean Palmer. His demeanor was that of someone not overly concerned and said he'd have to do an investigation. When I said that I'll also be calling the corporate office he told me it didn't matter because it would get routed back to him to investigate. He asked for the employee's name but the employee was not wearing a name tag so I could not provide one. I gave a description of a bulky guy, maybe 6', maybe less, in his later 40's, with dark curly greying hair. I hope that an investigation is done. The employee was too comfortable speaking to a woman the way he did. He felt too comfortable to speak to me the way he did but I can handle my own, but the lady he spoke so crassly of is a soft spoken woman of color with a slight accent. His aggressive tone was certainly overpowering her at the pump. His aggressive demeanor and his blatant lack of caring if I contacted upper management about I witnesses, tells me he doesn't respect the patrons of the store or his job. I hope if I go in there again that he will no longer be employed by Cumberland Farms. He has no place working in customer facing positions, especially where women frequent. If he can't own his mistakes or his aggressive emotions in check, then he has no place behind a Cumberland Farm's counter serving this multi diverse community of people.
