A Flintstone lunch box. Remember these?

A resale store in Columbus, Texas suggested we go to this antique store, so since we were doing on a day trip to Bellville, we did. Great store with lots of interesting vintage items. When you enter the store, off to the left they have some very interesting jewelry. (Not vintage, but very creative.) Someone had even painted washers that you could buy and wear as a small pendant on a necklace. (Why didn't I think of that!!) We thought the items were a bit pricey, but I would think you could make an offer and negotiate. The owner was at the cash register and she was lovely. I was checking out with an item and we had a nice conversation. (She told me the store has ghosts. I told her she should write a mystery novel on one of the vintage typewriters and call it Nothing Ordinary.) Check the store out. Sort of like going to a museum and I am sure you will buy something. I did.

The only way we knew to go to this place was via the store owner at Mustang Alley Antiques over in Cat Spring. You might miss the store if you're not paying attention when you drive into the town square, so go slowly! The first room on the right seemed a little 'taxidermy-ish' and I was concerned that we'd be disappointed. But once you remember to take your time and look at everything, you get lost in time. From 1800s to 1970s items, they have everything. Explore the shop and don't be looking for something specific if you can help it. We actually stumbled upon a beautiful German telephone from 1904 (complete with attached paperwork) and had to bring it home. Talk to the store clerk and negotiate prices. The base prices are a little high, but we knocked almost 25% off of the phone price by asking her to call the booth owner. Be sure to go into the very back rooms and porch, plus the sale rooms. This is our new favorite treasure spot!

What a selection! Looks like they have been collecting for a hundred years. I like tools and old equipment and they have plenty in back.
