My sister and I just happened to come by this quaint little coffee place called, "Not Your Average Joe", which is really nice and charming. Working the front counter was run by an awesome trio Abbi, Isaac, and Donovan who were all cheerful and very welcoming. The atmosphere is very quiet, warm and very inviting. Came to "Not Your Average Joe" coffee shop in Midtown for the first time today and was surprised by the unexpectedly comfy interior. The vines of green plants growing across the ceiling, an eclectic mix of comfortable seating, and a variety of lights, paint colors, and fun art. The menu is coffee, sandwiches, breakfast items, protein balls, etc. I got the turkey sandwich and potato soup and both were amazing. My friend got an open faced roast beef sandwich which was also good. We also got a turtle latte and spicy chai which were good. The service was friendly. We took a seat after we ordered and they brought our items directly to us. After we ordered we found out that the coffee shop was actually a non profit that employs individuals with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities. Eat great and do good. I find I need to ask them to cook it 1-2 minutes extra. The French may sue me, but I want it BAKED (which I think they would call dry). Don't get me wrong, I do love coffee, but the tea is so good when it's cold outside and you don't want something too heavy. I get mine with two packets of Splenda and I'm good to go! I like to come in here to study. There are a few tables and a variety of chairs to sit on. It's very cozy inside and I like the decorations. It makes it seem like it's someone house kind of. My new favorite place in midtown. I mean, the staff was wonderful. William, our cashier, very consistent and kind! He was extremely helpful. My dad and I ordered a hot drip coffee, an iced matcha, a lemon poppyseed muffin, and what I believe is a scone. So good! The matcha wasn't earthy which was wonderful. The store itself is very laid back and colourful. I felt very down to earth and relaxed there. Absolutely recommend for anyone in the OKC area looking for coffee or a quick snack. It caught my eye on Yelp!! because I'm a huge Harry Potter-head and there are HP-themed drinks on the menu. We were just planning on getting drinks, but then the food sounded really good too. So I got a Drink That Must Not Be Named and a chorizo breakfast burrito, and the boy toy got a matcha latte and a breakfast burrito, then a blueberry muffin to go. It was all DELISH! Even if the food had turned out to be just so-so, I think I'd still give 5 stars on atmosphere alone. When we got there, the owner met us at the door and basically gave us a super warm info-mercial welcome telling us all about the shop and employees (they hire people with disabilities, and they were the sweetest and coolest employees ever). The little shop is super cute, with local art on the walls and a little gift shop full of locally made stuff (like soap, lotions, pickles, dog treats), bags of coffee, and shirts promoting people with disabilities and the shop. If you're a coffee drinker, I def recommend stopping in at Not Your Average Joe's if you're in the OKC area! read more

The service and coffee have improved. I've been coming back after my boyfriend has gotten me their vanilla latte and a sausage kolache. Their vanilla latte is quite good. But their Fall and Winter specials have made me revisit them numerous times. My go-to breakfast lately has been their coffee and a terrifically made sausage kolache from a local bakery. This week I had one of the winter specials called the 'Wise Men Chai.' Surprisingly, it is spicy and flavorful. And today, I had their gingerbread dirty chai called 'Filthy Animal,' which I don't recommend. It tasted off, or the milk was bad. My friends and i came in on a tuesday afternoon randomly and the atmosphere was amazing. the staff were so kind and welcoming, they let us know about their specials running and made sure we got everything we needed. Service was fast and efficient, also a service window if you're not able to step inside!
