This has been on the to do list for so long, but we finally dropped off our 1st box of video tapes to be converted. It took about 2 weeks to convert 10 8mm tapes. We had no clue what was on them as I never marked them after I had made the recordings. They did a good job, I spent the next day watching them and making note of what was on them, I was satisfied that I could trust them with my memories, I have given them another 10 videos to convert. The place was a bit busy with only one person manning the desk and answering the phone, there were three others waiting to drop off /pick up their tapes, but it went fast. I actually did a bit of research before I chose who I should send my audio and video recordings to. Based on their website and their reviews, I chose Nostalgic Media. I have 4 records (78's circa 1961) and 5 VHS tapes (circa '95). They are recordings of my mom who was a mildly successful jazz singer. I thought these items were lost as they were in a storage unit in New Orleans, where we're from, when Katrina hit. In a strange and lovely chain of events, I got them back recently. They are, of course, not in the best of shape but, do have salvageable data. I spoke with Steve on the phone even and conveyed that they were old and damaged. He assured me they would do as good a job as possible. I got everything back yesterday and I am shocked. They didn't even bother cleaning the records before transfer. Nor did they bother to separate the cuts. Each album side was a recording. Obviously, the sound quality was tended to and every scratch and hiss to be found was found on my recordings. The VHS tapes were no better. The sound was stretched in spots. Not a surprise but, they did nothing to try and improve it. And, all of the DVDs were returned with recordings of the entire VHS, in other words, all the blank tape at beginning and end. The work was sloppy and lazy and the results worthless. It was not cheap either. I emailed Steve my disappointment and have gotten NO response. Obviously I also got not offer at a refund; partial or full, which is what I'm due. Being a small business owner, I write reviews regularly because I know how much they can help your business grow. In all my years this is only the second bad review I've ever given. I hope it helps you choose. If you have a very simple job, I'm sure they can handle it. But as they do not actually attempt to restore old recordings I find Nostalgic Media to be a very misleading name. read more

After researching various companies that do archival video transfer, I am happy I chose Nostalgic Media. I chose them initially because their pricing was listed very clearly on the website and the pricing was fair and reasonable. Many other services I looked at seemed to have very convoluted pricing structures and made me worry I was going to get scammed. The price I calculated from Nostalgic Media's website was exactly what the service cost me. My Hi8 tapes, DVD-R media, and a flash drive of the digital files was sent to me in less than two weeks. I needed to transfer all my old CDs and VHS to digital, I made the decision to have it done all at one and was a big order ( more than $600) First I have to say they are very polite and professional, they also did the work pretty fast and the quality of the videos is acceptable taking into consideration that these were very old tapes. The price is average in comparison to other places, more expensive that some online options. The reason for the 3 stars is because 10 % or the transferred videos were hours of old movies! So I paid what I considered a good amount of money to transfer only old movies that I of course deleted. When I contacted the company they told me that they were sorry that they are not there to watch what is a movie and what is not, not for "the amount of money we pay" I guess I have to accept the response, have not other choice. But wanted to make other people aware of this situation so maybe you can take some precautions when using this service. read more

I wanted to digitize my Hi8 8mm tape that I hadn't seen for 10 years. The tape was in perfect condition, kept in its original box on the nightstand at my house (it had the memories of my dear grandfather). Nostaligic Media told me they couldn't read the tape, and they returned my tape wrinkled. It is evident that their equipment damaged this priceless memory. I had to get a bunch of 8mm tapes (old home videos from the 90s) converted to DVD and transfer slides I found of my dads from the 70's to a CD. I did some research (google, yelp, Angie's list) and after comparing price, shipping cost, turnaround time, and other customer reviews... Nostalgic media won my business! (Beating out Costco and Walmart on price for transferring my 8mm videos by almost $10 a piece) I couldn't have been happier with my videos and pictures! When I opened my order each tape was put in an individual bag with the corresponding DVD and labeled accordingly. All of my slides were nearly packed in acid free boxes and my original slide boxes were neatly packed in protective bags (a sure sign they treated my items with care down to the old boxes). I live in Atlanta, so I was able to drop off and pickup my items easily. They finished my job days before the estimated 5 days (much faster than multiple competitors at 4-8 weeks!!!) If you are looking for home videos to be digitized or film transferred to cd...the team at Nostalgic Media are incredible! FAST, competitively priced, reliable and QUALITY work! This is a good store if you want to drop off and pick up merchandise. But if you want to ask questions in a calm inquisitive manner in order to become an educated consumer concerning the scanning process, this is not the store for you. I was told that I would not not be satisfied with the CD, denied the purchase of the CD and told to leave by the front desk employee. Poor customer service! read more

I drove a long way to get here because I didn't want to take a chance and mail my things in. I knew there was a minimum charge of $30, but he wanted $30 minimum for each service. I see now that is clearly stated on their website. So that means if you want slides done and 16mm transfer done, you have to have $30 minimum for each service! If you don't, they will just charge you $30 for each kind of service! It's hard to understand a $30 minimum to begin with and this was difficult for me to pull together enough to meet this requirement. To find out that the $30 was for each kind of service was frankly shocking! If I'm giving you enough business ($30 worth) for you to do, what difference does it make which service I'm using? I think this is ridiculous and a total ripoff! read more

Do not trust - Ask before trying to use Nostalgic. Make sure you understand what you will be getting back. You will pay top dollar and receive what you could have done. They don't tell you all of the short cuts they make, so it's easier for them. I had 40 reels of film to be transferred to DVD's or flash drive. They combined all 40 reels into 4 videos. ?????? These guys are great. Had a lot of 8mm film and they converted them to mp4 in about a week. Results looked good and very reasonable prices.

If you value your archival media, do not bring it here. I brought in an old 8mm film I'd shot in my youth for digitization. The conversion itself was adequate if not spectacular, but my film was returned to me with two sections cut out. I previewed the film the day before dropping it off and it was intact at the time. The company refuses to admit their mistake, even though by claiming not to outsource the work, there are no other possible culprits. One employee I spoke to actually claimed that they are "too lazy" to have cut out the footage, which I suspect was damaged by their equipment. They re-spliced the film together without the scene, presumably hoping I'd not notice...they even asked how I knew something was missing, as if I didn't know the contents of what I had dropped off. Obviously there were no other copies of this film, so those parts are now lost forever thanks to this slipshod work. read more

My experience was less than professional. Dropped off 4 photos to be scanned, they said they would call me when they were ready. They didn't call... so I contacted them the next week... the guy that answered the phone put me on hold... it took him time to find my order and told me it was not ready but they would call me when it was. I then said I can bring my own thumb drive to have them put the jpgs on instead of buying another to save the $15 charge for theirs. He said "ok" we will call you... I got the call and went to pick up the scans and original photos... the guy said that they had already put them on the thumb drive and I had to pay for it. I recanted our conversation and that is when he became hostile and unprofessional... and chastised me for calling the at 9:45 when they open at 10:00. Great conversion technology and personal service in Atlanta! Inherited a trove of 3D stereo slides taken in the late 1950's. Wanted to preserve and share certain images with family. Thought my only option was to use a specialty lab out of town to have the 3D slides converted to disks. What a great find - Nostalgic Media is in Atlanta! I was able to visit the location with my slides, explain what I wanted and ask lots of questions. Just picked up my photo DVD and have been sharing these fabulous images over the internet with out of town family. Keith, the owner, is knowledgeable, on the ball and very customer service oriented. We ordered and paid on line, shipped our tape the next day. 5 days later, we got all the tapes and DVDs back, all of them converted. Very easy transaction, and we are very happy! read more

Just had several reals of negatives scanned at Nostalgic Media. Terrible quality. Not the high resolution that they had promised. Also no dust cleaning of the slides that they scanned, as stated on their website, waste of money and have to redo all now with scan cafe, where I have had much better results. read more

I had more than 20 reels of tape from the late 1950s and early 1960s that I wanted to put on DVD. I had originally responded to an ad I saw on Facebook for another company based in Chattanooga but after waiting more than a week and getting no response I got cold feet and cancelled my order. I looked this company up and decided to give them a try since they were local. WOW! They were extremely professional. They told me exactly what would be done and they did it! I had several reel to reels to transfer to DVD and I didn't really want to go through Walmart to do it having visited 2 stores and neither stores employee's were trained on how to do the service -imagine that, so I wasn't going to send them in either and take any chances. Found these guys online and based on most reviews i went for it. The first "test" was how quick they responded back to my initial email with questions-i was impressed, i got an almost immediate response back with the info i needed so I shipped them off and waited..they quoted me a 5 day turn around time to process once reels received i believe and i was impressed that they were true to there word-i got them back in the quick time frame they stated that i would. If you happened to see my previous review (now deleted) that was negative, you can disregard that, which is why i wrote a new one. Keith from the company was my contact person, he explained more of the process and what happens which made perfect sense. Who knew one DVD would hold 1200 plus feet of footage? Wow! They give you extra copies to hand out to family/friends or what have you plus an Mp4 for your pc. Quality was EXCELLENT..i worried about that because this filmed dated back to the 60's and 70's.
