The worst nights sleep I've ever gotten.
We are staying here on a work related trip and did not get to chose the location. At a glance it looks like a typical cheap-o jersey shore motel. Not a seriously flea bag place but nothing special for what I imagine to be several hundred dollars a night as this place is only a couple blocks from the beach.
Our room was on the ground floor mere steps from the pool. Which is basically the same deal for all the rooms on the ground floor. This may be a pro for some but for us it was a con. They had music constantly playing all afternoon that we could hear as clear as a bell from our room. We could hear every single conversation that was happening outside our door both at the pool, as people walked by, as people sat in the two chairs that I'm assuming were for us directly outside of our door... cool guys. Real cool.
We were over it almost immediately.
On top of that the tv in the front room didn't work at all. Yes, we checked to make sure it was plugged in.
Later in the evening after we returned from a walk to watch the sunset, we came back to find about 15 screaming kids splashing in the pool with only two women "watching" them. Watching gets quotes because they were both glued to their phones and drinking. Mothers of the year. This was at 9 at night on a Wednesday night. I'm sorry. I get that it's just before Memorial Day weekend but what the hell? It's still the work week.
We had to get up extremely early (4am) so we were trying to go to bed around 9:30. I guess the pool shut down around then because the splashing and screaming subsided for only a few minutes. As we were settling into our plastic mattress beds we could hear kids screaming yet again. This built up into kids full blow running around above us, outside our door, in the alley behind the room. There was noise everywhere. We finally got up to see what was going on to find more than ten kids running around the motel like it was a jungle gym and several adults gathered on the deck across the way from us completely ignoring everything going on. It was unreal. You guessed it they were all drinking, perhaps pretending what life would be like if they all didn't have kids and just continued to live as adults with less responsibility?
We gave in and called the front desk to complain but that didn't do much. The group of Moms and Dads clearly didn't have any regard for their misbehaved kids running around after 10pm. This easily continued until after 11:30. Again- parents of the year.
As if all of this wasn't bad enough, right by where our heads were in the wall the pipes hissed, and squealed and creaked ALL NIGHT LONG. It was so loud and jarring, I put ear plugs in and it didn't help at all. We had the bathroom fan running AND a sound machine on my phone. Nothing helped. It was unbelievable. I felt like I was in a freaking movie where one ridiculous thing after another prevented us from getting any sleep at all.
On top of everything else, the next morning as we were packing up to leave we were walked in on twice within 5 minutes of each other before the time we were even supposed to be checking out!! Unreal.
I would definitely not recommend this place if you want to get any sleep or have any quite/privacy. I would have been better off sleeping in the car or in the pagoda down the block near the beach. If you want to drink with a bunch of selfish, oblivious parents desperate to remember what binge drinking and freedom before kids feels like again then have at it. read more
