There are homeless around the Lincoln Park campus too (near the Fullerton station), but they are the sweetest. They just love talking to students and enjoying the environment. I felt so welcomed and blessed. I love this school so much and highly recommend going here!!! I understand expansion but I hated knowing I was paying for most of this and I was not going to get to enjoy any of it. One of the buildings that was purchased during my education stay was the Old Goldblatts Building downtown. DePaul was looking for a business school in the heart of downtown Chicago. They did a great job with the rehab and by adding businesses on the street level. I also loved how they created a mini quad area in the front of the building as a place for students to hang out and smoke. I am being sarcastic about the smoking part because I really hate walking through a wall of unbreathable air. I think that the quad area is 15 feet from the door, so maybe they should go elsewhere to huff and puff. When the new building opened I decided to take one of my business classes downtown. That was a huge mistake because I really did not like the class room. It was not a fun environment to learn in. The room was all closed off from natural light and I felt like I was in a sardine can. In fact, I hated it so much I cancelled the class and found one available at the Lincoln Park Campus. I just could not do it. First, I was taking a boring business class and in that environment it made me want to sleep. My university years are behind me now but the building is still here. Recently I attended a conference which included panels in the DePaul classrooms. And I had terrible flashbacks to my first class in this building. It was dark with no natural light and it was hard to focus on the speaker. I really just did not feel like this is a great space to learn in. I understand that this is downtown and giant class rooms are not going to be designed with open windows. I hope that there are some rooms that are like that but I am not sure because every time I come here I am usually in a dark room. The Business School is perfect for students wanting to enter the business world. It is one of the greatest cities in the world and the school puts you right in the middle of it. I also do not agree with the highest bidder gets to put his name on the school. Recently a Chicago Businessman, who has more money then he knows what to do with, made a huge donation. Because of that donation, DePaul put his name on the building. Let's not forget the poor students who had to incur the yearly tuition hike for all those years, in order for DePaul to buy and rehab this building. Maybe all of us should have our name on here for funding this place. Do I sound bitter or realistic? I would lean towards realistic! This is not my favorite building and recently I was reminded why by visiting here. DePaul was very lucky to grab such a great building in downtown to add to there presence in the city. This makes them a powerhouse when it comes to a good university in the city of Chicago.

Spoke with Sally, and she gave me multiple directions I could go, to pursue careers in either psychology, substance abuse, or social work. As of right now, this campus has helped me more than any others that had my interest. National Louis University, is currently in my radar, and I look forward to touring this campus in the near future. I have read some of the good and bad reviews of this campus, but that doesn't change my interest. Everyone has different learning styles. Just because it didn't work for you at National Louis University, doesn't mean that it won't work for anyone else. It all starts with you as a person to make adjustments, so that you can learn.

The campus itself is beautiful, located in the heart of the Chicago, and an easy commute via CTA train with CTA State/ Lake being the closest train stop to the campus. Other than a few mental health, psychology, child development and social service classes I took mostly my prerequisites at this campus, such as english, reading, math, art, and speech. My program, Addictions Studies transferred to Kennedy King College in 2017, but since I took a majority of my classes at Harold Washington College, it ended up being my 'projected graduation college'. Thinking about it as I share this review, I am happy I took the classes pertaining to my major at Kennedy King College and my prerequisites at Harold Washington College because teaching styles and class sizes were different where Harold Washington College, the classes were a tad larger, and Kennedy King College, the classes were smaller and more intimate. I have had a mixture of good and not so good professors, but for the most part a majority have been good with teaching styles that vary. With that, if you have a good adviser, or know current students they can steer you away from choosing that not so good professor. I also recommend utilizing website 'Rate My Professor', while choosing your classes or once you have chosen them because it will prepare you for what to expect, but do not expect an easy ride. And I highly recommend utilizing tutoring if you need extra assistance other than from your professor. The Veteran Services Center at this campus is amazing and by far the best out of all City Colleges of Chicago. Well informative of scholarships, job fairs, veteran events, and also makes sure my paperwork is up to date prior to the start of the semester. I have never had any issues with my Post 911 GI Bill or IVG (Illinois Veterans Grant) being submitted in a timely manner. The center is located on the second floor and has an area where veterans can do their homework other than in the library or computer lab. As a military veteran, I always feel as though I can let loose being around fellow servicemen & servicewomen. As for administration, I have looked at some of the old reviews and yes! I agree with some, but I have had more positive experiences than bad. And I'am sure that it is no different on any other college campus, so prepare yourself beforehand. As like many other college campuses, you can easily identify the post-high school students by the way they act and because most hang out in groups. The campus used to have a cafeteria in the basement which is now a lounge area for students where video gamers and musicians unite. With the absence of the cafeteria, there are an ample amount of restaurants within the area for students to grab food or snacks prior to or in-between classes. A few of my favorites were Billy Goat Tavern & Grill, 7 Eleven, Chick-fil-A, Protein Bar, Subway and Jason's Deli. The campus was everything I wanted in a college campus and truly the setting standard I look for as I search for a transfer college. I also noticed that financial aid funds were deducted automatically, and at times it seemed like more money was taken than expected. The administration, including the financial aid office and the deans, left me feeling like students came second to tuition and loan payments. Instead of feeling supported, I felt like we were treated as sources of revenue. Additionally, DePaul forced us to do something called "Pyramid Points" (yes, I'm serious, this IS law school), which required us to go to various, almost totally pointless, programs that discussed our careers/networking/etc. The problem with Pyramid Points isn't only that they're largely worthless yet time-consuming, it's also that we weren't told that they were mandatory to register for 2L classes until we had already started school!
