After some time has passed since graduating in the Fall of 2023 with Cum Laude honors, I can safely…read moresay my experience at CSUC was more than worth it. The College of Agriculture helped me significantly in learning advanced concepts in regards to Plant and Soil Science as a transfer student from a community college. The job I currently work at aligns quite well with the curriculum taught by the dedicated professors both in general education and in the college itself. The campus itself is gorgeous all year long and the surrounding downtown area provides many helpful services to make life happen. The outdoor areas too are wonderful and are well worth exploring (time permitting). The financial aid package provided by FAFSA (highly recommended, if not mandatory to apply) too was something neither my dad or I expected to make use of. Not sure why some other reviewers experienced issues with the system. I experienced no problems the whole time while enrolled as a student. Perhaps my enjoyment of the experience is skewed due to the fact that the pandemic greatly altered many aspects of the university itself when I first transferred (then gradually rolled back). If I could, I would give 4.5 stars. At the end of the day, higher education is a choice, and CSUC was a great choice indeed for me!

Financial aid on the other hand could careless. I don't qualify for financial aid so I need to pull out loans. Unfortunately you can't get a loan without filing for FAFSA, so I filed before the deadline which is at the end of February I believe, and my file is still processing. This school does not release loan applications until the file is completely processed. They do not have them online, they do paper. I have been trying to get a hold of them because school starts August 24th and it takes 6 to 8 weeks for loans to pay out. Last time I checked textbooks are expensive and I need those funds to pay for my books. But the school expects me to put them all on a credit card. So put myself in debt while I am waiting to put myself in debt. That makes sense.

The speech pathologist came to our house and now my son sees her in her office. She is great and sees him in the summer when he has no speech during the summer at school. They stopped about a year ago taking medi-cal.

I called and…read moreI explained that my son's primary insurance does not cover speech(I had previously used full circle and that is when I became aware of my insurance not covering speech...I paid full circle what they owed as they billed correctly) I heard that they took Medi-Cal Health and Wellness, I was told yes buy only a certain one, they would check his to see...they did and it was the one they took. I was told they would need a referral from my pediatrician, I called my pedtrician and they 1st sent me a referral to full circle, I called them and told them I needed it for Chico speech and Language because as I had told the Dr. my primary does not cover speech for Autism. When I sent my insurance cards over I reminded them again that my son's primary insurance does not cover speech. We had his evaluation September 2019 and started speech weekly October 2019-mid January 2020. Sarah was the person who actually did the speech and she was great with my son. Mid January I was told that they will not see him till they start getting payments. Monica informed me that they never got a authorization from Medi-cal which they needed to be able to bill the services. I was also informed on a later date that they now have authorization but starting in December, so they were going to change the dates of service so they could get paid. I called medi-Cal in June when I was sent a bill for all the services, I was informed that the dates on the primary EOB (which was a denial but had to be billed in order to bill 2ndry) do not match the dates being billed to them. I wrote a letter and left a voice mail telling Chico speech if they were going to change the dates of service they would have to re bill the primary so the dates would match (which is illegal to change dates of service)They did this, and are now billing me again, and trying to get me to pay because they are a small bushiness and "its the right thing to do". I called Paula the owner who left that message on my phone, I did yell at her when she tried to cut me off, when I wasn't done speaking. I told her how I choose them specifically because they took medi-cal and how I informed them my primary wouldn't cover services twice, she told me "No, we would have seen you if that was the case" I called Medi-Cal again in hopes that maybe I could just send the primary EOBs for them and get them paid, but when I called it was discovered that the billed amounts also don't match the primary EOB( everything has to perfectly matched in order for the claim to be processed and paid). I would gladly pay the bill if the insurance had been billed correctly and they would do their job correctly in regards to billing. It isn't the right thing to do, to pay a bill that isn't my responsibility....in fact doing the right thing is them actually taking the time to bill it correctly or see exactly where the error is. FYI, I did hospital billing for 8 years before I decided to stay at home with my son, so I know a thing or two about billing and what needs to be done and what is legal and illegal. My suggestion to Paula is to have Monica trained better, or fire her and get someone who is trained better (the 1st option I feel would be the best)

Staff were not trained and physically restrained us and were mentally and emotionally abusive. The "schooling" they offer is not real and I was set back a whole school year due to them not properly educating us. I was continually belittled and there were little to no therapy programs actually provided. Some of the things they won't advertise is the time out shed and the fact you are forced to clean up animal manure as a punishment. There is no air conditioning in most of the houses and they force you to work outside in the peak of summer even if you tell them you feel like you are going to pass out. This place was a group home and a halfway home, I was in there with juveniles, foster kids and others with mental illness. I was personally in there for depression and it only got worse over the time I was there. There were only 3 staff members that actually cared about the patients and agreed that we were being mistreated. Many of the staff that I knew from my time there have now quit due to the mistreatment of the patients. The year before I went to this program a staff member was arrested for molesting patients (you can look this up online if you don't believe me). I can assure you many more lawsuits will arise over the years due to how we were all treated. Many people I was in there with suffer from severe trauma. When I was there it got so bad that kids would constantly try and run away, during one of those attempts staff let police assault and detain a patient and another one was hit by a car while trying to get away from staff. Please do not subject your child to the things I had to go through and witness at 15 years old, I still have nightmares of this place and it saddens me people do not know the truth.
