I got excellent customer service every time I called American Family Insurance in Astoria, Oregon…read more My real estate broker, Chris LaPointe at Pacific Pro Realty, gave me this tip. The people who answer the phone at American Family are very nice, and the insurance agent I consulted with (Adrian Birdeno) took my calls whenever possible or returned them promptly. I must have had a dozen conversations with him, and each time he was generous with his time and explained various kinds of coverage in plain language. He's also good at explaining how insurance companies view certain situations if you're new to the world of insurance. I was in the process of applying for my first home loan, so everything was new to me, but if you're in the market for homeowner's or rental insurance, Adrian will put together a great package at very competitive rates without selling insurance that you don't need. Even though I'm new to real estate, I do a lot of reading (Nolo Press books) and spend a good amount of time comparing prices. American Family seemed to offer the most coverage for the lowest price.
