Very responsive when booking the initial "deep" clean. A checklist is provided which they do not follow. Front of cabinets were not cleaned, floors were just haphazardly wiped with a mop, not scrubbed, front of fridge was damaged. When I brought the damage to the owners attention the very next day after the cleaning, he told me it was "too late." My initial concerns were prompted within the 24 hours in the contract, but because I found more damage at 29 hours, he wants to play games. Refused to provide me the insurance information and stopped responding all together. They breached the contract and do not honor the quality guarantee they boast. Women walked around my house for at least an hour doing nothing, one was sitting in her car for over 40 minutes (I have camera footage of both) I tried to approach the owner kindly and respectfully, but he wants to hide behind his email. Kevin and his team do such amazing work. I have been getting biweekly cleaning for several years and they always leave my house looking good and smelling fresh. (Not sure whey this is showing up as Beltsville, MD - should be Salisbury CT) Initially, I was pleased with NW Cleaning. I liked that they ran the company like a professional business, bonded and insured their employees, took out social security for them and brought their own products with them to each appointment. I agreed to an initial cleaning and was fairly pleased even though they missed some spots and didn't clean any of the soap dishes. We agreed to a future appointment which they confirmed in advance but on the day of the appointment they cancelled. No reason given. It was at the height of the Omicron variant - I assumed someone was sick and if that was why, I actually was glad that it was cancelled. They offered some future dates which weren't good for us so we agreed to one further out. I pointed out that, according to the contract, the next cleaning should be half price. Kevin wouldn't honor that because he offered optional dates but he did agree to a $25 reduction. As the next appointment was approaching, the Omicron variant was in full force so I asked, in an email, if their employees were vaccinated and boostered. Kevin called me back to say that one cleaner was, though not sure if she got the booster and the other one wasn't vaccinated at all. When I asked if he required his employees to be vaccinated he said "No; and I'm not vaccinated". When I expressed concern, he told me it "was a matter of personal choice". I replied that it was the prudent thing to do when your cleaners are in multiple peoples homes where they could be infected, then bring it to our home, where we are both in our 70's, even though we're vaxed/boostered. I said I wanted to cancel the appointment unless he could find another cleaner who was vaxed. He became very defensive and said I think it would be best if we canceled all your future appointments as well!! I agreed without any retort because if he doesn't respect his clients enough to ensure their physical health, I didnt' want to continue business with him. This summer I had a contractor and crew working mostly outside of our house. When I asked him about his employees, he said he personally took them all to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd appointments to ensure that everyone was fully vaccinated. I would have assumed the same to be true for people who are coming INSIDE your home where it is can be more infectious. So, if you aren't concerned about coronavirus coming into your home, go ahead and use them but if vaccinations are a requirement for you, please know that that is not a requirement for them. read more

What a nightmare. Never having used a cleaning service before, I was excited to get a deep cleaning service for a graduation gift. As a working mom who just had been busy with school, the house cleaning had taken a back seat. I booked a full house deep clean, and at most I got a surface cleaning if that. There were dust bunnies, marks on walls, things in the contract that were not completed. When speaking to the owner, Kevin, he seemingly wanted to brush things under the rug so to speak instead of appearing like he truly cared about the errors. Tried to make it right, but went back and forth about what he would do to rectify the situation. I will never use their services again, and would advise you not to as well. I was shopping around for a cleaning service for one of my clients and spoke with Kevin at Northwest Cleaning. He asked about the size of the house etc. and gave me a quote of $130. I presented this quote to my client and he agreed. I made an appointment for the cleaning and Kevin emailed me a service contract, which I forwared to my client. At the very bottom of the several pages was the price - $274!!!!! My client was livid. When I called Kevin he denied that he had quoted that price, became very defensive, and basically said have a nice day and hung up on me! I would NEVER use this service, nor would I ever recommend it to my clients! read more

I wanted help with a 1200 sq foot home (not including the basement which would make it about 1400 sq). It normally takes me alone one and a half hours to clean my home. So I capped them at 2 hours thinking that "wow my house is going to be so clean!!". I was thoroughly disappointed with how little was accomplished: 1) Two women came to the home. They both spent the first hour in the kitchen and the half bath- at the end of this hour: -the microwave was not cleaned from the outside or inside, -the coffee machine had coffee stains on it, -the floors were not swept, mopped or vacuumed, -kitchen table had stains and crumbs, -the lights over the dining table not dusted. -The rug was not vacuumed. I am not sure what 2 cleaners did in one hour. 2) In the second hour, they each cleaned one full bathroom. One of the bathroom's floor was not touched in the one hour. 3) The handle of the toilet in the half bath was broken right off. It was a loose handle to begin with which was fine, but in this instance- it was broken and NOT fixable with a screw. The company did not even apologize and spewed some clause at me. Overall, I was surprised at how little was accomplished by two cleaners at the end of 2 hours. Also, I was disappointed that some reimbursement for the broken handle was not given. read more

I have tried several cleaning companies/people for my apartment in New Haven, and this was by far the worst and most expensive. I contacted them because I wanted more than a typical cleaning since our building had mice. Kevin understood that I wanted a very thorough cleaning and first suggested 4 hours for my 1 bedroom apt, but I said that $244 was a lot more than I wanted to pay, so we settled on 2 hours for $130 for 2 people cleaning. Normally it takes cleaning people 1-1 1/2 hours to clean my apartment, so I was expecting a very thorough cleaning. However, I ended up paying a lot more and getting the worst cleaning I've ever experienced. First, when we planned which day he would come, he emailed me a service agreement contract to sign. Here he listed the things that he would complete in detail and how much I would pay. It also mentions if there are any problems with the cleaning: "If the problem involves the quality of service we have provided, we pledge to correct the problem at no charge and additionally provide one half hour of cleaning services at no extra charge to compensate for your inconvenience." Apparently this is not true though. We had planned for the cleaning to begin at noon, but a few minutes before noon, he let me know that they were running almost a couple hours late. Then they called saying that they couldn't find parking. There is metered parking on my block, but apparently they did not want to pay for that. I tried to be helpful and suggest places where they could park for free on the street, but they spent 20 min driving around without finding anything. I asked the parking lot attendant next to my building for a favor to let them park there for 2 hours, so he agreed. They are supposed to be professional, so why is it my responsibility to take care of parking? I work 5 minutes from my apartment and said they could call me a few minutes before they were done, or we could set up a time to meet. They told me to return at 3:45; I did and did not find them there but found one of their tools. Since the apartment was not even close to being clean, I was sure they would return. However, they had left early without informing me. I received an email a few minutes later letting me know that they left early but that the only thing they omitted was vacuuming. They also wrote that my dog was smart and escaped; why would they ever think it's a smart idea to clean with the door wide open? I'm lucky one of the neighbors downstairs caught him before he made it outside. They had to return to pick up the tool they forgot. I was really shocked that they thought they could leave while barely doing any work, and they expected to be paid in full. The staircase and rugs/carpets were not touched, some tables were left with dust, there were cobwebs in corners near the floor, surfaces in the kitchen were left sticky, the floors as well as some dishes were not cleaned well, the trash was not taken out, and these are basic things that were written out in the service agreement. They told me that they could not finish the cleaning; they were still very concerned about the parking situation even though it was not an issue if they would park at a meter. They also said that the reason why they did not do much is that there was "clutter" that they had to spend time moving around. No other cleaning person has ever said anything like this to me. They told me that they would deduct the amount on the bill since they left early and would send me the invoice. Their idea of a discount for what they did not complete was to take $10 off the expensive bill. Kevin was unpleasant and unprofessional to deal with when I discussed my disappointment with the services with him. Anyone would have done a better job; I think even if I would pick up a random person off the street, he would do a better job cleaning my apartment. Kevin and his team are fantastic. They are prompt, very friendly (to the pets as well as the people) and most importantly, are extremely thorough. The bathrooms and floors are always sparkling after they leave and the carpets are pet hair-free and carefully vacuumed. Conveniently, Kevin is very responsive on email, eliminating the need for annoying phone tag. In addition, the online payment system means I don't have to remember to leave a check. It's quite unfortunate. I had been working with Northwest cleaning for about half of a year. Today there was a mishap on timing - multiple points of confusion on when a crew would arrive. The formal confirmation note said 1-3pm and then Kevin (owner) said 12 to 2:30 in a side email. He knew I had some timing constraints. They are an expensive bunch, but found the work to be OK in a pinch. Anyway, I was asked to pay the cancellation fee even though the crew couldn't arrive "for certain" to complete a job and exit my home before company arrived after calling for a status update on their arrival. Sadly, I pay on time and given very good tips to the crew each time. It seems some others have had similar issues. It's good that Yelp is a forum to share. I hired this company to do a thorough fall cleaning in my home but ended up being extremely dissatisfied to say the least. Even though I was the first appointment of the day, they showed up 45 minutes late and didn't bother to call and offered no apology. I have an extremely busy schedule so keeping things on time is vital (apparently my time is not nearly as valuable to them as it is to me). The two cleaning "professionals" who showed up to do a thorough fall cleaning in my home were friendly, but did not present themselves in a professional manner at all. Before they could begin cleaning (which they were already behind schedule on), they both had to take a cigarette break outside my house. It was a nice day out so I had all the windows open - which their cigarette smoke then proceeded to drift thru. We are a non-smoking family and have kids with asthma and allergies - so we do not allow smoking in our home/on our property. Most folks are polite enough to ask if you "mind" before they light up - these "professionals" didn't even bother. Again, very unprofessional to say the least. For the premium price this cleaning company charged, I had far greater expectations. When initially arranging cleaning services with the owner of the company, I had told him that I needed natural (not harsh chemical) based cleaners - due to allergies with myself and children and for the safety of our pets. I also asked him to clean my wood floors with a particular kind of cleaner - which he agreed to do. However, when his cleaning staff showed up at my house, they did not come with any of the correct cleaners. Rather, they brought all the things I did NOT want used in my house. When I mentioned it to them, they just laughed and said it was their boss' fault and that what they had with them was all they were given to use for that day's jobs. I ended up raiding my cleaning supply cabinet and giving them some of my products to use. Again, not the end of the world - but for the premium price this company charges (much more expensive than any other service I've used over the years) - one shouldn't have to supply them with cleaning supplies as well. The owner of the company initially estimated that based on what I wanted done, it would take his staff 3.5 - 5 hours to complete the service. They only ended up staying for just shy of 3 hours (you could tell they were anxious to pack up and call it a day) and the cleaning job they did was nothing short of small hit and big miss. A few things they did thoroughly, but the majority of things were either done poorly, half done or not done at all. I had left a detailed list for them noting all the things I wanted done and also spoke with them before they started cleaning to ensure we were all on the same page. Apparently, that was all a waste of time on my part. For example, they cleaned some of the baseboards - but not all of them. They cleaned the front of my stand-alone bathroom vanity cabinet - but left the sides dusty and untouched. They cleaned the sink - but not the faucet. All of the mirrors/glass in the house had terrible (highly noticeable) streak marks all over them - it was as if they cleaned them with dirty water and a dirty rag. When I clean them, I simply use paper towels and glass cleaner - nothing fancy - and they come out sparkling. Not sure how they managed to do such a poor job on something as simple as cleaning glass. They missed dusting all the furniture in our master bedroom - despite my telling them that I wanted a full, thorough cleaning done in that room. They vacuumed under some pieces of furniture in the house - others, they didn't even bother. In the end, I ended up spending just as much time re-doing the things they had done a lousy job on - and completely doing the things they just skipped over.......I could have saved myself a lot of money, aggravation and stress and just cleaned the house myself. When I expressed my disappointment and annoyance to the owner of the company via e-mail, he was apologetic and offered to come the next day (which was a Monday) to see the things I was not happy with. He wanted to come mid-morning, however I told him that was not convenient as I work full time and wasn't going to miss half a day of work to meet with him at my home. I felt I had been inconvenienced enough already. I never heard another thing from him again. He made no effort to contact me again to reschedule another time or day. It's been over two weeks and I also have yet to receive a receipt from him showing the subsequent cash payment I made the day of the service. His staff told me he would e-mail me a receipt for the cash payment I gave them - not so apparently. I will certainly not re-hire this cleaning service and would not recommend them to anyone else based on my very negative experience. What a waste of money and time! read more

I just wanted some extra clean up in my rental house before I moved in and these guys did a great job!
