I live in Chicago, however I refuse to have any framing done in Chicago. I hold out for Charley at Northside. Charley is a *cool* guy, very patient, easy to work with and he does amazing work. Before making suggestions for framing, he will ask questions to help understand your style and personality. Charley will offer ideas for your framing that are unique and atypical - he has come up with things I would have never thought of! I took photos/artwork purchased on Etsy.com and/or art fairs to Charley that are worth no more than $10-25. After Charley's touch, the artwork looks *expensive.* I've even got him framing a few greeting cards that I've had laying around for years and years - these cards hold special meaning to me. If you need framing, do not go to Michaels or JoAnn Fabrics or any corporate retail outlet for that matter, VISIT Charley. Had such a lovely experience getting things framed, sadly due to covid it might be a bit before I get my art back - thanks metal imports haha. But regardless, 10/10 will be back to get everything framed. Not only were the prices amazing (probably not the cheapest but you pay for quality) but the conversation was great and the vibe was phenomenal. I had a special gift that I wanted to get matted but couldn't find any appropriate mats at the stores in town. The artist told me that he uses Northside Galleries for all of his framing and to give Charley a call. I'm so glad I did! Charley and Brian are so kind, so easy-going, so ready and willing to go above and beyond! Charley offered to meet me outside of hours if it fit my schedule better. I was able to make it in during regular hours and he and Brian got right to work when I came in. I was in and out in 20 minutes and they did so much more for my picture than just selecting the perfect color and cutting a perfect mat! Now I need to find something to frame! I agree with the previous reviewer. This shop offers a very friendly, service-oriented framing business. Charley is very easy to work with, and the prices are reasonable. They have a nice selection of frames to work with. They also have a variety of modern artwork for sale as well. Highly recommend this place if you are looking for a local framing shop with good customer service and prices. The shop is located in a house on State; parking is a little narrow with a few spots lined up against the house. read more

I have to say it speaks volumes that the owner would send such a polite message to me apologizing about my experience with his business. I know business is difficult and there are often things that are outside of the owners control that happen. That being said you are in good hands here and if something negative happens I am sure the owner will do everything he can to make it right. read more

As both an artist and a collector of art I find that Charley S. , although a very busy gallery owner, always provides framing services with panache , artistry, and patient attention to detail. I have had dealings with other galleries/framers that didn't have the ' eye' for framing that would actually enhance an already gorgeous painting-but Northside Galleries delivers. read more
