Offshore of Lake Bluff has a solid selection of boats, and even in the off-season ( this visit is in January) there's decent variety in stock. Sam took me through the store and answered a ton of questions I had without pressure - selling. He's been boating since he was a tot and it's pretty clear that he loves his job as his eyes twinkled while he explained the ins and outs of different models of boats and gear. I was pleased to hear that while they have some boats in stock, they can usually order another if the one I want sells, since I should probably (I mean really) consider my income and savings situation before making a purchase. I will definitely be back when I know what I can afford. I am excited about getting out there in a boat I own instead of a rental. And I'll be proud to make a purchase here. It's always nice to support local businesses, especially if they provide excellent service, like they do here.

The beverage manager assured me that they do offer a selection of crafted mocktails - so I was expecting a menu or at least the bartender having some knowledge. I asked and the bartender just pointed out the juices that they have. Now a lot of local establishments have created mocktails that have unique mixes to them that I don't know. So when he was pointing to the different juices I didn't even know what to ask for. He only suggested a Shirley Temple. So all in all, I was stuck drinking a Sprite and didn't feel to fit in. I didn't have much fun.

We met with Captain Tony at 4:30 AM and he quickly got us onboard and headed into the lake. Within 30 minutes we had lines in the water and fishing began. The fishing ran hot and cool (they call it fishing after all, not catching), but it was a completely enjoyable trip as Captain Tony made every effort to find fish for us to catch. In the end we caught 15 fish in total, including Kings (one a 20 pounder), Coho, Rainbow and Lakers. These catches produced over 50 lbs of cleaned fillets for us to take home and share. As an added bonus, Tony's wife Diane answers the phone and makes the reservations for your charter. There was no calling a charter outfit, leaving messages and waiting days for a return call. She answered my first call to Diamond Ghost and was a delight to deal with. She explained the procedure, answered all of my questions and then sent me maps and other useful information to make our trip better. Diamond Ghost gets an OUTSTANDING 5 Star Rating from us. We will be back

North Point Marina has plenty of places for putting a boat, but it's more than that. Also there's entertainment. There's things like banquets and live music.
