I had all sorts of deep scans of my eyes with different widgets. But, what's really neat is that this exam was completely televisit. Dr. To was able to control the eye tester and other instruments remotely. I've had done televisits before involving just talking through, but I wasn't expecting this, I had the Doctor on a screen next to me helping me through the exam. Doctor was super friendly and had calm bedside manner. I never know how to pick glasses, but after my exam, Jenica and Joe helped me from the huge selection of options. This business charges over $115 for "fitting fee" which is just a legal scam some vision places are…read moregoing about by charging you this amount for a pair of contacts that cost a few dollars. They also do not add certain screenings and expenses to the bill provided to the insurance instead wanting you to pay the full amount up-front out of pocket. To put this in perspective, I am double covered for vision insurance, and my cost for an exam and 6 months of contacts was $170.00. That is much higher than anywhere (or anytime) that I have had my vision checked. Then to boot, in order to find out how my charges were so high, it took over three weeks of phone calls and emails to finally get a response from the billing department. I will pay the bill, and never give this company my business again.

This location in Juneau, Alaska is supposedly "the world's smallest Costco," and I have no reason to doubt that claim. This is a compact yet fully stocked warehouse that's a blast to browse! The parking lot is small, and the store is located off the main drag. there's a spectacular towering mountain as a backdrop. This Costco is tiny but has everything you may need. Note that prices, especially on produce, are a lot higher than you'd expect back home. For example, we regularly buy the huge bags of fresh oranges in Las Vegas for $8 a bag. Here, they cost $11. But it's a landlocked Alaskan town, so that's to be expected. I got a kick out of the Alaska-specific items on offer, like value packs of bear spray and clam guns. They sell a lot of gear that's useful for campers and people going fishing, too. There are even crab traps for sale! This location has a very tiny snack bar that's extremely popular with the locals. And yes, their famous hot dog still costs $1.50 here. Note that this location does NOT have a fuel center. They DO utilize the new scanner machines at the door, so you can easily use the electronic version of your membership card on your phone for easy and quick access (in case you forgot to bring your physical, plastic membership card).
