The staff is very welcoming and loves to answer any questions you have. It is located in a busy parking lot because there are several other businesses around but it is easily accessible. When you arrive the door is normally open, if you are just joining, you go to the front desk and ask for Crystal. She will sign you in, grab a uniform for your child, and collect your payment. Your child can change in the bathrooms in the back and join their class when it starts. We arrived late, but once my niece joined the class, she received a warm welcome by both instructors. Immediately one of the instructors gave her the individual attention needed in order for her to catch up. One of the reasons I chose this location is because they ask parents to grade the students on their behavior at home and based on what they get at home, they are allowed to try for a belt. It definitely helps with listening at home. Once leaving the class, each student has to bow and say bye as they exit. We love our new karate home.

We found this place almost 4 years ago, after coming out of a kumon center across the street…read more Outside was hung with grand opening banners, so we decided to stop in and check it out. The Master (surprisingly) was young, but after one trial class, my 7 year old daughter was hooked. She loved how Master Andrew made classes fun, entertaining, and filled with laughter, but also included times for serious learning accordingly. He understands if the kids are having a difficult time with certain forms, but continues to encourage them which helps give them that push to continue, rather than to quit. This dojo is also run by the most family-oriented family, whom (from what I've seen) all remembers each students and their families names. They are constantly sanitizing and keeping the place clean. Yes, even before covid hit. 4 years later, my daughter who started out as a no belt, holds a second degree black belt. Thank you to Master Andrew and Master Yang for having superb positive teaching values for the children.

We've been going to JS TKD for several months now, and I've been waiting to write a review…read more Master Andrew is provides a perfect balance of kindness and structure for the kids to learn the principles of TKD. My son struggles with paying attention in school, but here he loves "focusing" and learning new techniques. It's the right balance of challenge and accomplishment. The facility is nice enough, there is enough room for all the kids to spread out. Class sizes are around 12-15, which is perfect. Belt progression is not guaranteed, and belt testing is serious. Master Andrew trains his students to be competitive and many do participate in state and national competitions, but we're only white belt, so a ways to go still. If you're looking for a family-friendly, flexible, fun and competitive environment, this is the place.

Authentic Korean Martial Arts taught by Kukiwon-certified Masters…read more We tried several places in Stafford/Fredericksburg, but were turned off by their teaching methods--many of them were just black-belt factories and gave belts to anyone with $45. We wanted a real program and one that was certified by the governing Korean TKD body (Kukiwon). This is the best TKD and Hapkido schools in the area--both of my sons attend here and love Master Lee and his instructors--they make it fun but do not cut corners...it is tough, but real.

Meaning, I had come across numerous TKD schools, watched instructions of lots of different masters, and experienced different atmosphere of each school and students. And, of course, I've called and visited several TKD schools around Quantico after we moved to the area, and I am absolutely thrilled to have found Master Im for my son!! I did find a few TKD schools offering a little less tuition but required 2 or 3 years of contract. However, Master Im was MOST FLEXIBLE with tuition payment plan out of all the schools I've contacted, and I am definitely confident that Master Im's TKD PHILOSOPHY and SKILLS are superbly high and strong that it surely justifies his tuition rate without a doubt (If you are ONLY concerned about cheap tuition, this may not be a good school for you). His instructions are HIGHLY DISCIPLINED, MOTIVATING, STRICT, and very ORTHODOX (I say "orthodox" because I trained in Korea when I was young, and I know how it's done in Korea), yet humorous and accommodating enough for students to be fully engaged with TKD and have great fun at the same time. If you are looking for a TKD school, I highly suggest that you visit each school's "Black Belt Class" even if you (or your kids) are not yet a black belt and watch what the school has to offer to their best students in action. And I'm sure many will agree that Master Im and his students are among the best in the area.

I have really enjoyed taking a completely different perspective on my martial arts training, learning to deal with an attacker who is large and close simply by leveraging my own body structure. Ben and his senior students are extremely encouraging and supportive, so the classes have a real community atmosphere. I wholeheartedly recommend you take a class, whether you are a lifelong martial artist or absolute beginner.

I've never really understood or believed in the application of internal power for practical use but, after one session of chi sao with Ben (and being thrown into a wall a few times), I had to concede that there was something real there. One thing I've always appreciated is that Ben is very clear where Wing Chun does and doesn't work. He teaches boxing, wrestling, and some MMA, but always in the context of where Wing Chun fits in. Full disclosure, this is not for everyone; it's not a quick fix, it's not a cardio workout, and it's not showy. This is a long process of understanding internal structure, physics, and how to exert your body in a different way than you're used to. If you're interested in gaining a new understanding of your own body and how to weaponise your posture (yes, posture can be a weapon), give it a try. Or, if you think this isn't real and doesn't work, come and try it anyway. The only way to know is try it out and we're always ready to welcome people with an open or curious appetite.
