"Welcome to Northalsted, the City of Chicago's first WiFi neighborhood."
It's free WIFI if you live in this neighborhood, which I do. I found it today when the WIFI network showed up on my laptop.
The web page where you accept service and sign onto the network says:
Northalsted's free WiFi system is made possible by the Northalsted Business Alliance, Northalsted Special Service Area #18, and the City of Chicago.
Really cool! (but after day of using it I have found Google Chrome works way better on this network than Firefox. I have no idea why that is or why it would be, but from Firefox I am having tons of trouble sending email when on the network; from Google Chrome - no problem.) read more
