The staff, especially Deborah, Hailey, and Deagan, were so friendly and welcoming. They made sure we felt completely comfortable before heading out on the water. We brought our dog along and he absolutely loved being on the boat! The 8-person pontoon we rented was easy to handle and ran perfectly. While it did have normal signs of wear and age, it was still very comfortable and reliable, which is really what matters. The marina has plenty of parking, and their general store is fully stocked with snacks, drinks, ice, sunblock, and more, which came in handy. We also really appreciated that there were no hidden fees. Everything was exactly as listed on their website, and they even pump the gas in front of you when you return so you can see exactly what you used. If you're looking for a hassle-free way to explore the lake, this is it. Bring a Bluetooth speaker to make the day even more fun. We recommend calling ahead to reserve, since they book up fast. May, 2024. We stayed one night at this campground mid-week in our Class B RV after having made…read morereservations on Recreation.gov. Finding the campground (Rating: 1/5). We had had a LONG driving day, it was getting dark, and we were not familiar with the Lake Isabella area. We passed several National Sequoia Forest campgrounds on the lake that had vacancies but Tillie Creek was still further along -- and required navigating a curvy road where the speed limit and driving by locals was too fast for conditions. When our GPS reported that we had reached, we didn't see any signage that a campground was there so we mistakenly missed it. However, we then noticed picnic tables and fire rings that were suggestive of the campground so we turned back and found the campground. Finding a site. (Rating: 4/5). Being mid-week, almost ALL of the sites were available but most had tags that they were reserved for the weekend. We selected a fairly level site -- and were soon joined by the camp host who checked us in and gave us our car tag. He also warned us to be careful because there were rattlesnakes in the area. We only saw a bunny! It turned out that only the camp host, another rv, and us were the only ones on-site for the night. It also turned out that our selected site (#18) wasn't ideal because there was early morning traffic noise. This campground does not offer showers, but it does have restrooms and water spigots. Also note that one section of the campground isn't being maintained -- beyond where Tillie Creek had flooded. Also, to our knowledge, the lake is not easily accessible from the campground.

We chose a site in a grove of trees and it's been amazing have shade throughout the entire day. The campground isn't perfect, we were lost when we first came in, went up the road to some mobile homes and then finally when we reached the campground it looked slightly abandoned. The booth where you check in was abandoned, in disrepair and full of cobwebs, a playground was full of empty frames of where swings and stuff should be, and like I mentioned before looked empty. We eventually found the camp host who was very pleasant and helpful though and were given the choice to pick any site we wanted. About an hour from Sequoia's trail of 100 giants and a few minutes from the French Gulge Marina where we rented some kayaks. Only real downside was there were a lot of wasps at our campsite when we tried to prepare food and no showers on site either. Toilets are basically outhouses but were kept clean. All in all had a good weekend away here.

The staff walked us through the process on how to use the boats and instructions on basic etiquete on the lake. The email says to only send one person down to get the tutorial and sign paperwork and once you get there you know why lol it's hard to get there and there are a good amount of people renting boats. There are steep steps to get down to the boat docks, no hand rails, and when you're carrying a cooler, small gas grill and fishing gear it gets very tiring. If you're renting a boat for the first time, prepare yourself, watch some videos, be courteous, be mindful of your trash, and bring lots of sunscreen.

It was refreshing and made me feel energized like I could conquer the world. The scenery is nice but a bit dry. The customer service at the shop is good and friendly. They have lots of staff. I got some swim shorts, sodas, and food like cheeseburger etc. They had trash bags to give out. The marina is fun to explore if you like obscure lakes in California. Boat was half day 4 hours $230 fit like 14 people. Super fun experience in the summer.

I've been "glamping" before when I was younger - my family used to rent a cabin and we would then…read moreexplore the mountains. However, I had never camped in a tent prior to this. However, Horse Creek was a good introduction to the camping world. At $20 a night, you get your own campsite that can fit up to 8-10 people. We were able to fit about 4 tents. The ground was flat enough to set up camp, and the grounds to eat and chill were spacious enough. As for the bathrooms, the showers are fairly clean and the toilets aren't too shabby either. It seemed like they were cleaned on a daily basis. As for entertainment, the campsite is right near the lake so every morning I woke up to the beautiful sight of nature - the sunset was pretty as well. The lake wasn't too dirty, although I would recommend water shoes. Also, the main office has friendly staff to answer any questions. Ultimately, if you want a campground that's at the bottom of the mountain (it's only 10-12 miles away from the entrance of the Sequoia National Park) that's clean and family-friendly, this place is extremely solid. I highly recommend it.

The sites are RIGHT on the shore of the lake. In fact, the site we reserved was UNDER WATER when we arrived in early May. They're not joking when they say the whole campground is closed in the summer months due to flooding. Thankfully they only allow half the sites to be reserved and they moved us to an open spot, right at the front. It also gave us an easy spot to fish from the shore in the mornings and evenings. I'm glad we chose this campground when finding a weekend getaway. I heard it gets crowded inside the main campgrounds in Sequoia Park. Sites are well spaced out. Each spot had either a canopy or a tree for shade. Of course theres a fire pit too. The bathrooms were sufficient. 1 shower inside, with hot water. The local general store is within a 5 minute drive to get firewood and supplies and Kaweah Marina is close by too to rent a patio boat to enjoy the day on the lake. They will close the gate entrance at 9pm sharp. But you can park in the dirt lot or next to the gate over night. The exit is open all night, but its got those 1 way spike strips... exit only.

One of the many campgrounds surrounding Lake Isabella, it's pretty decent…read more -The sites are properly maintained and include a firepit/grill combo, a cement picknic table, and a communal water faucet for every cluster of campsites. -Only a handful of sites offers decent shade-trees. The rest have minimal or no shade. Check weather conditions as the entire area is subject to constant temperature extremes as well as rediculous winds that will take down even the sturdiest tents. -There are bathrooms within a 5 minute walk of every campsite. Inside the bathrooms are stalls with flush toilets, tp, and doors; sinks (no soap, no mirror), and a free shower with a door, hanging pegs, shelf, and bench). These facilities are not that clean or maintained, so bring something to avoid having to hang your clothes/towels on dirty hooks and wear shower shoes. -Bugs: a million bees that swarm the flowering vegetation in the spring and clover mites in the spring that infested our entire tent inside and out. Truly and disgustingly infested. No joke. Infested. Google them. -There are some handicapped sites available.as well as sites that will accomidate 2 cars or a truck towing a trailer. -Reservations available.
