We have been through some scary times with our treatment and I am grateful for Dr Marina who really seems to know what he is doing and for Dr Russell who has the best bedside manner of any doctor ever. The issue is the complete chaos that the offices are running in. It seems organized, but after many visits I can attest that it is not. We have had our orders misplaced numerous times and I have to remind the staff we are still waiting. if you have to call the doctor or to speak to a nurse, I wish you luck. I have attempted phone calls so many times and it is a full time job to first - get someone to answer. They don't. 2nd, if you leave a message about 50% of the time the messages will be delivered to a department in a completely different building/department/medical area or administration! I've been called back by digestive disease, maintenance, different doctor offices that aren't even in the cancer area..just to name a few. What is really bad about that is they tell you they will return your call in 24 hours- so if someone calls you back after waiting a day- you start the clock all over when you try again. There have been times that I have played the phone game for whole weeks. It is very frustrating and when you are dealing with such a serious diagnosis, that experience doesn't help. I feel like they are sorely understaffed. And I hope it isn't because they are trying to keep to a budget because after looking at the amount of money my insurance is paying for our treatment, I know they can afford a few more people to help!! I want to share this experience because there is an option in Tallahassee and I am wondering what our treatment days would be like if we had chose the other provider. I do want to give a shout out to the infusion center side. They must see hundreds of patients a day and do seem like a well oiled machine. However, they have had bad days too. Our meds always have to be prepared after we are in the seat and they have cleared us for treatment which means we have to wait for the pharmacy to make it. Some days this takes 30 minutes. That's how long it should take. So when we have to wait for two hours I know something is wrong and have to start asking. My advice, don't be afraid to ask if they now you're still waiting. They are busy and may not realize it. If you find yourself in the situation where you are looking at options for treatment, my best wishes to you and your family!!

The Villas at Killearn Lakes is such a unique and wonderful…read more facility. The atmosphere is that of a family in a home setting. Each Villa is well designed and so easy to navigate for the elders - no stairs or elevators - and when the come out of their rooms, there is a living and dining area easily accessible. This is so valuable for elders with dementia. This thing that makes it most special is the love, care and attention the elders receive from the owner, Pete, the director, Bobbie, and all the other staff members. My uncle was well-loved and cared for 3 1/2 years.

Mrs. Christie says it's your approach with the residents that is key. That is evident as their approach is positive, pleasant and done with patience. Being a caregiver, leader or nurse requires you to establish a rapport and level of care with your residents, and Mrs. Christie and her morning shift has done just that. Here's what it's like when you live here for a day, a month, or a year. You'll share the house with up to 8-10 other families, one per room, depending on how many families are in need at the time. You'll find company when you want it and you'll be left alone when you want it. The kitchen will have stoves and microwaves and sinks and dishwashers, and you'll find a refrigerator full of food. You're welcome to help yourself; you have other things to worry about today. Local churches and charities have stocked it with labeled and dated casseroles, baked goods, etc. You'll start the day with doing the chore assigned to the room you're staying in. It won't take too long, and as long as you get it done by noon it's all good. After all, there's no maid here and you're only paying $10 a night. If that's too much for your family to afford, you can pick an extra chore and do that instead of paying anything. When you want a drink, you can pick from Keurig single-serve coffee and tea pods for free, and if you prefer a Coke product, the vending machine will only charge you a quarter. But you'll need to keep that in the kitchen, please, to keep the house clean. I must say this......after being smart enough to choose the lady I did to marry, coming here is EASILY the second best relationship decision I've made! Dr Laura Clevenger is PHENOMENAL!!! And I can't stress that enough. She's intelligent, cool, easy to talk to, a great listener and gives exceptional advice. She's not pushy or controlling, demanding that we do things her way or no way. She gives us the opportunity to make suggestions and has helped with altering our ideas to make them better. The result is a union that's stronger than it's ever been! We told her that if she keeps this up, we're inviting her to the wedding......and we meant it!
