After making an online booking for an in-home euthanasia I called to ensure that this was actually going to be our blessing. Not only did they were reassure me that they would come but I received a phone call and a text message that someone was on their way. This was over and above what was shared. Dr. Elhe was compassionate and took the time to know our story and what an EPIC dog she was helping put at peace. She even sent a card sharing her sentiments. It was just a few days later that we received notification that Remus's ashes would be coming soon. We could not be more grateful!!!

They got us right into a room that was clean and had plenty of treats for Georgie, and the techs who did his intake were super sweet and patient with my scaredy little boy. We had a little bit of a wait but the receptionist kept us in the loop, and it was well worth it. Dr. Page was thorough, personable, and prioritized evidence-based medicine. He did a thorough and comprehensive evaluation and explained his rationale for his treatment recommendations, which I greatly appreciated. I didn't feel like he was pushing me to do anything that wasn't in the best interest of my cat - especially where most vets would reflexively order labs and tests. I will never go back to this clinic, after being a very dedicated client and pet owner, I found out…read morethat all they care about is money. My 6 year old almost died from having a dental procedure done there and ended up getting horrible aspiration pneumonia and when I picked him up, he didn't recognize me and had green stuff coming out of his nose. When I dropped him off in the morning, he was totally fine and when I picked him up, he was extremely sick. The doctor had the nerve to ask me if my dog was like this before he came in for surgery, and I couldn't believe that after everything that I do for my dogs ( which they were well aware of how I take care of my boys), that the doctor thought I would put my dog thru surgery if he was sick! Within 24 hours of his surgery, he was almost dead and septic and spent 2 weeks fighting for his life at WVRC. We ended up spending over $40,000 to save my dogs life because they screwed up somewhere when he was in their care. And to make things even better, my parents dog was misdiagnosed by them and was dead 2 days later because they didn't know what was wrong with her. I will NEVER step foot in this clinic again or will I ever refer them to anyone. I'm so glad I found a wonderful new vet clinic to take care of my boys who doesn't care about the money!

This review is my opinion of my experience, and my best recollection of the events. I would not…read morerecommend this veterinary clinic to anyone after my recent experience with this team. Because this will be a long review and some might not want to read it all, the short and sweet: IN MY OPINION, they: #1 - Charge excessive costs for procedures. #2 - Have very poor communication and emotional intelligence to understand the experience of the pet and family #3 - Provide unnecessary testing and pressure to make the most amount of money they can off of the concerned owner. #4 - Treatment for a misdiagnosis and lack of empathy for the out of pocket money that it cost my family. #5 - Extremely rude and unsympathetic to my personal situation once I declined their proposed treatment plan. BOTTOM LINE: Symptom - 9 year old dog suddenly starts peeing in the house. Treatment plan at Cudahy vet clinic: Visit #1 - 300.00+ for first visit and Arthritis meds and rabies vaccination. Visit #2 - 700.00+ for 2nd sitting visit, Urine, Blood, Heartworm test etc. Police called on me less than 30 min after declining and leaving the office in frustration and not paying my second sitting bill. Treatment at another neighborhood clinic Visit #1 - 259.00 First visit, Blood and urine. Complicated diabetic diagnosis. A 3 out of 6 heart murmur. Out of respect for the good employees, impacted by my negative experience, I will start this off by stating there are some aspects which were exceptional. #1 - The receptionist was amazing. Kind to me as I was going through it. She might have been the only kind face I saw during this ordeal. I am thankful to her. As for Mr and Mrs Shampo - yikes. I brought my dog to this clinic, as we have for years. I will admit that I am not the kind of owner that constantly brings my dog to the vet. I come when there is something wrong. Just like I do for myself and the doctor. I do not go just to go. My dog had recently started having accidents in the house, after never having an accident in the house in the 9 years previous. We wanted blood and urine work, as I thought it was something related to his kidneys. Dr Shampo believed it to be arthritis, or at least he said that is his belief, and sent my wife home with a 300.00 + bill and some arthritis medication. Very interesting diagnosis for a dog peeing in the house, but he is the "expert". Fast forward a week and my dog is still peeing in the house. This time I decide to take the dog myself. I tell him that I know my dog better than him, respectfully, as I spend all my days with him. I tell him it isn't arthritis, as he pees all day every day on every scent he finds outside, and his leg isn't keeping him from peeing. I want blood and urine checked. They come to me with a list of items that they want to check on my dog, heartworm, blood, urine (withdrawn from his bladder via a procedure), etc. 700.00+ in total costs. Included in this bill is a second office visit charge. Its Christmas, I have kids, and quite honestly, it's a ton of money. My jaw drops, I ask why blood and urine wasn't tested the first time and his answer is that he was trying to spend the least amount of my money as possible. I was angry and in shock at the bill. I state that I feel like they are trying to sell me a car warranty and that I would go to a different vet, and I leave. My dog is going through it and I feel like he is dying, and the vet is trying to treat for arthritis and rule out heart worm? I walk out the door frustrated and call a different vet, in the same area of the city, who is able to not only see my dog, but also complete the blood work and urinalysis for 259.00. Within 30 minutes of leaving, they have the police calling me and insisting that I come back to pay my bill as they saw me and need to be compensated. They called the POLICE! I am stressed about my dog, left out of frustration, and they got called out trying to rip me off and didn't like it. I came back to the office and paid my bill. I then requested my dogs records and they make me pay an additional 30.00 PER DOG for the records. Needless to say we did not leave on friendly terms. I finally got my records 3-4 days after, which if you ask any other vet in the city, that is almost unheard of, and they do not charge you for the records. They will tell you that those records, they are costs built into the office visit charges. The other vet, in a matter of an hour, AFTER LISTENING TO ME AS THE OWNER, taking my dog outside and catching his urine manually, determined for 259.00 that the reason my dog is peeing in the house is he has complicated diabetes and needs insulin medication to be treated. I see many elderly people taking their dogs to this vet and it pains me that they probably do not have the technical skills to read online reviews and as a result will likely continue to be taken advantage of by this vet.

We are new patients of Dr. Butler and his staff…read more Our prior long-time and now ex-veterinarian in Greenfield seemed adequate enough. Until our 12-year-old canine love Zoey needed urgent medication for cancer surgery pain -- pain in the wake of tumor surgery performed by that vet. That vet and his telephone staff closed their door -- and that day's appointment schedule -- to a simple, albeit immediate, requested consult. But Dr. Butler immediately opened his door and his heart to our plight. Zoey got the prescription pain meds she needed as soon as we arrived at Parkland. Dr. Butler will very soon be facilitating our last good-bye to Zoey as our friend has days to live for the now rapidly advancing mast cell tumor. It's been just 5 weeks since her surgery at the hands of the other vet. As well, Dr. Butler will be our vet of record for the pointer puppy we have acquired. I feel his vet practice could be described as old style traditional. No whistles and bells here. But rather what I would call traditional veterinary care. And I like that. This veterinarian's focus seems away from the maxing of his bottom line -- in the realization that, with a compassionate approach to animal care and interaction with families, the bottom line will often take care of itself. Thank you Dr. Butler. We look forward to being in your care.

I have not taken my cats to this clinic because I receive coupons in the mail all the time, and I…read moream skeptical of any vet clinic that needs to send coupons instead of relying upon positive word-of-mouth from satisfied customers. I mean, seriously? Coupons for vet care along with Pizza Hut and Cousins Subs? Weird. Plus, one of the coupons they always send is a few bucks off a declaw surgery. And they use the word "gentle." ("Gentle, quality, experienced surgical care.") Now, I know Yelp isn't necessarily the place to discuss animal cruelty, but a vet clinic A). should NOT flat-out lie: there's no such thing as a a "gentle" amputation, and B) SHOULD encourage pet owners to treat their pets with dignity and kindness, not try to drum up business for unneeded surgeries by putting coupons in the mail.

After being a loyal client of Small Animal Hospital for over 25 years, it is with great…read moredisappointment that I can no longer recommend this clinic. Over the past year, the quality of care and service has declined rapidly, replaced by a general sense of chaos and disorganization. Operational Issues: * Chronic Tardiness: Appointments consistently run 20+ minutes late. * Disorganization: During our last visit, the staff didn't even know which room we were in. * Poor Communication: Phone wait times are excessive, and follow-up calls regarding lab results often arrive several days later than promised. Clinical Concerns regarding Dr. Neuses: My experience with Dr. Neuses has been particularly troubling. Despite being only a few years into her career, she carries an "all-knowing" attitude that leaves no room for client collaboration. * Diagnostic Overreach: She consistently pushes for expensive diagnostic tests for obscure/rare diseases while seemingly ignoring common clinical signs of infection. * Dismissive Attitude: She refuses to consider reasonable requests or discuss information from reputable veterinary research. * Risk to Patient Health: Most importantly, her refusal to pursue common-sense treatments based on clear lab findings is actively putting my cat's health at risk. If you are looking for a vet who values your history as a client, respects your input, or manages their schedule effectively, I suggest looking elsewhere. UPDATE: I've discovered why the quality and culture at Small Animal Hospital have shifted so drastically. After decades of local ownership, the clinic was sold (around 2021/2022) to National Veterinary Associates (NVA), a global corporate consolidator owned by a private equity-backed holding company. While the sign on Newhall Street hasn't changed, the management certainly has. In my experience, the focus has shifted from the personalized care we used to receive to a corporate model that prioritizes standardized 'production' over the individual needs of our pets. What we are seeing--the skeleton staffing, the long wait times, and the decline in attentive care--are the classic hallmarks of this business model. They cut labor costs to pad the bottom line while leveraging the trusted 'Small Animal Hospital' name to hike prices. It's no longer the neighborhood clinic local vets built; it's a corporate asset where efficiency is prioritized over our pets' well-being. If you've noticed the 'soul' of the clinic is gone, this is the reason why.
