Great value for the money. I have lived here a few years now and have enjoyed it. The area is…read morequiet, safe and located close to the mall, not to mention most of the major highways. There have been no crime(s) here that I am aware of since moving in. The management is quick to respond to reported issues and are always friendly. My neighbors have been quiet and people generally keep to themselves. No crazy drama going on outside either. The buildings are well maintained. They plow snow, cut the grass...etc etc...If you have a problem in the apartment, let them know and they will send someone out the next business day. (they have people available for emergencies of course..) It isn't the most fancy place you can find, but I think they are decent enough. They have pay laundry rooms in each building, a bit of room for storage in the basement areas. (Figure about another 20 dollars per month for this..) Heat / hot water is included in the price of rent, this is a good value. You pay for electric. (60-100 a month in my experience...) Traffic in and around the area isn't too bad, but you should learn some back roads during the Christmas time! Mall traffic is crazy on 202. Well worth checking out!

I've been living here for 5 years in a row now so I guess I'm qualified for some comments. I've…read morebeen to some of my friends' rental places in the area and none of them is both as good and affordable as Belmont Village. It's located in a quiet and beautiful neighborhood, and it feels rather safe as well. Maintenance is usually quick and easy - all I need to do is to write an email about the issue and couple of days later I come home to find the issue resolved. It's got secured building entrance, but package delivery is right to my door. Staffs are really nice although I don't really find the need to talk to them much. There are more than enough parking spots for both the tenants and guests. The lovely little pool could be an addition, if I loved water (and I don't). Another perk is free heating, not sure if that's standard in the area but there's big savings during Pennsylvania winters. As for downsides, there really isn't anything major to complain about, considering the price. Shared laundry, spotty wireless signal (I'm AT&T), monopoly of Xfinity internet, plain design and decoration, and that's about it. The storage might be a bit tight but for a guy it has been quite enough. So overall, it's totally worth the price. And they allow cats!

Thank goodness I only signed a three month lease. I just moved to the area and needed a place…read morefast. These guys were friendly enough at first but the application process is like a pagan blood ritual. After calling my company office to verify income, credit checks, and signing away all my rights on a 35-page page lease (legal sized to boot!) the mood got much darker. I got a high pressure pitch from the office manager to sign a longer term lease, and when I refused another unpleasant lady told me she is the one that would be tracking me down when I don't pay my rent. I could live with all of that, but since then the conversations I have had with the office people are unpleasant at best and with hints of apathy or hostility. I don't know why these people are always so grumpy but all I expect is a little civility and human courtesy. After that it took over a week to get my mail keys and TWO WEEKS to get a copy of my lease, without which I couldn't go to DMV to transfer my license. Shortly after I asked about rated to convert or extend my lease. That took a couple days since they have this magic computer that calculates all the variables to dymanically generate lease rates. Yeah sure, the eHarmony of leasing, I get it. Well, shocker, the rates went significantly up, and they can't simply convert my current lease to a 12-month, it has to be a new lease at the end. I called the office manager to see if they would honor the original lease rates I was quoted before and I was told she had no room to negotiate. So I said I would be moving out at the end of my three month lease, at which point her story changed and was told to wait a day while she looked into what she could do. Once again, half truths and a used-car sales experience! Plus, they only seem to do any improvements when they can use it to increase your lease price; I have some pretty raggy carpeting they won't replace, but the kicthen was reappointed and they charge me a premium for that. So I am done. I found a great little town house through a realtor down in Devon for less money! There are a few good things about living here I will mention in all fairness. First, parking (at least in June) is rather ample, I've had no problems in that regard. Second, the neighbors are generally pretty nice and relatively quiet. Third, it is in a generally quiet part of town but is minutes away from the mall and several grocery stores, and there is a little shopette next door with a salon, pizzeria, laundromat, and Asian Bistro that are pretty nice. With a little effort that list above could be much longer, but this property management company and its unpleasant employees have no interest in anything but extracting every last penny while eliminating any possible expense. I would advise anyone to consider all the other options and consult a realtor that also handles rentals.

Our concerns are not about being denied, we understand that every property has its own screening criteria, but about how the application process was handled. After submitting our application, we spent over two weeks repeatedly calling and emailing the leasing office for updates. We were told multiple times that no one knew why our application had been denied, leaving us in limbo while trying to secure housing. It was only after numerous follow-ups that we finally received an explanation. I want to recognize Christyna, who was polite, respectful, and professional throughout our interactions. She always treated us courteously, even during a frustrating situation. However, our experience with Marquetia was very different. When we raised concerns about the lack of communication, we received an email that was defensive and dismissive instead of addressing the issues we had experienced. Rather than acknowledging our concerns, the response included statements such as, "our office and its employees should not be held accountable for the poor planning on anyone else's behalf," claimed there was "a lack of communication amongst the applicants regarding personal finances," and ended with "I will not be addressing any further communications." We found those comments to be inappropriate and inconsistent with the level of professionalism we expected after simply raising concerns about our experience. Communication, transparency, and professionalism are essential during an apartment application process, especially when applicants are making time-sensitive housing decisions.

It takes months for Service requests to be granted, even though a resident might find them urgent like mice, rodents, etc.... . Often times they say that they have already completed your request for maintenance and they have not. The front office does not answer your calls. I will continue my lease until it is up, but renewing will not be an option. They have now added on additional fees that were never added on before. We pay for water and sewage and trash and other additions like insurance and property fees that were not originally a part of the leasing agreement. *Long Post Alert* I moved into Dekalb apartments in January of this year. I thought the price was…read morereasonable for the apartment. A pound me moving in the apartment it still needed additional work and I really wasn't all that happy. The service manager at the time was absolutely amazing (Marquis) he came for one thing and I was telling him about the other problems and in one day he fixed everything and even returned the next day to follow up. Little did I know that some minor maintenance would be the least of my worries. I had been living in the apartment short of two or three months, when the real problem came. After a long day of work I'm watching a movie and my boyfriend see's a mouse run across the room. I'm immediately upset and frightened at this point. I Have Never Been More Scared In My Life!!!! So, first thing the next morning I call the front office and they just acted like they were in disbelief and they would take care of the problem. Well......I can whole heartedly say it's been months and I'm still having the same problem. I have spoken with the office manager Megan and Regional Manager Karen at Scully company. They have since admitted to the older buildings as being infested with mice due to the construction around the apartments. Plus further inspection of the apartment, they have hidden holes where the pipes run for the heating, under the bathroom sink, behind the stove, etc. So it's like the mice can just go from apartment to apartment (because you can hear them all in the walls and kitchen area). I have spoken with several other tenants in the buildings and they have seen mice in their apartments. When I ask for a resolution they offered me to move on a sister property (which seemed like the simplest resolution but also was a hassle, seeing as they said everything would transfer over but when I called their property manager she said you have to go through the whole process of applying over again). So not only do I have to look for another place, I have to go through the process again, and as a healthcare worker find time to afford to move all my items somehow into another place. I'm very disgusted with management and Scully at how they are handling the situation. Mind you I haven't heard from the office in two months now, No follow up, No checking in, No Nothing!!! I want to say that the maintenance men have been absolutely AMAZING!! They have tried to make me feel as comfortable as someone in this situation can feel and they come out right away everytime I call. Christina in Dekalb office has tried to be as helpful as possible. But it's just not enough NO ONE should have to live like this. So this is just a FAIR WARNING to future residents you have been advise to LOOK else where!!!!!
