Like Nick, I would concur that this is a pretty standard Tesco filling station, but I would…read moredisagree on a couple of points, firstly, I've called in here a few times and the airline and water dispenser has been broken, secondly, it has the worst exit of any filling station anywhere, straight onto a busy roundabout where the preceding exit is nearly parallel to yours, it'd be very easy to be collected by another vehicle here. But it's just about the only petrol staion within a mile or so now, so worth paying a visit.

After a delightful half and half, a good natter, a bit of a drive, and a coastal walk, I decided I…read moreneeded to go buy some chewing gum. You know when you just get that inexplicable urge? Well, mine was perfectly explicable. My mouth was dry and I needed something to chew. Good enough reason I suppose. My friend reminded me that there was a petrol station at the top of the Ballyholme Road, which I happened to know was a Maxol Station, despite the fact I'd never been before. Apart from the obvious dilemma that I don't drive, I wouldn't pay Maxol stations a visit anyway, as the petrol is way too expensive. But anyways. The two of us dandered up and dropped into said Maxol station for the required gum. There were two guys behind the till having a bit of a chat, looking bored out of their minds despite the awesome (!) rave music playing on the radio. I looked at my friend, who had also noticed the dance tunes, and made a few dance movements for the banter. Cos I'm funny like that. Apparently there's no escaping the trashy music on a Friday night... I picked up a packet of my favourite chewing gum, handed it to Mr Bored No. 1. He scanned it, and informed me it was 47p. 47p! I'd just been had. So, if you fancy some hard core rave music on a Friday night, and overpriced chewing gum, you know where to head...

I have shown ID here for 6 months, and on the nights I don't have it, they know that I am 22, they even know my date of birth! But when a new girl asked, I retorted if there were any staff who'd know my face over six months, and she responded that I was only liable to her, despite seeing a member of staff I knew from the staff bakery area see me. The arrogance scared me and I left straight away. Most people get to know faces, especially with anxious people with social anxiety disorder, but not this particular member of staff. While I'm waiting on being able to pay for a new passport, I just can't go back. Humiliated and upset.

You can choose from Greggs bakery, The farmers market, Chopstix, Burger King, Subway or Lavazza. I recently ate at Chopstix and found the dishes were pretty soggy with congealed sauce around the honey pepper chicken I ordered. I definitely wouldn't eat from it again in a hurry. I went upstairs to Lavazza and had a coffee after and this was much better. Lavazza has a really strong unique roast which always hits the spot when running low on energy. This Applegreen has some nice picnic tables outside and a mini kids play area. Theres also a large parking area for lorries and larger transportation.

Im going to go as far to say this is the most scenic petrol station in Northern Ireland, the reason…read moreI say that is because it is located on the shores of Strangford loch. When I say shores I mean it is literally 10 meters away from the water. This petrol station although scenic is as rustic as they come, despite being in close proximity to civilisation it is like something from the Hills have Eyes, tyres staked outside, no branding, you could easily be in the 50's. The little shop sells everything tat a petrol station shop should, only it crams it all into about 10 feet squared. Strangford filling Station is not only a petrol station it is also a locally owned mechanic that offers all kinds of repairs. I know this sounds vague but it is what the sign says. The sign is no nonsense "Sensible prices Guaranteed" is the second line on it, I love how old school it is. I doubt you would get ripped off at Strangford Filling station, the staff are honest and hard working. While your car is being fixed or tyres are being replaced you can take in the beauty of Strangford Loch.
