I had been a patient of Dr. Lepor for 21 years and always liked him personally. He's also a very good cardiologist. Unfortunately, his assistants and office staff have consistently been disorganized, difficult to deal with, and generally disinterested in helping patients. If you are not among the first appointments of the day, expect a very long wait to be seen. Earlier this year I waited 1 hour and 45 minutes for him to come into the exam room before I finally walked out. No one from the office bothered to call to apologize or follow up, which made it clear they didn't really care and this was just par for the course. So I tried another cardiologist, then, since I had been a patient for so long, I called Dr. Lepor's assistant to share my experience of waiting an hour 45 minutes. She apologized and suggested that if I wanted to return to his practice, she would put me as the first appointment of the day from now on. That sounded good to me, and I decided to give them another chance. My 8:00 AM appointment this morning (Monday) was confirmed twice -- once via an automated voicemail I received on Thursday and once by a staff member who called me directly on Friday. I arrived at 7:55 only to be told I wasn't on the schedule...at all! That was the final straw. For years I tolerated these issues -- even after friends who were former patients asked why I was still going there considering these ongoing issues. I've finally had enough and am moving on before their incompetence gives me a heart attack. To make matters worse messages to the "medications" line requesting prescription refills are never returned and rarely handled in a timely manner, making the office completely undependable. Patients deserve confidence in their doctors and care from a professional, ethical, and supportive staff. Sadly, Dr. Lepor's office provides none of this. While he's a very good cardiologist, I cannot recommend his practice. There are many other good cardiologists who combine medical expertise with a staff that actually values their patients. read more

He will also keep you waiting upwards of two hours, while chit chatting with his elderly brother who for some reason hangs out in the consultation area to pass the time. My father died of heart disease when he was 52. My mother had Alzheimer's in her early 50's and died at 62. I turned 80 last year and I owe that to my team of doctors that take care of me. I inquired about a study on hypertriglyceridemia. A study concerning lowering triglycerides in people with hypertriglyceridemia. The screening process was very pleasant. Dr. Lepor provided very detailed information on the study. Blood test were conducted to assess if the study was right for me. I was given a scan at no charge in order to find plague in my arteries. The scan showed plague in my arteries. Dr. Lepor prescribed medication to lower my cholesterol which was effective. Dr. Ali Maher who is the senior clinical research coordinator, conducted other blood draws and informed me that the triglycerides in my blood were at a good level. Previously they were at 199. I did not qualify for this study. Happy though because I had received such exceptional care, concern and attention. Both of these doctors are thorough, caring, and professional. Dr. Maher called me to verify my address because I would be receiving a check for my participation. I had not expected monetary compensation. Thank you both and I appreciate it because it was helpful at this time. Again, thank you for your excellence. It was a good experience for me knowledge wise and my personal health. My cardiologist retired and I needed a cardiologist to read the Holter Monitor report and give me the results. Dr. Lepor was recommended by a friend. So I made an appointment, even though it was quite a distance. But it was during the pandemic, so there weren't a lot of doctors seeing patients. I get to his office and he's overbooked his appointments like crazy, so the wait time is really long. When I finally get into his office, I get to see him for maybe ten minutes, and he tells me oh, too bad, but he's been TOO BUSY to look at or read the Holter report. That takes two minutes max, and the rest of the time is spent with him trying to pressure me to go on a weight-loss injectible that costs $1000 a month and insurance doesn't cover. But he doesn't know anything about the drug really. When I ask him about specific interactions with another health condition I have, he has no idea. Then he puts me on Lisinopril, tells me that I'll probably develop a cough, but if I'm not a wuss I'll deal with it. If I'm going to be a crybaby about a freaking cough, tell him now. Then he tells me he has to go, he'll have his staff take take a blood test and EEG, and I'll have to make another appointment to get the results of the Holter monitor. When I leave, I'm surprised to learn that I have to pay right now, out of pocket, for the tests he ordered. And it's expensive. (And they wind up OVERCHARGING me almost $100. More on this later.) So, I pay the shockingly large bill and make another appointment. Which his office calls and cancels because he has some golf thing going on that day. So I have to make another appointment to get the Holter results that he was supposed to have given me at the FIRST appointment. Unfortunately, my kid has a medical emergency at school that day, so I can't make the appointment. I left a message for his assistant and never heard back. But I get a bill for $300 for missing the appointment -- for the information he was TOO BUSY TO GET TO during the first appointment -- and that's when they tell me that they OVERCHARGED me by almost $100 at that appointment, but they're going to KEEP THE MONEY and put it toward the $300 MISSED APPOINTMENT FEE. And that I OWE THEM ANOTHER $215. I emailed his assistant that my kid had a medical emergency at school and I STILL HAVE NEVER heard back from her. But today, I opened a letter telling me that I need to pay MR. CAN'T BE BOTHERED TO DO HIS JOB BUT IS ALL ABOUT MAKING MONEY another $215 or they'll send it to collections. I've heard he's smart. He's also arrogant. His assistant doesn't return phone calls or emails, and the office will charge you a FORTUNE for ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING THEY CAN THINK OF. If the doctor doesn't bother to review your results, or he has a golf date, you get to suck it up and make another appointment. If you have an emergency, not only does his assistant ignore your messages, you're CHARGED $300 for missing the appointment. And if you try and leave a message or email, you're ignored. This place is all about MONEY. The more the better. After this mess, I went and got a better, less money-focused, drug-schilling cardiologist and she told me that the cough with Lisinopril is an allergic reaction and that there are other medications that do the same thing without making you cough. She also read the report and doesn't try to squeeze every penny out of her clients for everything under the sun. Maybe he's a better cardiologist if he knows you have deep enough pockets that it's worth his time. Other than that, he's absolutely terrible and his assistant isn't any better. Although I don't know if she's still his assistant or if she's been replaced by now. But I would avoid this place like the plague unless you want to get fleeced. read more

Dad, who had a few heart conditions including mitral valve damage and congestive heart failure, was sent home to die by his other cardiologist. Getting the second opinion with Dr. Lepor saved Dad's life. Dr. Lepor changed Dad's medications and repaired Dad's mitral valve, extending Dad's life by 7 years. Dad was mentally sharp and still involved in different think tanks and social groups. He was extremely close to his grandkids and kids. Dr. Lepor is an amazing physician. He's brilliant, straightforward and truly cares about his patients and his work as a cardiologist. He's also the type of doctor who doesn't talk down to his patients and he's open to discussion...doesn't think he's God. I first went to see him after a very high calcium rating on an MRI of my heart. It was pretty scary. He was reassuring, telling me we'd get to the bottom of it and taking lots of time explaining all the ins and outs of the condition. He did a series of tests and put me on some medications and made some adjustments to my current medications. A few years later and I just got an excellent stress test result, so THANK YOU, Doctor Lepor. But he's not alone. His staff is amazing, especially his assistant Julie Roberts. Dr. Lepor makes cardiology accessible and safe. He is as good as they get! A trip to the cardiologist is never something high on one's bucket list. Especially when you're taking your 15-year-old son. But despite our fears for the worst, our litany of questions and high anxiety, Dr. Lepor immediately diffused our nerves and put our son at ease. His world-class facility and state of the art tech was only equaled by the supportive and attentive staff. Dr. Lepor listened attentively, provided easy to grasp explanations and put it all in words we could understand and feel okay with. His many extensive tests were conducted with a reassuring bedside manner and his support team was knowledgeable of the ins and outs of our son's issues. Even the stress test on the treadmill felt like a "game" to our son who was rooted on by the team and given encouraging words by Dr. Lepor. Overall, we felt incredibly well taken care of and special. Dr. Lepor patiently explained each process and in his office, took the time to articulate the diagnosis and give us all the time we needed to process and ask questions. While the prognosis is good and the issue not serious, had it been handled differently, with a lack of consideration or with less detail, our experience would have been very different and most likely unpleasant and scary. We are blessed to have Dr. Lepor in our lives and would recommend this cardiologist and his amazing facility to anyone experiencing any cardiovascular issues young, old or in between.
