Die finanziellen Mittel dazu hatten die Gründer bei einer mehrjährigen Tätigkeit in der 50er Jahren in den USA erworben. Zu der Zeit war der US-Dollar noch 2,15 Euro wert, heute 0,84 Euro und seine 10-tägige Überfahrt von Cuxhaven nach New York im Luxus-Passagierschiff kostete 200 Dollar. Von Bad Nauheim aus eröffneten die Gründer in einem neu erstellten Gebäude in der Bahnstraße in Langen am 30. März 1966 ein Kaufhaus auf einer Fläche von 485 qm. Später trennten sich die Gründer. Bernhard Braun erweiterte das Haus in Langen nach und nach auf 4.000 qm Verkaufsfläche und betreibt heute mit seinen beiden Söhnen und mit Herrn Däschner ein weiteres Kauf- und Modehaus in Groß-Gerau.
