Checking in again to my favorite place on St Pete Beach. Came in for lunch, and I ordered the sweet-and-sour chicken with mixed vegetables, medium heat. This came with an egg roll and some jasmine rice. Nori Thai has been a staple in the community for well over 35 years. I remember coming here back in 1988 for the first time. And it's always been consistent with deliciousness. I think lunch is their strong point. The prices are reasonable portions are fair, and it is served up quickly with a smile. Always great parking in the small strip mall. Yes I will be coming back, and I hope it's sooner than later. read more

Greeted by sushi chef upon entering. Ordered a Tsingtao beer and chicken larb. I thought it was a huge portion; I was delighted as this is my favorite Thai dish. It was flavorful and I ate every bite. The restaurant has basic decor and is located next to other businesses in a strip type shopping center. I would return again to try other food if I lived here. SOLID 5 STARS! The menu was so full of great looking dishes and so comprehensive I had trouble making up my mind. So I decided to go with the sushi and sashimi sampler ($39). The sampler should be advertised as a meal for two. The amount of food that I received was incredible, two sushi rolls, six sashimi pieces and five sushi pieces, a mound of ginger, a mound of wasabi, a ginger salad, and miso soup. The food came out quickly, the presentation was fantastic, and the flavors were great. Since this is the off-season, I was not surprised that the restaurant wasn't too full, but while I was there, I saw at least two dozen people come in to pick up carry out orders. I could not finish it! I had to take home at least half. Every time I sense a bit more room in my tummy I eat another piece, since I want to finish it all before it goes off. read more

A great spot to check out while in St Pete Beach or Treasure Island. The sushi was great, and was full of flavor. A big roll for the price as well. The conch nigiri was also fat (would recommend). The shrimp pad Thai was a little light on flavor. There was something missing while eating it, but couldn't quite put a name to the flavor that was missing. The restaurant was very clean inside and the service was quick for the owner and his wife running the business. Stopped in after a beach day with no expectations since none of us had heard of the place and we were completely blown away. From the attentive service to the incredible food, everything exceeded expectations. My friend ordered the chicken Pad Thai, and we all agreed it was some of the best we've ever had and worth coming back for on its own. Came here on a Sunday night around 9ish and it was decently busy but we were able to get seated quickly. There was only one server, however she did a great job considering it was busy and only her. We ate here twice in November. Excited to return. Busy this particular night. Food was good but different than November. Meals came out at different times but hot and flavorful. Summer rolls very good. We had two curry dishes (one green & one red), green curry was better..pad Thai was missing something (just lacked a taste we are used to). The photo on their site shows like 10+ fresh rolls and sushi, real nice setup. What I got? 5 or 6 dry, nasty rolls and some cabbage with spicy oil they called a salad. Nothing like the pic. This is my Mom's favorite place to get sushi in the area. Everytime I visit her, we come to this spot. Don't let the facade fool you, the food here is delicious. Although I haven't ordered a lot of their Thai here, her and her friends say it's very tasty. I love the fresh and tasty quality of their fish here. They make yummy miso soup and refreshing ginger salad. I love how buttery and rich their escolar is here. My only comment is that their lunch specials don't feel as big of a deal as other sushi spots, but you're paying for the quality so it's fine. I really like their Lady's Finger lunch combo. It came with a rainbow roll and three nigiri (tuna, salmon, white fish). My mom got their tempura. She isn't usually one for fried foods, but enjoyed their tempura a lot. They also have a good seaweed salad. It's a great spot for lunch or dinner. read more

Note to self,when you walk into a restaurant on a Saturday night around 5ish and the place is completely empty.... leave. We should've caught that first red flag. In our past visits the place is usual quite busy. Decided to stay as maybe we beat the rush? Service was meh, fresh rolls with shrimp were meh . Shrimp seemed undercooked and mostly iceburg lettuce, rice wrap gummy. The most disappointing of meal was Pad Thai with shrimp . Shrimp tasted off and smelled awful. That pretty much ruined it for us. Though the Panang curry chicken was served hot & tasty.. the spoiled shrimp made us leary about finishing our meal. We advised server and asked for check. Unfortunately, the cost of dish wasn't removed from our check. Instead they took 1/2 off cost of pad thai dish. Its been awhile since we were last here. Boy have the prices gone up. $54 (after $12 off for spoiled shrimp pad thai) 1 iced coffee, fresh rolls with shrimp, Panang curry with chicken , Shrimp pad Thai. We won't be returning. Wow! Nori Thai has an unassuming interior, but it makes up for it with awesome service, good prices, and even greater food. To start off with, our server was excellent. Kind, attentive, and charismatic, he led us through the Nori Thai experience gracefully and without a hitch. I saw that a lot of the Yelp community was raving about the Pad Thai, and since I normally order Pad Thai at Thai restaurants anyway (I know-- basic!) I figured I would give it a try. Well rest assured, it was phenomenal. The calamari was excellent as well. The only slight downside of Nuri Thai was the fried rice. A lot of reviewers mentioned it was lackluster, but my dad braved public opinion and tried the it anyway. He enjoyed it, but said it was pretty average compared to most places. Otherwise, though, everything was excellent. Would definitely go again next time I'm in St. Pete. read more

Still excellent this time tried the basil rolls with shrimp. First off most places to get 2 smaller rolls for the same price. Here you get 3 huge rolls filled with basil, shrimp carrots and other veggies. The sauce must be home made as it's bursting with flavor. We also ordered the excellent Thai salad. This is the second time I've ordered delivery from Nori Thai. I really really wanted it to be good since it's the closest Thai that delivers . Unfortunately, both times it was not very tasty . For the price we paid for takeout , I'd probably leave it out next time . The gyoza were buy one , get one . They were super watery when you bite in but the sauce was great! The paang curry for certain lacked flavor , it was kind of just like bland coconut milk. I tried to make it better with my own curry i had at home but it still lacked something. DINING AREA dining area inside had tables that filled up quickly (on a friday night) and there was a lot of bar seating that gives you a view of the sushi chefs. OVERALL my friend and i loved this place. it was relaxed and laid back; great place to go and grab great sushi after a long days work. we got to catch up with each other and also got to converse a little with the sushi chefs which gave it an even more welcoming feel. we didn't get to try the thai food this time, but we will definitely be back to try it next time. as for the sushi, i love a deep fried roll and anything loaded with spicy mayo so my favorite roll was tossed up between the TNT and the phoenix roll. my friend's favorite roll was 100% the caliente roll because she loves grouper. the nori thai spicy roll was also good, but we just loved the others more. i definitely recommend coming in an trying this place out. the food was good, the staff was great and the whole experience was refreshing and very much enjoyed! read more

Great story - Our 1st 'pickup' order here (about a week ago) was incorrect. We were disappointed BUT we were impressed when we called to let Nori know, they said they would 'comp' the entire order. The food that WAS correct in that order was delicious, so we decided to give Nori another try = SO glad we did! We ordered Pad Thai w/Shrimp & Chicken + Green Curry W/Scallops + Yellowtail & Salmon Nigiri and the AMAZING Spring Thai rolls! The food was so good we called and asked for a manager to send along our compliments!! We are officially Nori Thai fans and can't wait to order from here again! We have always enjoyed this place but had the most disappointing meal recently. The nam sod had no dressing at all, the tom ka gai soup was tasteless with whole mushrooms, and the chicken satay with peanut sauce had a different taste. Slightly disappointed. We had seen some excellent reviews and were excited to check out the restaurant. We arrived to a very crowded parking lot only to find two tables of two and three guys at the Sushi Bar. I know they do a brisk business with takeout, but there was no one picking up when we arrived. I ordered an Unsweetened Iced Tea ($4.95) - now I realize St Pete Beach is a tourist town, but $4.95 for Iced Tea or a can of coke is REALLY steep! When our server arrived with drinks, we placed and ordered appetizers while we sorted through the huge menu of Thai and Japanese food options. I ordered the Tom Yum Kung ($6.45); the soup was a nice-sized bowl with a flavorful Broth about four big Shrimp, Straw Mushroom, and huge chunks of Tomato. The soup was delicious! My husband ordered a California Roll ($8.00) off of their Sushi menu. My soup arrived first, and we placed our entrée orders, mine for Red Curry with Chicken ($13.95) and my husband's for Panang Curry with Chicken ($13.95). Before I was halfway through my soup, both of our entrees arrived - the California Roll had not even made it to the table! The California Roll still took another eight minutes or so to come to the table. We thought about canceling it but couldn't find our server. It was okay as far as California Rolls go. Nothing remarkable but not pretty good. The Panang Curry was ordered Medium spicy, and you could taste the Peanut flavor with a bit of heat. I ordered my Red Curry 'Thai Spicy" and had a length discussion with my server about whether or not I was sure I really wanted it that hot. My curry was plenty spicy, thank you, but was flat. We both felt like the chicken had been poached in water and added to the curry. The curry lacked that salty, sweet, acid balance of traditional Thai curry. I asked the server for some Fish Sauce and was told that they don't cook with Fish Sauce and don't have any there. (????) Later on, she explained that they serve many vegetarian meals, so they don't use it. Positives to the experience - all of the staff are wearing masks, and they appear to be limited seating. The curry portions were pretty big, and the servers were polite and friendly. I just feel like living in St Pete and not tied to the beach on vacation; we have much better options. read more

Every time I randomly decide to try another Thai / sushi place, 8/10 times I metaphorically smack myself in the head for just not going with Nori. I've had the green curry and panang curry (med heat because I'm sort of a heat sissy) and they're stellar. Pad Thai is great.. like, 8/10 house Chicken fried rice I'd give a.. 6-7/10. However, Where they truly shine though, imo, is their sushi rolls. The Nori Thai spicy tuna roll, Philly Roll and Rose Roll are out of this world. I was especially impressed with the quality of their Philly roll, which is a standard roll (vs a specialty one). It was not only big, but so fresh and perfectly rolled (perfect rice texture, size, able to easily pick up and eat.. etc..) Their NT spicy tuna roll is just perfect.., and the Rose Roll had so many delicious, chopped spicy tuna chunks on top of it that it really could count as 2 rolls. Their basil rolls (or fresh rolls?..the one you dip in the peanut sauce) are also amazing. The chefs, hosts, and waitresses here are always so nice and welcoming too.
