I'm the worst when it comes to vegetables but I happily went here two nights in a row. The food is good. Not wonderful but good enough to satisfy even the strict meat eater. The chili cheese fries (we tried the vegan as well as vegetarian on two different nights) was delicious. Plus a free Foosball table in a graffiti covered bar/restaurant? No complaints. Very friendly waitstaff. Cash only.

Had the vegetarian cheeseburger which was extremely tasted, made from some sort of soy I believe, the spices on the "patty" were trimmed to perfection. What an unexpected surprise on the other side of the river! If the restaurant hasn't gotten the…read morerecognition already, I'd be surprised if it doesn't get Michelin recommended or Bib Gourmand shortly. What stood out were the flavors. Bold, tangy, and complemented everything well. We got the rhubarb cheese tart as the appetizer and the sweet/tartness of the rhubarb was nicely offset by the cheese. Entrees were the halibut with koodles (kohlrabi in noodle form) and mashed tomatoes. The kohlrabi was the unexpected star. Loved the tangy taste offset by the fish and potatoes. Also had the linguine with octopus. The linguine was pretty std but the lemon burst of flavor was so pleasant! Go here and enjoy a meal! It's a Köln gem!

Came here during the wintertime and dined in the basement. We were surprised to find such a…read morespacious and interesting location. It definitely provided for a chill ambiance. The beer was obviously not bad and the sünner malzbier which I love was also great. Jaegerschnitzel was good. It's not as thin of a piece as I would have liked but that's personal preference. The other dish was not memorable at all. For the price which I remember as being not cheap but still reasonable, I wished I had just travelled elsewhere. We noticed too late that most other parties were only drinking and chatting without eating. It was worth a try and if I'm in a pinch to show someone a German brewery then I might take them there for some beer and maybe a schnitzel. They also offer brewery tours (might need to reserve that ahead of time) so that could be a nice combo. The atmosphere in the summer seems to be better too when the outside dining space is also opened. This is not a particularly child friendly location. There are steps around the dining area, and we were not offered a high chair.

Peter's Brauhaus is often described as a beer hall, but it is so much more than that. Once we entered, we were ushered into the bar, so that we could drink a local beer while we waited for a table. This gave us time to also take in the rustic wood construction of the interior, and enjoy the delicious aromas wafting from the kitchen. Seating is family style, but they also have a few tables for two. The food is hearty traditional German fare, you won't need a second meal that day. This is certainly a must do in Koln, to have an authentic meal in a historic brauhaus.
