I love this place, they have a two way approach of teaching where they offer both group and one on one classes (to refine techniques and work through any technical issues). The teachers are young, relatable and very attentive. Their teaching style is very kid friendly and if they see something that's not quite clicking they find other ways to explain it so that its more relatable and or make more sense to as why something is done a certain way (not just seeing the trees but the forest as well.) Also after every one on one class the teacher goes over your child's progress and what they see as their strengths as well as the things that can be worked on and improved. The staff is consistent (not a lot of change over) so it's make things much easier as far as getting into a routine for the kids as well as the parents. My kid has been there for a little of a year (started when they were 8 but now they're 9) and has had the same three instructors - Mr. Bilberry, Mr. Begonia and Ms. Ferdin (which is a plus in my book.) They are taught practical applications for real world situations. They are also big on conditioning and friendly competition to help with pushing them further. There's alway a nice group of kids attending the group classes which is one of the reasons why my kid loves going (we use this as part of their social time since they are being home schooled.) The dojo is always well kept and organized (it doesn't have that funky smell that you'd think a gym would have which means a lot when you're waiting during your child's practices.) There's also a great cafe (the Benicia Coffee Company) a few doors down if you prefer to wait off site in the area. The Coachs are really good and are very knowledgeable. Even though I had and idea of their skill levels I really found out after witnessing one of their open houses where the instructors did a demonstration of their fighting style Kenpo Karate! With this particular style they use a color belt system to mark accomplishment and skill level. What's really cool is if you're feeling left out and are in need of a workout they have a boxing gym as well that offers lessons that you can match to your kid's schedule! If you're looking for a martial arts spot I'd highly recommend this place and they even offer a few free lessons to give you a chance to see if it's the right fit for you and your child! It's a win win situation in my book! J

Hello everyone…read more This was my experience in Benicia Boxing. Coach Andy is amazing and made me feel comfortable and confident when hitting the pads and also corrected my stand and taught me the fundamental basics. Coach Travis is the other person that was training me. He taught me how to correctly throw a punch and learn how to move with my feet, which was needed because I'm a beginner. My overall experience was great and will definitely come back in the near future

Geoff the owner is very involved, and always has the eye for improvement amongst the gym. First things first is that Pro Faction has all the tools for Muay Thai. They have a canvas ring! Most gyms don't even have the space for it. Next is the endless amount of Muay Thai equipment that is provided. If you watch your favorite Thai fighter train on Instagram or YouTube, every type of pad that they have, Pro Faction has. Beyond the ring, they have many mats, a secluded area specifically for different types of punching bags, and an area for weight training. Everything that I could physically need to improve myself is right there for me when I step foot in the gym. The number one thing that I look for in the gym, is cleanliness. This is a must. All of the pads are hung up, with nothing touching the floor. All the gloves and equipment have its own rack, and are sterilized after each use. Even the mirrors are spotless. Trust me, I check! Next is the training staff. Geoff teaches the first Muay Thai class and makes sure that your basics are down. Like anything in life, you can never be "too good" for basics. The beginners in the class are no different that the fighters. Everyone works on the same thing and gets better together. Next is Alec. This young lad is full of knowledge and information. He can take your game to go from good, to great. If there's one thing that I appreciate, it's how involved these two are. When I'm not in the gym, they give me text messages about what needs to be worked on outside of the gym to optimize my training time. Overall this is a great place to train for all skill levels of any age. Pro Faction also teaches Jiu Jitsu if Muay Thai is not your cup of tea. If you have an itch to train, this is definitely the place to go. Come in and make a positive change in your life!

They are firm but fair and also allow for a little fun and silliness. I really appreciate the way they teach and work with kids of all ages. This school teaches discipline and respect and accountability which is such a rare thing to find these days. And they are so reasonably priced for what they provide. Kwon Ja Nim is great with the kids without being too firm or too lenient and Maam Debbie takes a personal interest in the kids as well. This class has taught my daughter so much and I highly recommend them especially if you, like me, have a high energy child that needs the outlet. Taekwondo is a real life skill for my daughter and I'm excited to see how much she grows and learns from them.

After just a few months of TKD, his self-esteem began to grow and he looked like a natural on the mats. Watching and looking at our son now (who is now 7), you'd never think he was that shy, little boy. He is very determined to continue TKD and has goals to get his black belt. One memory that sticks to me the most was when our son was 5 years old and he refused to belt test because he was so nervous and was afraid he was going to make mistakes. Not only did the instructors speak with him and reassured him that everything will be ok, even if he made mistakes, but the students and parents also cheered him on and rooted for him. Our son eventually tested, and his self-confidence was through the roof, all with the help of our Vallejos TKD family. It really is true when they say "It takes a village." Another reason why we love Vallejos TKD is because they also acknowledge the kids' accomplishments outside of TKD class, whether it be having a good report card at school or doing chores at home. Thank you Vallejos TKD family for your love and support always

The instructors are a family of black belts, and classes are thoughtfully structured into children's, teen, and adult programs. When asked to take it easy on our son due to his back pain, Ray began working him harder, making his back pain much worse. When showing our son how to perform a stretch to do at home, he made a remark about his mother's weight. The other parents were shocked to hear Ray make such a remark. When confronted about his disrespectful remark, he laughed it off and said that 'someone is obviously insecure about their weight'. After seeing the doctor about his back pain, it was suggested that we pull him out of karate lessons. While it is unclear what caused his back injury, the activities at karate were making his symptoms worse. When asked for a refund of unused services, Ray Delgado refused. He went so far as to suggest we wait a few months and then return. Why would we return to a business that was rude and disrespectful? Why would we subject our son to an activity that obviously caused pain and worsened a verified injury? My fiancé received instruction from Ray Delgado as a child, and even considered him to be a family friend. But what kind of friend makes insults to your child about his mother's weight, then laughs it off and places blame on you? What sort of business refuses a refund for unused services that a doctor has determined would be hawould recommend that anyone seeking karate instruction avoid Ray Delgado's.
