Entering the small inner yard of Munnskjenk is like entering an enchanted space. On my first visit…read morelast summer, passing through the gate, me and my companions exclaimed in unison: "Why on earth have we not found this place before?! ". We speculated whether it had manifested from thin air just to suit our needs of the moment.
Munnskjenk is actually the outdoor kitchen of the neighboring bar Himkok, and is open in the summer season. And no wonder Munnsjenk feels enchanted - I mean; where else in Oslo do you find an outdoor stage with live jazz, urban gardening, locally brewed cider, kombucha, raw cakes, great food, seating framed by greenery and a Saturday yard sale - all in the same place?
I've tried the "all day brunch plate" (meze style plate with different delicious treats) and pulled beef with potatoes and brown sauce. Both were delicious - but maybe a bit over priced.
This is a real pearl in the Oslo jungle, and I'm looking much forward to a new season with dry cider and live jazz.
