Our old refrigrator had ice forming in the bottom of the freezer. Another company claimed they fixed the problem by using steam to clear the clogged drain but, a day later, the ice was still there. The other technician suggested we needed a new refrigerator. I called NorCal after getting a recommendation from another appliance expert. Ian, from NorCal arrived and correctly diagnosed the problem and removed clogged drain and physicallly cleared the blockage. The problem was solved. I highly recommend them to anyone who has a refrigerator problem. read more

A+ service. Frank and his son came out to service our refrigerator/ freezer which was not cooling properly. They quickly diagnosed the problem and got the fridge working again. Professional, "old-school" service. They work quickly, neatly and are very good at explaining things. Since they also fix other appliances, we'll keep Nor-Cal in mind for other appliance issues down the road. read more

Great service. Have used these guys at least twice and they know their stuff. They will not try to upsell you and will even steer you in the right direction if they cannot help you. Would definitely recommend Nor-Cal Refrigeration. read more

Amazing. The sweetest man and nicest service. My oven works great now. Thanks so much for going over and beyond what was expected.

Always a great experience with Nor-Cal. Came same day for my most recent repair and fixed it in short order. The 5 stars are well deserved.

I highly recommend NorCal. Frank was great to deal with. Very positive and honest. He assessed my refrigerator and made adjustments and suggestions. I am very happy to have met him. read more

The Owner/Dispatcher Frank was polite, helpful & efficient... I promptly received return calls! The technician, Emil was knowledgeable, efficient, worked neatly, personable & HONEST. He called when he was on his way. I would recommend Nor-Cal. read more

Frank fixed both our oven and dishwasher and did a great job. He was on time, professional, and clearly knew what he was doing. He actually diagnosed the issues, explained them clearly, and made sure everything worked before leaving. Both appliances are now working properly. Highly recommend. read more

We had them come look at our kitchen vent hood and they said we needed to get it replaced. They said the payment from the visitó would go into the cost of the installation once we picked a new vent. Well we've called them three times and they have keep saying they'll call back in ten minutes and they never called back. We ended up going with another company because they were so difficult to deal with. read more

I'm writing to compliment Nor-Cal Refrigeration for their exceptional level of service and professionalism. From my first interaction with Frank to the completion of a repair to our refrigerator the entire process was effortless. We were kept updated along the way and everything went as planned/promised or better! read more

Frank and Emilio both serviced our GE fridge at two separate times in 2020. Both times, the fridge had stopped working (but due to different issues -- once with coil cleaning and once with a fried wire), and both individuals were kind and explained to me what was wrong, what they were going to do to fix the problem, etc. as they diagnosed and worked on the fridge. It seemed to me that the price was also very reasonable (less than $250 both times) and I was glad for their professionalism. Thanks! read more

Made an appointment to come by today between 3 and 5. It's after 6. No show no call. If I did that at my job I'd be looking for work. Don't waste your time. read more

Great customer service and they usually can fix the problem the next day. We've been using this company for years. They fix refrigerators and stoves, etc. read more

Frank and Emilio replaced my ice maker in my very-old Kenmore side-by-side refrigerator and took extra care to clean the parts under the refrigerator to help extend its useful life. They also replaced the door seal on our old front-load LG clothes washer. This small family-owned business is professional, skilled, and reliable, and they are good communicators. I highly recommend them. read more

Frank answered my call and asked for my name and number and said they'd call me back to schedule a repair by end of day. They didn't call back so I called them again the next day and got their voicemail where the mailbox was too full to leave a message. I don't know what happened to these guys, maybe I recommended them to too many people and they can't keep up? Never heard from them and that was weeks ago. Anyway, it's a shame to have this negative update but luckily there are plenty of other appliance repair teams in SF. read more

Nor-Cal repairmen are sensational! I have had them twice, the first time Frank, the senior expert; the second time, Emilio who Frank trained. Both guys were great! They diagnosed the problems in our Whirlpool refrigerator quickly and accurately and repaired them completely. Both times the refrigerator was leaking water onto the hardwood floor in our kitchen, yikes! Before Nor-Cal, the landlord had called two other appliance repair companies. Repairman number one said, he couldn't find any leaks, and repairman number two said there was "nothing wrong" with the fridge. Both were paid for their service. But the refrigerator still gushed pools of water in the middle of the night. Then Nor-Cal came out for the first time. Frank checked the fridge from top to bottom, inside and out, and front to back. No, it wasn't the ice maker. No, it wasn't the filter. No, it wasn't anything inside the machine. It was the plastic hose behind the refrigerator that connected the appliance to the water source, a faucet at the end of the water pipe. Frank showed it to me. The plastic hose had become bent (most likely from my wife and me moving the refrigerator in and out to clean), and the bent plastic had finally cracked, creating the leak. I said shame on Whirlpool for providing cheap plastic hosing, or maybe shame on the installer. Frank said not to worry, he could fix it. He went down to his truck and came back with real COPPER PIPE! He installed a big long coil of it, long enough so we could still move the fridge in and out for cleaning without damaging the pipe, and repaired the fridge quickly and completely. Frank, what a pro! What a quality guy! My second experience came this week. Two and a half years later, the refrigerator was leaking again. The hardwood floor was again in danger. I urged the landlord (GreenTree) not to send out anyone other than Nor-Cal, it will be a waste of time and money. "Nor-Cal knows what they're doing!" I said. Nor-Cal called me the next morning to set up an appointment. It was Frank on the phone! He said he could send out a guy the same day, in the afternoon. "Can't you come?" I asked him. "Sorry I can't, but I'm sending Emilio, who's just as good," he replied. "Did you train him?" "Yep, I trained him. He's one of my best. He'll find the leak." And of course, he did! Emilio was just as fantastic as Frank. No, it wasn't the ice-maker, which I thought it must have been. No, it wasn't the filter. No, it wasn't the copper coil in the back, obviously. It was the plastic drain at the bottom of the refrigerator; I didn't know there was such a thing. But Emilio unclogged it and fixed it while I was on the telephone; I don't know how long it took. But it's now Friday and there's been no more leaks from our refrigerator. Why? Because Emilio is a pro, a quality guy! Just like Frank! And I'll betcha all the other repairmen or repairwomen at Nor-Cal are just the same. Thanks Frank for training all them so well. And for reminding me and all the rest of us out here in these difficult times: that Professionalism and Quality Do Indeed Matter! And my wife and I recognize and salute you for Being the Best We Can Be! Obviously, I recommend Nor-Cal very highly- Six Stars! read more

I woke up to my fridge being off and the lights inside not working. When I called Nor-Cal, they suggested that I check the breaker first to make sure the fridge was actually getting power. They also suggested that check the electrical connection for the fridge. All this to try and save me money on a service call. Really appreciate how they're looking out for the customer. read more

My fridge was getting too cold, food freezing up, the digital temp control was broken, ice maker not discharging ice. I was referred by Parkside Appliance to contact Norcal Refrigeration as Parkside does not repair fridges. I called Norcal and asked for "Frank", someone said Frank was unavailable but could schedule a Sat 10/10 service call. The person who showed up was "George" from Continental Refrigeration. George inspected the fridge and said the repair would be replacement of the 1) digital control board, 2) ice-maker. His verbal estimate was $600+. George said he would call me on Mon after finding out the exact costs of the parts & timing for this repair. Prior to George's departure he insisted on collecting $65 for the 15 min service call. Days go by no calls from Norcal or Continental refrigeration. So on Thu 10/15, I called Norcal and spoke to "Frank" and informed him of my experience with "George". He seemed surprised and promised to get back to me. More bullshit no call backs. I'm going to order the parts via Marcone and fix it myself. I wanted to give these guys the benefit, but the scammers they are deserve a ONE star review. Please avoid these two companies Norcal & Continental refrigeration as they'll charge you $65 for doing nothing. read more

Was referred to Frank by Parkside Appliance as they don't do refrigeration. We made appointment. Gave Frank information about our fridge - model, age, problem. He showed up, had necessary parts. He did compete service on fridge that was in use without service for15 years. It now works like new. His fee was about third of cost of new comparable unit. Frank is a pro. read more

Excellent repair service! Called them on Saturday afternoon when I discovered my fridge was warm but the freezer was working fine. They were the only company to return my phone call. Received a call back from Chris within the hour. He was at my house on Sunday at noon as promised. He figured out the problem quickly, and had the part my fridge needed in his truck. Professional, efficient, courteous, and a pleasure to work with. I texted with another question after he left, and I received a reply immediately. I would definitely recommend Nor-Cal. Thanks for the great work! read more

last month I called someone to fix my refrigerator. He came when expected, and the refrigerator worked again for a reasonable price. I paid him in cash, which he requested, and he didn't give me a receipt. Two weeks later the appliance no longer worked, i couldn't remember the name of his company, and a friend referred me to Nor-Cal. I will never call anyone else. Frank came on time, diagnosed the problem quickly, told us what to do, explained how it happened, how he would treat it, and I was delighted. My very brilliant engineer brother, who can fix anything, happened to be over, and was also very impressed. Like reviewer Jamie C. ,SIX STARS. read more

Frank is just a great guy. He used to come to our house when he and his son still worked together. He's always been so clear, direct, and honest. Frank at Nor-Cal REFRIGERATION was a tremendous help when our refrigerator's water system broke down. We were so lucky to find Frank & his service was impeccable. Frank and Emilio are rare pros. They were thoughtful and efficient and easy to work with. Emilio came equipped with a mask and shoe covers, clearly aware of and onboard with current safety protocols, and he had my refrigerator running again quickly. read more

Frank is great, a bit overstretched to be sure, but gets there when he can and knows what is necessary. He works on our Vinoteque wine cellars where timeliness is obviously a priority. Excellent, quick and professional service. I was able to quickly schedule repair for my old refrigerator that suddenly died, then somehow turned back on a day later. I scheduled same week, and Emilio was very quick to diagnose a burned lead of some sort. He didn't have the part, so he drove out to get the it and finish out the job within the hour. He even gave the unit a full look over and cleaned out the coils for good measure before putting everything back right where it was. Kuddos to Emilio for being super competent and working around me as I ran a few business calls from home. Hopefully there won't be a next time soon, but when there is, I'm calling Nor-cal. read more

What a pleasure to work with such a competent company. I Frank, upon a recommendation from a friend, an he had Emilio come out. While changing the water filter on my Kitchenaid refrigerator we forced it and water was leeking all over. Had to shut the water off at the cold water intake at the kitchen sink as no valve was placed on the copper tubing. Next day Emilio was there right on time. Check it over and needed to order a part. 3 days later, over a weekend, he installed the part and also a valve to shut off the water at the copper tube so we could still have water in the kitchen if we needed to shut off the refrig. Very friendly and professional. You need a refrigerator repaired they are the ones to call. read more

NorCal turned my refrigeration disaster (failed refrigerator and freezer while I was on vacation) into a positive experience. Not only did they replace the failed part, they worked with me to make sure the refrigerator would last many more years (scheduled coil cleaning and replacing worn seals). They came out the day I called them, ordered the parts and had the refrigerator running and usable within a few days. They were polite, friendly, and neat. Pricing was fair and transparent. I recommend them without reservation. read more

These guys were GREAT -- professional, quick, and reliable. Fixed our oven in about an hour that hasn't worked properly for a year! Fixed our fridge the next day when the parts came in. Excellent service and reasonable rates. Highly recommend! read more

Fair service, perhaps worth an extra half star, but no way deserving of four stars, so at three they stay. Had trouble getting them to call back to schedule an appointment, and they proceeded to cancel on me twice, albeit in a courteous fashion. Finally, the guy sent his uncle, who also runs a different refrigeration service, over to make the call. He was a pleasant and competent fellow, but after making chit-chat about his philanthropic efforts on behalf of Peru while I was paying the bill, he proceeded to hit me up for a donation. Now I could have declined, but was caught off guard and made a contribution, and am still somewhat irritated at the thought. So with that word of caution, I can recommend NorCal for good work and fairly reasonable prices, particularly if they don't sub the work to the guy's uncle. But in my opinion, when someone is in your personal space ostensibly on business, it's dirty pool to solicit for something unrelated, and as such I wouldn't use them again. read more

My wife and I woke up at 2AM to the sound of our refrigerator making a horribly loud noise. It sounded like truck downshifting. It was so loud I thought for sure that it was going to wake the neighbors and I would hear about it the next day. I called Frank at Norcal. He came right over and diagnosed the problem on sight and told me exactly how much it would cost. He fixed it quickly and very reasonably. He is a very hard working guy as he even cleaned up thoroughly. Frank's competence, good attitude, honesty, and personable nature exemplified one of the very best best experiences that I have had with any repair service. I would not hesitate to use him again. My refrigerator stopped working so I found Norcal on Yelp and called to request a service call. Frank is the man. He stands out as an honest, competent guy in a field where you typically feel gouged or taken advantage of. After an initial diagnosis on my fridge, he came back to me and said that, while he could do the repair work (and take my money), he wouldn't recommend that course and feel good about it, as it wasn't guaranteed to last for years. He then took the time to set me up w the mfg for a new unit, all on his own nickel. Very impressed w the level of service. Customer for life. Thanks, Frank! read more

My fridge had been on the brink for a while. I had another company come out to take a look several months ago, the guy replaced one thing after another but the fridge was still broken. After 3 attempts of trying to fix it I gave up and hoped my fridge would last a little longer. Unfortunately it died a few days ago but fortunately for me I found Norcal. Frank was able to squeeze me in between appointments the same day. Between Frank and Christopher they were able to diagnose the problem within minutes. They were both friendly, efficient, knowledgeable, explained everything clearly and made sure everything was clean before they left. I've lived in my place for 10 years and was told by the previous owner that there was no way to get water connected to a fridge. I also had my fridge delivered and installed 10 years and had a repair man come out last year and not one of these people told me I had access to a water source. When Frank made the repairs he saw the water source and connected it to my fridge, installed the filter, showed me how to use it and now I have ice and filtered water, all at no extra charge. What a bonus without even asking! I would definitely recommend Norcal, and I don't often hand out 5 stars. read more

This should be "Nor-Cal Refrigeration & Appliance Repair" says the guy on the phone -- they just do repairs. It's just that the guy hasn't been on Yelp, so hasn't corrected the category. That said, he was awfully nice and spent the time to steer me to a couple of local sales places he recommended. His attentiveness alone, for a customer not even looking for a repair, was admirable. read more
